EVANESCENCE Frontwoman: 'If I Can't Write Dark, Epic Music, I Can't Live'

EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee has posted the following message on the EVANESCENCE message board EvBoard:
"Hey everybody!!!! It's been a crazy couple of weeks, but everything is going SO GREAT in the studio. I can hardly contain my excitement for this record, and I'm happier than I've been in so long I can't remember.
"I wanted to make sure everyone knows that I DO NOT have any music in [the upcoming film] 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. I did write music for it, that I love very much, but it was rejected for the movie because it was 'too dark' and 'too epic.' My darlings, if I can't write dark, epic music, I can't live.
"I thought about it for awhile, and then finally decided that I simply will not compromise my art for anything. It is very sad, though, because I think the movie is going to be amazing. It's really good — I just don't want you guys to go and see it and be let down because you thought our music was in there. Oh well, more great stuff for the album.
"I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!! And I'm so glad we took the extra time to make this record right. You're gonna love it."
As previously reported, Lee is being sued by her former management company over alleged unpaid commissions, according to TMZ.com.
Under the agreement, Rider Management was entitled to 20 percent of gross earnings. Lee gave Rider the boot and claims she has no obligation to pay the management company. Rider begs to differ and wants a minimum of $10 million.
EVANESCENCE's major-label debut, "Fallen", has sold 6.36 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Who goes to a movie to hear a band in it? I doubt any evanecense fans (if there are any) will be seeing this movie. No doubt they will be sitting at home brooding over their non existant life.
What part of "Bring me to life" was dark and epic, my darlings? It was about someone finding you and waking up your cold heart with their love, thus allowing you to love them in return. Hardly dark and/or epic.

she didn't even say evanescence was dark or epic in that article. all she said was the music she wrote for the film was, which is quite possible. film music is much different than the music you write for a rock song.
blabbermouth are geniuses. they put "'If I Can't Write Dark, Epic Music, I Can't Live'" as the title of the news post because they knew posters would bash the shit out of her. I notice that they do this a lot. they probably find it hilarious, that they can predict and manipulate.

Lacuna Coil, After Forever, The sins of thy beloved, Theatre of tragedy (etc.,) have been doing gothic "rock" music for a while now, evanshit is NOT a rock band, they're at best radio fodder, trendy music that the masses can swoon over and think they listen to "metal" when in reality bands like Arch Enemy (and harder) would scare the living shit out of them.

sounds familiar. Trent Reznor of nine inch nails scored a shitload of music for Mark Romanek's full length directorial debut, ONE HOUR PHOTO, with Robin Williams. the production company (not Mark) rejected the songs for a similar reason. Trent then put them on an extra CD called Still that came out with the live album And All That Could Have Been in 2002. maybe Amy should do the same thing... find a way to release them, or incorporate them into her music.
