JUDAS PRIEST: 'Thank You For Your Loyalty And Dedication' - Dec. 7, 2005
JUDAS PRIEST have issued the following holiday message via their official web site:

"Hello to all our PRIEST fans around the world! Well, our touring is now completed for 2005 and what a great year it has been. The end of year shows saw the mighty PRIEST visiting Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for the very first time. It was an exciting adventure for us and our fans who had waited such a long long time for us to perform live in those countries — and we thank you for welcoming us with such fervour and giving everyone a memorable experience. 'Angel Of Retribution' went straight to your hearts and your feedback on the PRIEST site and in the media for our reunion release made us very proud indeed....we couldn't wait to roar out around the planet and share with you the best metal concerts night after night....so now as the holidays approach, we wish each and every one of you a wonderful safe and peaceful holiday season wherever you may be and thank you again for your loyalty and dedication for the PRIEST. Keep the metal faith alive!"

Check out a couple of shots of the band and crew travelling from Russia through the Baltics in their private plane.

JUDAS PRIEST issued their new DVD, "Rising in the East", in North America on November 15 via Rhino Home Video. A European release will follow on January 16, 2006.

Vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis filmed "Rising in the East" in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive JUDAS PRIEST lineup played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album "Angel of Retribution", their first new material in 15 years. "Rising in the East" is JUDAS PRIEST's first straight-to-DVD release.

So many bands come and go, but damnit Priest still rocks! Angel of Retribution is an **uncommonly good** album! (Do I sound like a Keebler elf or what?!!)

Almost every metal band I have ever come across nods to Priest as a major influence, and rightly so, for ALL genres. Not too many bands out there can amass that kind of influence, and Priest has done just that!

Besides, where would half these bands be without their leather and spikes, which Priest made a mainstay? ;)

Just play Sinner and we're even stephen ...
I hope Priest do the rolling stones thing.
Halford is beyond amazing, shrieking like he
does at his age is so fucking phenomenal.

btw... I actually like the little ballad "Angel" off
the new record best, Halford hasn't done a sweet
ballad like song. I also really liked "Before the dawn",
"Here come the tears" and of course "Dreamer Deceiver"

All hail the mighty Priest...

COMMENT | MotleyOrc... definitely treat yourself to the new CD

Be patient and give it at least ten listens.
By then you'll be stoked, and hopefully agree with
me that it ranks up there with the great albums of
the 70s and 80s...

btw... my favorite JP album of all time is Stained Class...

Any time, Rob & Co. Other bands, take note. You give a little, you get a little. It's rare for a band to make one masterpiece album, but to make three in a career (Stained Class, British Steel and Painkiller) is a hell of an accomplishment. Take a bow, guys.

All Hail The Metal Gods!!

I don't understand how anyone can be "disappointed" with AOR. I think it is one of their altime BEST. My fav song is Demonizer & I would have loved it if most of the album was like it, but the thing that makes JP so great is their D-I-V-E-R-S-I-T-Y. One of my other favs is the ballad Angel. I used to think Revolution was a cheeseball song, but after seeing it live & watching it on the Rising in the East DVD, I think it's a pretty good tune. The new DVD is a lot better than I expected, but I still think it deosn't get any better than the Screaming in Memphis DVD. If anyone is questioning the new album or DVD, get the DVD first then buy the album, you won't be dissapointed.

But that is stating the obvious.

Priest actually came to my shitty little hicktown (shockingly) and let me tell you, they rocked the hell out of this dumb little cracktown. Something like that only happens once in a lifetime in a place like this.

Because sellout / poser material made it from the Turbo fiasco, is on this DVD, which makes go from essential for hardcore thrashers, and marketeed / geared towards the hair metal crowd.
