METALLICA, SLIPKNOT Among Most Searched For Bands On Web

METALLICA fan site Inter Sandman is reporting that Lycos, a media destination for creators and consumers of quality content, today announced The Lycos 50's eagerly anticipated annual list of top 50 search terms for the year 2005. While METALLICA didn't break the overall top 50 — they came in at No. 83 — the band popped in as the No. 3 most searched for band — not bad for a group that had most of the year off. Only GREEN DAY and SLIPKNOT had higher band searches than METALLICA. As previously reported, METALLICA were due to begin rehearsals for their ninth studio album two weeks ago, according to an interview with drummer Lars Ulrich in Danish newspaper B.T.. Ulrich, a native of Denmark, flew back to the San Francisco area from New York on November 29, after which the band were to commence working. Ulrich said about the project, "I wouldn't say that I have a plan or an idea of where we're headed, but to kick start METALLICA once again makes me happy like a kid."

I give respect to a band that changed music, even if I don't listen to them anymore. Metallica, Megadeth,Pantera, Sepultura all mainstream because they're records were to amazing to ignore.

The usual posts about how Metallica 'sucks since (insert year)' and how they've 'sold out'. Don't get me wrong, St. Anger was a complete and utter bonafide piece of shit. However, there are some songs on 'Load' and 'ReLoad' that are guilty pleasures of mine (and fuck what anyone who says I'm 'not metal' thinks). Admit it, there's NOTHING cooler than a toothless old crone spinning a music box as she chants an eerie, wordless, minor-key melody. You guys are just pissed off because you didn't think of it first.

I read all the posts from like all 20 of you that still have to bash the greatest metal/rock band of all time. Metallica is the real reason hair metal died, they made thrash metal famous and mainstream and made it okay to be yourself and just be respected for their music. Now we have all these little kids on here that dont know a thing about music let alone metal. Metallica is the most important hard rock band in history next to only Black Sabbath and the most important American metal band ever. Every album is masterpiece and lets not forget Load/Reload is really one album that is a double album put out separate due to pressure from their label. Put those CD's together and it is experimental but groundbreaking and genious. Saint Anger is way underrated and we all know the first 5 albums are the greatest 5 albums put out by any metal band ever. Oh well, you guys will never get it. Maybe when you grow up but you all are pathetic with very little musical knowledge. You all are trend followers and bash the band because someone else does. Metallica is as relevant today as they have ever been and will continue on for many years and continue to break ground.

I loved Metallica....LOVED THEM with the greatest man love I could give. But when the BLACK album came out things changed... However, unlike most other diehard fans, I gave the album a shot and even enjoyed it. But I thought that would be a one-off type thing and they would get back to old-school style on the next album.
Well, the masses ate that album up and Bob Crotch-Rot is here to stay. That album made so much money that its no wonder they stayed with Bob Rock and kept putting out those kinds of songs...they were more popular.
I can't argue with that...I would do it too.
But all I can say is that I don't like too much after Justice, there are a handfull of songs (most on the Black album) that I like and that's it.
Molotov...why do you keep posting this crap about bands no one has even heard of???? Who the fuck is Mesugerah.....don't make me copy and paste the Billboard Music chart thing again.... as it would be a slaughter to compare them to Metallica.
I'm guessing Moltov is some little kid who was turned onto Mesugah by someone who said these guys are great, but no one knows of them. So Motov figures, hey I will sound cool if I too turn some people on to a group no one has ever heard of.
When and if these guys go gold...then feel free to post something. But I'm not wasting my time on a group where only 10,000 people in the WORLD even likes.

man, how many times do i have to explain this people? jeez, i've known who MESHUGGAH!!!!! were since like 1996 or 1997, and i've been doing my MESHUGGAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! trademark-ish signature to virtually all of my posts since i started posting here like 3 1/2 years ago....jeez i can't help it's slowly gotten so much attention, ridicule, etc. from most of you, and Quiet Riot/Mnemic/Decibel magazine...i just stumbled on a little routine/style way back when that works and gets a reaction.

Start with "Destroy Erase Improve" pages124.
Then if you like it check out "Chaosphere" and then the rest of their stuff. The early releases, "Contradictions Collapse" and the "None" ep are the thrashiest ones.
Their latest two albums "Nothing" and "Catch 33" are their most experimental ones. If you like them check out Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah's lead guitarist)'s solo project. It's called Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects and the album's called "Sol Niger With version 3.33". It's in the same style of Meshuggah, a mixture of jazz fusion and thrash metal, but more experimental and even more technical (and with guitar solos a plenty of course). Thordendal is very influenced by jazz fusion virtuoso Allan Holdsworth when it comes to solos (the typical atonal legato style of Holdsworth can clearly be heard in all of Fredrik's solos, yet he doesn't merely clone him, he pushes the boundaries of what Holdsworth's done) and if you like that style, you're gonna love his solo stuff. And Meshuggah of course.

What Lycos should do is persoanlly call the members of the bands loved or hated here and find out if they even know this site exists and if they do find out if they give a damn about what the people on here think.
