KORN's 'Other Side' On Track to Sell Over 200K Copies In First Week

According to Hits Daily Double, KORN's "See You on the Other Side" appears on track to sell just over 200,000 copies in its first week of release to capture the No. 3 slot on next week's The Billboard 200 chart (right behind EMINEM's greatest-hits collection, "Curtain Call", and fellow rapper LIL' WAYNE's "Tha Carter II")
KORN's previous CD, "Take A Look In The Mirror", sold 96,000 copies in the U.S. in its first, shortened week on the streets back in November 2003 (the album's original release date was bumped up four days after the group learned that the set had been leaked to the Internet by an "unknown source"), while 2002's "Untouchables" opened with 434,000 copies back in June 2002. KORN's fourth full-length effort, "Issues", registered a first-week tally of 584,000 in November 1999.

was where Korn started, dominated, and faded for me...I kept buying each sucessive album, wanted to give them another chace, but they just kept fading,........ nothing ever ='s certain trend bending (BLIND) albums as when they were actually released (late 93) still unknown , and listened 2 at that time, ...
same with Machine Head (burn My Eyes), Meshuggah ( None EP), all purchased on the same day, (Early 94), all ahead of the curve. I'mno bandwagon jumper,... but if I had, I'd probably have jumped the fuck off by now.

I have always lisented to Korn. And got a lot of shit here for that. But here's the truth. This Cd SUCK'S!!!! It's BORING! And here's the funny thing, I bought the special edition, for the 3 extra songs. And the are quite simply, the BEST songs Korn has written since Blind. SO, that means, if you bought or downloaded the regular album, you got the boring songs. Right now I only listen to the 2nd CD.

I didn't dig it too much, but there are some really good songs on the album. Coming Undone, Hypocrites, Liar, Open Up, Souvenior, Love Song, For No One, Eaten Up Inside (bonus cd) and The Little Death (bonus cd) are all good. It's a nice change from what they've done in the past, but still Korn.

It's a grower. And as I've learned, some of the best albums are growers. It took me a few listens, but it really does have some of their best stuff on there. Don't expect to like it if you have a short attention span. If you're any kind of Korn fan, you should be able to get down with it hardcore within a couple listens. If you never liked korn at all, and only post on here to make fun of korn, then yeah you probably won't like it. You should also get your mommy a really nice christmast present, since you're 25 and still live in your basement.

1- The label is EMI. Thus, the CD is copy protected.
Fuck altered CDs with crapware.
You heard me.
Aletred CDs.
Sony altered their cds and it opened the door to viruses.
CD copy protection is bullshit.

I was a huge Korn fan when the first album came out. Then, "life is peachy" was pretty good for what it was. Though it was muddy. I didn't like "follow the leader", but did like "issues". So, I have downloaded this album, and believe that it is probably the poorest album of their career. Where are those heavy ass riffs? What happen to the cool transitions and the wee-wee's and jun-juns? Gone, all gone. Needless to say, I'm dissippointed.

Korn is a band that kicks ass live, I could probably make a double CD of all the best songs from each release, but all they have to do is put out a live disc and that would do it for me.
I know they have a DVD out, is it any good?
Oh, and I do like variety (Behemoth, Dimmu, Dixie Dregs, Annihilator, 70's era Deep Purple, Gretchen Wilson, Montgomery Gentry, King Diamond/Merciful Fate, Massacre (ex members of Death) version Leanne Rymes so what?

I was and still am a Korn fan to some extent, but... this new album is worst than there last one (which was horrible). I guess it's cool that they're on the top 3, but look at who they're competing with. The 3 songs on the bonus disc are better than any on the CD, and I will admit they are pretty cool. Way more dark and heavy, none of that techno crap like on the actual CD. If the album sounded more like those songs it wouldn't be half bad... but it wouldn't be in the top 3 on the charts either (if you catch my drift).

...to enjoy the wickedsick tapestry of tripped out beats on SYOTOS. + jon's lyrics have never been better, imo. Honestly i think munky's handled the riffs exquisitely. They're leaner, meaner, but also phatter & badder now. I agree that the bonus songs > normal, but insead of whining they "shouldve been on the regular disc", I just accept the deluxe IS the regular disc bitches. For those of you who listened to this expecting some underground death metal you really need to get a life. For one thing in all of the appearances and interviews I've seen KoRn members in they never refer to themselves as anything but Rock and Roll. I think it would be a shame to even try to classify them, and you either like them, or you don't. This album is not as heavy as their last, but alot more creative, and the lyrics are alot better. This album is just another chapter in KoRns amazing volume of creativity. None of their albums sound the same, and they never become boring. I think if you like it you should tell us why, if not tell us why you don't like it. But don't post some stupid Bullshit because you decided 5 years ago that KoRn wasn't heavy enough anymore.

I'm a huge korn fan been a fan since their first record.
I've tried so hard to get into this, but it just doesn't work for me. It kinda sounds like a complete rip off of Marilyn Mansons lat two album and Kinda of a tool rip off as well. I feel some of the songs that we're left off of the cd should've been on there (Appears, It's Me Again, Eaten Up Inside) i know some are on the 2 disc but i'm not waisting 20 bucks on 2 songs that i like. I downloaded it and i still fucking hate it worst korn cd ever. Here's a good tip stay away from the gay ass techno industrial and go back making powerful music.

Believe it or not it's okay to like bands that are "Nu-Metal" like Korn, Disturbed, System Of A Down, and Static-X and still like bands like Slayer, Anthrax, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, etc., etc. Your world will not come to an end I promise you. I'm 31 and when the big thrash explosion happened in the late '80's/early '90's it was considered a sin to like Slayer, Metalllica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testamant, Overkill, and Iron Maiden and still like bands like Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, and Skid Row. I pulled this off back then and just like now the world didn't end, the planets stayed allined, and mass chaos didn't ensue. This CD isn't bad. I dug it and hope they don't fall off the face of the earth like everyone feels they should.

I could *almost* have gone w/what U're sayin shinobi, when I first got it i was actually gettin PISSED that it wasn't destroying me, and suddenly a fourth of the way thru SOUVENIR I realized I was listening to this new korn at POLITE levels and I said FUCK THAT SHIT and yanked on the volume knob to 11 and lo! and behold, if that riff munky plays didn't fill up the universe & kick me into the DIRT, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit its all about crankin it UP on the stereo & who gives a FUKK what the neighbors say! 1. It does not matter if 200,000 people are brainwashed or not, the fact is that if Korn are on track to sell that many records in one week, they are far from 'over.'
2. I would be very careful how you lable all korn fans as brainwashed children. I, for one, am a college educated, thirty-year -old married man with kids and a high paying job. Perhaps when korn first came out they appealed to the teenage crowd, just like almost very metal/rock band when they first come out. That includes Pantera, The Beatles, Slayer, Metallica, or just about any other metal/rock band.
But, keep in mind that Korn came out over 10 years ago. A lot of the loyal fans are now grown and doing well in life, like myself. Why I responded to an idiot like you is beyond me. I guess I have a lot of time on my hands today.

I also like last legal drug, the lyrics are ace & there's no one else that sounds like that, musically. i was surprised to find a song that was *relevant* to our times from korn. same w/politix & hypocrites. can you say back in the saddle. yeah man just crank it up & make sure you give it the few requisite listens before trashin it, and sparkin up won't hurt none either /good luck

Slayer is great and all, actually they're the fucking shit, but if only they had the balls to evolve like Korn..........they could take over the fucking world. Pure and simple. Too many bands are afraid of change, or just don't have the creativity left in them. And they know there will always be those loyal fans, like many blabbermouth morons, that stick by them just because of the fact that they're HEAVY or they play GUITAR SOLOS, all the while bashing bands like Korn who are at least TRYING something new, and creating something amazing and distinct in the process. The article at the top of the page could very well read "200,000 Slayer fans bought the new Slayer album.........only to realize they already had it." Who's pulling the wool over who's eyes??

backslider makes. korn evolve. the amazing thing is . . .that they can still do it! even w/out headly! man that says a lot about the creativity inherent to all the members in the band, even fieldy (to the racist pig who slandered him above).
to say SYOTOS is anywhere *at all* comparable to *koff*/st anger/*chokegag* smacks of uber-defensiveness. st anger was a failure cuz it was a classic metal band tryin to cash in on a market they have no business stickin their noses into. SYOTOS on the other hand, is definitive proof that the remaining 4 guys in korn have more than enuff talent between them to continue on w/out their cofounder & mentor Brian Welch.
Maybe bands like metallica & slayer SHOULD stick w/the same ol' metal . ..as apparantly its all they can do. Meanwhile we got 4 guys from bakersfield who are keeping the revolution going, more power to em I say

I love reading people's comments. It shows how ignorant and unintelligent people really are in this world. People are entitled to an opinion. Just put some thought into it. On a different note. I just saw Korn in Worcester Ma on the 8th of December. Nothing like seeing Korn in a small theater setting. Korn is a great live band. They played from the new album. Twisted Transitor, Hypocrite-Great Live Song, Undone, and Liar-The best new song in my opinion. Korn will put allot of bands to shame live. The crowd just goes crazy. With Head missing it was weird to see them on stage. They did have a roadie or studio musician playing Heads parts off to the side of the stage. I don't think you could pull off Korns music without the 2 guitar attack. People need to understand that every band evolves. Look at Metallica the best live band. They have evolved for good or bad depending on the way you look at it. People change as they get older. I'm much different now at 32 than 18. People mature and so doesn't music. Think about that.

It's about time a black metal band like Korn finally made it to the top. That kicks ass. Korn are going down as the most evil sadistic band in history. This is just the beginning. Let this be a lesson to the Hollywood underground.
This is not a joke. There was no sarcasm added. Korn are really at the top of the black metal scene just like back then when KISS started it all. But don't give up. Stay young.
