BLACK SABBATH: Text Of BRIAN MAY's UK HALL OF FAME Speech Posted Online
- Dec. 13, 2005
|
|
When BLACK SABBATH were inducted into the UK Hall of Fame last month, they were introduced by Brian May of QUEEN. Brian is a longtime friend of Tony Iommi's, and Brian is the only other guitarist to ever appear on a BLACK SABBATH record ( Brian does the guitar solo on "When Death Calls" from 1989's "Headless Cross"). Brian gave a really nice introduction speech for the ceremony, which touched on the entire history of the band, not just the Ozzy/ Tony/ Geezer/ Bill incarnation. A text of Brian's speech can be found at BrianMay.com. Download an MP3 file containing the audio of Brian May's speech at this location.

"Posers love Black Sabbath". Okay, so your list of posers must include every fucking metal band ever to play a distorted power chord. Are you a fucking techno, pop, or country fan or what? God knows you know absolutely shit about metal. Your name proves it if not your idiotic troll comments about things you have no understanding of.

Mr Dimebagsucks, despite his hobby of trying to anger people, is probably right that Sabbath haven't really hit the greatest heights since Live Evil. The only great album since then has been Tyr. The albums with Gillan and Glenn Hughes were disappointing. So was Dehumaniser, with the exception of 'After All' - a great song. Eternal Idol and Headless Cross were quite good, but flawed. Cross Purposes weak and Forbidden terrible.
Unfortunately, Ozzy is probably too decrepit to make another good Sabbath album, even if his wife let him. Pity, as I'm sure Sabbath could have made one more great album before retiring.
But the first two GZR albums are great, especially Black Science'

I feel that I gotta defend "Born Again" here. "Born Again" had, I think, Ian Gillans greatest vocal performance. Just LISTEN to that album again...awesome! Ian Gillan RULES.

I'll listen to Born Again if i can get the remixed version without geezer's bass up so loud, yes, i do think disturbing the priest is great, and a couple of others, but my expectations were higher so i was disappointed. But I've heard a bootleg of Sabbath with Gillan live, and it was great. Hotline was great, and they played Smoke on the Water!
And outsdier, Mob Rules is good, but tries to hard to be heaven and hell. compare the opening and closing tracks on each.
Most underated Sab albums are Tech Ec and Never say die

. . . when I'm actually a poseur (learn how to spell, dimebagsucks) for liking them.
I guess I'll just have to go back in time to 1977 and *not* buy "Paranoid" after hearing my friend's 8-track in his mom's car. How could I let myself get sucked into being a poseur by buying music that sounded good. Shit. Fuck.
And, dimebagsucks, thanks again for your homophobic commentary. You, sir, are *truly* an original. Who would have thought to make clever witticisms via implying that gay folks and metal don't mix. Bravo!
Idiot

I just cannot get enough of you fangirls. You all remind me of the idiots in those Miller beer commercials: "Tastes Great" no "Less Filling." I wonder what would happen if I said, "pepsi is better than Coke." You all would probably freak out and pee yer fuckin pants depending on yer sugar beverage choice.
Bottom line: You all idiots are conformist morons that take shit way to seriously. Hehehehe, they got a sale on cry towls at Walmart go get some and sop up yer tears, and wipe the cum off yer face from the jizz of yer Black Sabbath boys.
Also, to the idiot who wants to correct my spelling: It is either POSER or POSEUR. Look shit up before attempting to be smart, moron/POSER.

If you think Forbidden and Cross Purposes are better than Technical Ecstasy, then either you have already had a lobotomy or you fucking need one quick.
Technical Ecstasy, apart from a couple of weak tracks, is great. Back Street Kids is one of the heaviest songs Sabbath ever recorded. Dirty Women is all time classic. You Won't Change me and Gypsy are both excellent songs. It's Alright is ... alright, and RNR Doctor not bad for a change of style, consider Sabbath started as a blues rock band anyway.
