MASTODON To Play New Year's Eve Show In Atlanta

MASTODON will play a very special New Year's Eve show in their hometown of Atlanta at The Masquerade. Support at the gig will come from ARTIMUS PYLEDRIVER, GONZALEZ and CINJED. Tickets and more information can be found at www.masq.com. MASTODON are tentatively planning on entering the studio in February with longtime producer Matt Bayles to begin recording the follow-up to "Leviathan", tentatively due late summer 2006 via Warner Bros. While it's too early to know exactly what the band's next album will sound like, the band's drummer, Brann Dailor, told Revolver magazine that it will likely be more progressive and thrashier. "We've been listening to a lot of newer KING CRIMSON and getting off on that," he explained. "But also, we toured with SLAYER and listened to them every night for three months, and that's gotta have some sort of effect."

yea these guys are really overrated.i remeber when they first came out they were already getting this hype.with things saying they were the next metallica.these dudes are no where near metallica there not even metal!!!.there nothing more than a stoner band disguised and marketed as some oldschool throwback metal band.fuck these guys!!!.the only thing that makes them even decent is there drummer.everything else they play and write could be done by 14 yr olds.

Hurricane ~ Funny you should mention Artemis Pyledriver I've had an EP of theirs for about a year called 'Southern fried' I listened to it once and never again - until last week I SMACKED it is the CD player AGAIN and ... FUCK ME ... THEY ARE QUITE FUCKING COOL ... Very Bluesy as well .... but good nevertheless .... only 5 kick ass tracks - I WANT MORE !!!!

Hey man, I'm really looking forward to see on stage covering "Workhorses" or "Where strides the Behemoth"...
Your comment is so utterly stupid it proves you know absolutely nothing at all about this band and metal in general...
So go back listening to St. Anger, because it sounds oh so less stoner than Mastodon...
Actually, Metallica is a stoner band since Load, so whatever your problem is with stoner, you should first buy a pair of ears before listening to music and post such immensely pointless comments.

is the reason I'd go to this show. I'm from Atlanta, and for some reason I still can't get into Mastodon. I've only seen the video for "Blood and Thunder" on KNAC.com, so I should probably download some shit before deciding not to go.
Artimus Pyledriver is one hell of a band. A little bit of CoC, a little Pantera, a little Skynyrd, and a whole lotta Sabbath. Check 'em out if you can. The live show rules!

Yeah and there are 14 year olds that can play Malmsteen perfectly. Either way Mastodon rules, Never really met any one that was completely hooked on the first listen. I've Leviathan for months and still have fully digested it. I find something new every single time. My friend continually told me they sucked, as he listened to his coveted Lamb of God. I took him to a show and needless to say he shut the fuck up and bought a t-shirt too. Too bad the super shitty Death By Stereo opened.
So stick a quarter in your ass because you played yourself.
