STAIND To Close Out HOWARD STERN's Final FM Broadcast - Dec. 14, 2005
STAIND will be the sole musical guest on Howard Stern's final traditional radio broadcast, slated for Friday, December 16. The group will perform on 56th Street in Manhattan, outside the studios of radio station K-Rock (WXRK). Stern and his show will move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January.

A longtime STAIND fan and friend, Stern invited the band to create their own rendition of "The BeetleJuice Song" — originally performed on the show by frequent guest BeetleJuice. STAIND debuted their original acoustic arrangement of the song on "The Howard Stern" show this past summer. A recording of that live performance is included on the new limited-edition CD/DVD of STAIND's current album, "Chapter V". Entitled "This Is Beetle" aka "The BeetleJuice Song", it was written by Lester Green (aka BeetleJuice) and composer Richard Christy (former DEATH/ICED EARTH drummer and current Stern sidekick).

That same night, December 16, STAIND will headline the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, presented by K-Rock. The show is part of the band's current "Fall Brawl" cross-country tour, which also features Atlantic labelmates P.O.D. and TAPROOT, plus Texas rockers FLYLEAF.

The just-released limited edition CD/DVD version of "Chapter V" features the entire original album, plus five bonus tracks — including an acoustic version of "It's Been Awhile" and "This Is Beetle". The bonus DVD features a full band documentary, plus extras including the "Right Here" video, two songs filmed live, bonus interviews, and outtakes. The deluxe package includes a 36-page book featuring the lyrics to all STAIND songs, a photo history of the band, and liner notes.

I was not surprised that this band was able to suck all of the fun and energy out of the Beetlejuice song and turn it into one of their typical somber crap-fests. Howard rules.... but Staind blows!

was a local radio host here when I was a kid. He sucked then and, from what little I've heard of him since, he's only gotten worse. That makes Staind a perfect guest for his last show. Fate, kismet, what have you.

blessed be.

It was written as a joke, but it has caught on like wildfire. Stern's show is not the show he would like to do because of the FCC, plain & simple. Get with the program & stand up for your freedom of speech rights. I have my lifetime subsciption to Sirius & if you were aware of the stuff Stern is going to do, you'd sign up in a heartbeat. I've even signed up for his INDEMAND show that are the E show's COMPLETELY uncensored. Plus the stuff in the future is going to be amazing. Stern UNCENSORED???? He will truly prove himself as the King of ALL Media once he begins to do HIS show the way HE intends it to be, without ANY restrictions.

than Howard Stern, and that's saying something! Michael Savage is a huge dick on-air. Even the times I agree with him I think he's an asshole. Howard Stern has no real talent for interesting radio programming. I can't believe the number of people who will threaten to kill you (insert expletives) if you don't like him. What's to like? BORING! LAME! FREQUENTLY DISGUSTING! Yeah I wanna waste my time listening to that crap. With the amount of money Sirius is paying this hack you would think they could spend it on getting better programming. Yes, I have Sirius, and frankly am not impressed with it. Luckily I don't pay for it as it came free for life with my wife's new car a couple of years ago. If that's the "future" of radio as one guy said, then fuck it, it's CD's for the rest of my life! Seriously! Here's my open letter to Sirius:

Please stop the AXL ROSE FELLATIO FEST! Guns 'n' Roses are dead! They are played even more on Sirius than they are on classic rock FM stations now.

Please stop the Nirvana fellatio fest. Kurt Cobain is dead! Let him stay that way! An occasional song by Nirvana (and G'n'R) is fine, but every fucking hour on multiple stations?!

Please do away with Octane 20 and re-form it so it lives up to the "pure hard rock" billing. I realize that "pure hard rock" is NOT metal, but it's not that stupid rap shit with Fred Durst and some street thug saying "shut the fuck up" over and over either. Also, the DJ's on Octane are easily the weakest on all of Sirius. I don't want to hear about your underwear, I don't want to hear about your sex life. I want to hear about the music. But then if you're going to play shit like Nickelback, maybe you don't have much to talk about in the way of music. Am I against Nickelback being on the radio? No, but put it on the correct station. There should be a "Sirius Hits" where you can stick that "I been down to the Bottom of Every Bottle" shit.

Thank you for the variety on Hard Attack 27 but please continue to expand it. There are too many screaming bands on there. How that got to be considered a benchmark of metal is beyond me. Keep guys like Ian Christe on there because they actually play good stuff and know what they're talking about. Play more old school thrash.

Thank you for Buzz Saw but there are more bands out there than a rotation of Led Zeppelin, Guns 'n' Roses, the Scorpions, and AC/DC with some occasional Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Van Halen thrown in (and various members of those bands' solo songs). There is a lot of good "hard and heavy classic rock" and there could certainly be a wider variety played.

I can't wait till the last show tomorrow, it's gonna rule. I'll out there on the street with my buds wishing Howard goodbye and I've already got my Sirius set up so I won't moiss a moment of the new stuff.

Oh, and Staind is not a band I even like but their version of the Beetljuice song is hilarious.
