AUDIOSLAVE Guitarist Plays Solo Show In Kenya

Launch Radio Networks reports: AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello's solo alter ego, THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, was back on duty earlier this month for a show in Nairobi, Kenya, according to his publicist. Morello was visiting relatives in the African nation and hanging out at a local club called the Cork one night when the house band recognized him and persuaded him to get onstage and play. Morello borrowed an acoustic guitar and ran through several of his political folk songs to what was called an "uproarious" reception.
The former RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE axeman said in a statement, "It has been quite a year. First to play an unforgettable show in Cuba with AUDIOSLAVE and then to play a NIGHTWATCHMAN show in Nairobi, Kenya. From kick ass rock 'n' roll to political folk tunes, music clearly transcends all borders."
Morello has performed as the NIGHTWATCHMAN for several years, with his first high-profile exposure in the role coming on 2003's Tell Us The Truth tour.
Morello's parents met in Kenya and his father still lives there. His great uncle was Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president and leader of the resistance against British colonialism.
AUDIOSLAVE plans to record songs for its third album sometime shortly after the holidays.

I'm in a posting mood tonight, I guess...
Anyway, Audioslave is OK...but therein lies the problem....they are simply OK. The parts are greater than the sum. Taking guys from Rage and Soundgarden, two groundbreaking and phenominal bands, you'd think such a "supergroup" would be able to make some killer shit (I'm not comparing anyone to Eric Clapton...but Cream comes to mind when talking about "supergroups"). Instead, these guys have made some OK, decent records but nothing that makes you stand up and go "holy shit". That's the problem. Lets hope they can get it together for the third album instead of making sub-par music that panders to the mediocre masses.

Tom's ancestors more than likely were not slave traders, unless they traded with Arabs and Russians. Mostly only west coast Africans traded captured tribes and black prisoners with Brazillian, Carribean and American slave traders.
Tom is a great human and unbelievable guitar player. Audioslave is great and so was RATM.
