Former LED ZEPPELIN Frontman Helps Charity - Dec. 21, 2005
The Associated Press is reporting that former LED ZEPPELIN frontman Robert Plant has secured $60,000 dollars for a Carefree-based charitable donation that aids nomadic people in drought-stricken West Africa.

The singer previously committed proceeds from a four-song CD released by his current band, ROBERT PLANT AND THE STRANGE SENSATION.

However, the CD sales failed to generate the royalties Plant expected so he made other arrangements.

Plant made an appeal to P-A-R Charitable Trust, a small grant-making organization that agreed to make up the gap needed to build and operate school dormitories for 200 children for three years.

The trust will supplement proceeds from the CD sales to build eight dorms and provide meals, blankets, school uniforms and medicine for students in four locales in Mali.

I don't care if he does it for the fame etc...whatever anyone does to help the poor, for whatever reason, is always good in my book. Happy Winter Solstice to all.

All Hail Led zeppelin!

Robert Plant may not have the voice he used to, christ, if you'd drank, drugged, smoked and partied for as long as those guys did you'd probably be dead!

Saying that, I think Robert still sounds bloody brilliant compared to the absolute garbage drivel shite these days, where its all about screaming! Robert does something that is called "SINGING" and its beautiful!

Real Rock and Roll for Ever!

people donating time & $$$$ to help out the less fortunate.

Glad to see Plant & Page doing this kinda thing. Yes, I know they are doing stuff separately, not as "Plant & Page" for publicity.

There are tons of covers of this song... Gregorian Chant, DIsco, Tiny Tim, Frank Zappa, Dread Zeppelin's version, Great White, Zebra, Heart...

Seeing them in clubs, the Zebra version of "...Stairway..." always takes me back to a special place and time...
