AVENGED SEVENFOLD will be embarking on the second leg of their "Cities of Evil" headlining tour beginng in late January. Support at all dates will come from CKY. The details are as follows:

The only reason they posted this is so they can sit back and laugh at the two or three people on here that will get all worked up over other people trashing these bands. It shouldn't be on this site because it's not metal. Just like anything about Staind, Limp Bizkit, or Linkin Park. (You get the picture)

...I like what I have heard of Avenged Sevenfold. Their lyrics are refreshing (not the same ol' Devil Worshipping gimmick we have to put up with so much lately). Also, their guitarists can straight shred and their drummer nails it.
BTW, check out Strung Out if you haven't already. Killer punk/metal fusion band. I suggest their latest CD, Exile in Oblivion. Little punk, little metal, guitar solos, double bass - good stuff!

Avenge Sevenfold are doing really well for themselves, I've never paid enough attention to know about CKY. but Ax7, their ok, but I think they changed to make money in some ways.

i bet half of you havent even heard avenged sevenfolds album. i thought they were some crappy metalcore emo band as well until i borrowed the album off of someone.
sure, the vocals sometimes are a bit pop punky, but my god, the music that is getting played behind the vocals is pretty much on par with what is metal today, and dare i say it; the same as a lot of your "underground" bands play. god, there are even songs where the singer grows some balls and screams, and has a gravel quality to his voice.
they are a good band, so before you just go nuts and say "gaqy gay gay gay gay" because they are on the cover of some magazine, give them a listen and you'll find out they are one of the better new bands of 2005. too bad they got buried in all that metalcore press, so now everybody thinks they are metalcore..

A7X fucking rocks, sure they might be poppy, but hey asshole listen to the fuckin music, not m. shadows' whiny girly vocals. Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance are easily one of the best guitar duos out there and can play circles around most metal guitarists out there. The Reverend(drummer) is almost like John Bonham reincarnated, the man is the most amazing drummer out there.so to all the haters out there fuck you, you simple minded pricks

I always ASSumed from their image (and name) that they were some kind of Orange County Skate/Pop/Punk band (I assumed something like Blink 182 or Good Charlotte)....but then I saw one of their videos and I said "wow...these guys can play!"...so I picked up their new CD "City Of Evil" and was blown away!
I don't know the story on these guys...if it is trendy or uncool to like them, but these guys are great players!! (picture Paul Gilbert, Joey Jordison and Mike Patton putting together a pop/metal band!)
And they write some really cool, untraditional, almost proggy pop songs, but with catchy hooky choruses....I can't believe these guys are getting the commercial acceptance & exposure they are with a sound that sounds more like Iron Maiden meets DT than anything else that's currently on MTV!

As for Deron Miller, I applaud him. He called alot of you guys out for how you are, and is right in what he said. What I like most about you guys complaining, is that while you sit there talking shit on the bands, they're out there having the time of their lives.

As usual, this boards bash stuff without doing their homework. Everyone wants to deride A7X as pop punk, but no one's even listened to their music. Vocally thay've changed dramatically on this album, because the singer damaged his voice from growling.
On Awaken the Fallen there are growls to rival "your favorite norwegian/swedish" death bands, and guitar parts that would never be confused for good charlotte or fall out boy. (check out the first thirty seconds of eternal rest) Seriously listen to it. I probably WOULD dismiss them too with only city of evil, but when you listen to the old stuff you can see the evolution. There is a punk influence, but it's METAL. If you can listen to Awaken the Fallen and tell me it's not a metal album, you don't know what you're talking about.
That said, it is refreshing to see something that I like get some press and publicity here in america. Yes 13 year old girls could listen to it, but any bands that claims influences from Maiden and Pantera (and believe me there are there) can't be all bad.

the guitarists in Avenged Sevenfold can shred better than most of the bands all you bashers listen to. Yes, I was disheartened a bit when they gave up screaming for the latest album, but who says you need to have screaming to be a good band? Just because a band has catchy vocals doesn't mean they're some shitty pop band. I doubt any pop punk band out there has fast double bass, ripping solos, and songs that are all at least five minutes in duration. I understand if you're not into them, but calling them a shitty band is simply ignorant.

but no solo in that song or any other.
and every other song is the same.
and every song is in fuckin 4/4 time. thats a reason it sounds the same. and they barely use all 6 strings.
Avenged sevenfold does have some queer shit they wear sumtimes but they are some talented musicians. and if they chose not to scream thats their choice. its theyre fucking band they can do w/e the fuck they want and if they want to sell a platinum record they fucking will.
