HELLOWEEN: Polish Concert Cancelled Due To Poor Ticket Sales
- Dec. 22, 2005
|
|
German power metallers HELLOWEEN have been forced to cancel their Polish concert, which was scheduled for January 12, 2006 at Poznan's Arena due to "poor ticket sales," according to the promoter, Metalfest. Only 150 tickets (for an over-4,000-capacity venue) had reportedly been sold at the time of the cancellation, reports Interia.pl. Special guests for this show were going to be fellow Germans PRIMAL FEAR. HELLOWEEN played two concerts in Poland (Cracow and Warsaw) in November. As previously reported, HELLOWEEN's entire pre- Nuclear Blast catalog will be reissued via Sanctuary during 2006. The albums will be remastered and will contain bonus tracks, including b-sides and other rarities. More information is available at this location. HELLOWEEN's latest album, "Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy", is available now on SPV Records. The lineup on the record includes singer Andi Deris, guitarists Michael Weikath and Sascha Gerstner, bassist Markus Großkopf and drummer Dani Löble (ex- RAWHEAD REXX). Produced by Charlie Bauerfeind ( BLIND GUARDIAN, HALFORD, RAGE), "Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy" was released as a high-quality digipack with six flaps. (Thanks: Wicker Man)

I recently purchased the "new" keeper of the seven keys- the legacy. I was very dissapointed when I finished listen to it. It lacks the power and the energy that the previous two keeper had. If you are going to name an album that contains a title of a master piece JUST try to at least do a decent job, not what helloween did here which is CRAP..............to cash money out of their fans.

If they cancelled only because of that, then they've got rockstar-fever blinding their fucking brain.
I was one of the 200 people (or a bit less) who saw Dismember down in Argentina, South America, they gave a heck of a show and didn't bitch about the amount of people that were there.
"omg, im not giving the few polish fans the pleasure to see us live because we'll get no money out of it" stupid Weikath

Especially when they've got Primal Fear backing them up. I'm going to see them both in February, they'd better not cancel or else!!!
Or else I won't be able to go I suppose.

Shouldn't you do as much as you can to hold to the precious few fans that you have?
Otherwise, egomania takes hold and you end washing cars for a living. I don't care for Helloween at all, very trite musically but like most sucky bands there are fans.
Merry Christmas Helloween Fans! Enjoy your refund.

I am sure it is not cheap to get to Poland. I am sure Helloween get paid a few thousand dollars at least to play a show, and when you sell 150 tickets in a 4000-seat venue, both the promoter and band are going to lose a lot of money if the show goes on. It is one thing to just go and play a show when it doesn't put you in the negative if the crowd is small, but business is business.
And, yes, the new album IS pretty lame.

in a few weeks.
speaks volumes for the new album and the state of the band. theyve fallen so far in 5 short yrs.
and 200 cap. for USA is pretty bad, but in europe?? thats really weak. fans are not buying into the new weikath ass kissing line-up.
and like an above poster said, 200 people paid to see them. lose the rock star mentality, cause you are not. pop stars maybe, rock stars no

Yep Uli Kusch was amazing, like Mickey Dee crossed with Nicko McBrain. Really technical but with an awesome feel and groove.

Wait!!!
You have to remember that the show promoter is the one who actually has to cancel things here. He might lose a good amount of money if HELLOWEEN play 'cause he'd have to pay them.
If I were the show promoter, I'd definitely do it no matter what... sorry for those 150 guys, but life is like that.

That's a shame - and a sympton that their career is definitely on the downward spiral. Even my freakin' underground band gathered 300 people on last weekend's gig, HAHAHA!

This article is typical of Blabbermouth.
Make fun of some bands so the blabbermouth board guys come to speak shit. A ha ha ha ha. Funny, indeed.
They already played Poland - Cracow-23/11 and Warsaw-24/11 I was in both show, pretty packed up by the way. I think Poznan was included recently, but not many important bands go there to play 'cause there are no much metalheads. Sad, but true. :(

Interesting, but it's not up to a professional band to set up their own shows in a city they hardly know that's why there are gig promoters.

I agree with the posts above about Uli Kusch. What a great drummer.
Concerning the cancellation, shit happens and "6hairball6", take no offense dude but your suggestion is way out of place.
According to "caughtinamosh" , there aren't many bangers in that city. That explains why there's been this poor ticket sales. Who wouln't want to see Primal Fear?. They're even much better than Helloween.

big deal Anthrax or some other Thrash Metal band also cancelled the show in the same venue due to the same poor ticket sales shit.
Anyways I wouldn't go to see Helloween nor Primal Fear, whose singer is a cheap imitator of Rob Halford.

Oh come on man. Not everybody sucks. I live in Poznan and it's true in this shitty city there aren't many metal fans which sucks. I was really impressed that helloween could include a date here. Easy comes, easy goes. Damn. I'm so fucking pissed off. I should have listened to my friends "Come with us to Cracow. Fuck this city fuck fuck fuck fuck...

COMMENT | Polish Concert Cancelled Due To Poor Ticket Sales

Hi out there!
My name is Kosta, I am the tour manager of Helloween on their “Keeper of the seven Keys – The Legacy World Tour 2005/2006”. After reading some of the postings on blabbermouth I really think it´s time to drop a line to all of you. It seems to me some people in here get off on writing just negative things, no matter if true or not.
The tour is going very good so far considering both, ticket sales and reactions of the audience. Helloween played two shows in Krakow and Warsaw late November last year: Both clubs were packed and the Polish fans got wild and had a great time. It is true the show in Poznan was cancelled, but this was not the decision of the band. It always takes two to promote a concert successfully…
Alone the European leg of this tour includes more than 50 shows, followed by South East Asia, South America and North America. We can´t complain at all about a lack of success so far, I just want to give you a couple numbers of ticket sales: Zlin & Pardubice (both Czech Republic) 3500 each, Helsinki 1600, Stockholm 1800, Gothenburg 2000, Madrid 2200, Barcelona 1600, Karlsruhe, Germany 1500…and so on – at the moment I am writing this we are in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the guys rock their two hour show in a sold out club.
One last word to the guys posting “get Kiske back in the band”: Michael made more than once clear that he is not into metal at all anymore, and we all should respect this decision. If you don´t like the music of Helloween 2006 the band accepts this, luckily there is a couple hundred thousands of fans on this planet who still do….
Best regards,
Kosta
