OZZY OSBOURNE Says He Doesn't Want To Put Out Another BLACK SABBATH Album

ContactMusic.com is reporting that Ozzy Osbourne has ruled out a reunion album with BLACK SABBATH, because he doesn't want to tarnish their reputation.
Despite being happy to play with them in one-off live gigs, Osbourne, whose last BLACK SABBATH studio album was in 1978, refuses to return to the studio with his former bandmates.
Ozzy is terrified a new record would not match the standard of previous releases, including "Paranoid" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath".
He says, "I love the guys and we had fun and all became friendly again. But it's time to move on.
"I don't want to make another SABBATH album, not if it's not up to scratch. I could put any old b**locks out and it would probably sell.
"But what's the point in demolishing such a great thing?"

First of all they can't call up \m/ DIO \m/ because unless they dont use the name Black Sabbath Iomi signed a deal that unless Ozzy is the singer the name Black Sabbath can not be used, so sorr but \m/ DIO \m/ will never sing with Sabbath again. As for it not living up to the standards I think it would be better then Never Say Die, why not go out with a bietter album. Come on Ozzy it would be great for another Sabbath album.

They don't have to call it Black Sabbath really. I'm sure everyone would know who it was anyway. Hell, some of my favorite Sabbath songs had Dio singing anyway. I could really care less about a name, give us some good music damnit!! Someone needs to save us from the wannabe cookie monster bands, the blink 182s, Limp Bizkits and Korns.

At last the once-cool madman realises what has become of him and his awful wife! For 10 + years Sabbath was my favourite band but things have changed for the worse during the last couple of years. At first I was delighted with the possibility of a reunion album, now I don't care anymore. This band has lost it for me. Some guy above wrote that Priest recorded a comeback with Angel Of Retribution??!! WTF??? That is an awful album, even by Priest standards!!!

What that really means is:
Ozzy is terrified that anything he records will not match the standard of "Heaven And Hell", "Mob Rules", and "Dehumanizer".... all of which raised the bar far above anything Ozzy ever did with that band.

I think Ozzy's just too lazy to put out anything that requires more effort than a crappy album or another compilation cd. But then again he is getting old for this kinda thing, especially with all the shit he did when he was younger thats probably coming back to haunt him now. Maybe its time for Ozzy to just retire and let someone else take over.

that he's said that's made any sense. Even he knows he can't live up to his own legacy. He knows he's been to the top of the mountain and nothing he could do would equal his past. Kind of like everything he's done since Diary of a Madman. It's all be rather mediocre music since. The Randy Rhoads years were the pinnacle of his solo years. This is a man in decline and he's actually smart enough to realize it. Whyle and Lee are good guitarist but I think they're talents were wasted on Ozzy. Nothing compares to Rhoads and Iommi for their contribution to making Ozzy a metal legend. No one else, not even $auron can top those talents which probably explains why she's incredibly unhappy and jealous person. I'd almost pity her but she's abused her station in life with no remorse and the pain she inflicts on so many people. Very sad human being.

That's it, recording a new record with Sabbath would probably be the only thing that would redeem him after him selling his soul to $haron over the years and what O$$fe$t has done (and to him), especially last year. the album is done already they have probably been sitting on it for the past 4-5 years. if not then kick ozzy's sorry ass out. i heard him sing on something recently with sabbath and it was fucking horrible. he sucks now. but that is neither here nor there. any of their other singers that they have had would be a perfect replacement. dio. gillan. or martin. any of those dudes would be a welcome change.

This will never happen- first off, DIO will not be a part of anything called Sabbath. As someone said, Iommi signed some deal that unless Ozzy is on the mike, it won't be called Sabbath. So, no Sabbath record w/ Dio, Tony Martin, Ian Gillen, Ron Jeremy, etc.
Second, Ozzy is too far gone at this point- a new album would be a disappointment. Could you really look at a new Sabbath album and see the guy from 73, or would you just see the blithering tool running around shrieking "SHARON!!!!"
Third- Sabbath (w/ Ozzy) is comfortably riding a built-in, permanent fan base and wave of nostalgia. They can trot out a tour whenever they see fit and sell mad tickets. A new album won't be a money-maker, and so why bother? They're beyond artistic endeavors at this point, it's all well & good to just knock out the big songs and call it a night.
That's to say, the Ozzy lineup is beyond artistic endeavors... Iommi & Geezer are obviously putting out solid solo stuff and getting good marks. So, I say get Iommi, Geezer, Ward and Glen Hughes together. Call it something else- Slack Babbath for all I care. Then put out killer tunes, tour mid-sized arenas, have a blast & let Ozzy sink further into irrelevancy. Everyone wins!

the poster who said they cannot contractually do an album without Ozzy is correct. The Osbournes have tied up the band so they pretty much own them.
And why do an album where you would have to split the money where you can do one and get all the $$? Which is pretty funny as they need Sabbath to sell tickets for live shows. Go figure. Hell, Sharon offered to play Bill Ward less on the last tour and told him to take it or she would get Puffy Bordin to play. Luckily the innanet backlash forced her to relent, but who the fuck is she to decide who gets what? I mean, he's BILL FUCKIN' WARD!!

Anybody see Sabbath on the UK Music Awards a couple months back? What a sad sight that was. Of all songs, they managed to ruin Paranoid. I'm as big a Sab fan as anybody, but I cringed watching that. Oz can't sing like he used to, Bill's playing is sloppy as all hell. God bless Tony and Geezer though, they still hold shit down. Good for Ozzy for admitting his weakness. Based on the last couple weak-ass tracks they came up with together, I don't think I'd buy a new album of that shit. Bring back Dio, Glenn Hughes, or Tony Martin. They've all held up better as singers and would do a new Sabbath/Iommi record justice.

Ozzy puts out a solo album (or box set, whatever), Ozzy and Sharon get all the profits.
Sabbath puts out an album, and the band splits the profits between themselves.
It doesn't PAY to put out another Sabbath album, because he won't get all the money.

Sabbath will never write anything better than their first four albums - albums widely and correctly considered the birth of metal - so why bother? And of course the need for music from any of Sabbath's post-important period line-ups simply doesn't exist. Kudos to Ozzy for having the guts to walk away from something that would be no more than a pointless income stream.

OK, I understand. After the dreadful Under Cover album (obviously released to pay for Sharon and Kelly's shopping sprees) Ozzy has some catching up to do. A lot of die hard fans (like me) are on the edge of their beliefs in the Ozzman. He better release a killer solo album in 2006 or else it's over. But please don't perefrom witrh Sabbath anymore, everybody saw them several times back together and fun is over. Time to either make an album or call it quits with Ozzy. Too bad it has to end like this. I would have a liked a Farewell DVD with a nice tour documentary but I guess Sharon Onosbourne is keeping that up her sleeve for when the taxman cometh.
Tony Iommi and Ronnie Dio are already working together for some re-releases that maybe will feature new songs.

ok tony just call up tony martin and start recording again,those records you did with him were better than the ones with ozzy anyway. yes that's blasphemy but realy i liked sabbath better without ozzy aside from a classic songs. fuck you sharon and ozzy what legacy would you be tarnishing?the one where you release everything he has done twice and then put put a box set with everything in it again? and let's not forget the horrible covers cd. there was nothing wrong with the 2 studio tracks you did on reunion so get back and give us more or just retire for good no more one off shows singing the same old songs

Hey, the man is right this time. If there would be a new Sabbath album, it surely wouldn't live up to the expectations. Why ruin it? You who call yourselves "real fans(fan, fanatic)" think this true, would it be nice to hear a possibly/prolly a mediocre record? Just listen to the old albums and enjoy!

It's time to ditch Ozzy, and get DIO back. Thanks for the reunion tour, but we need another Sabbath Album. The fans want another album. Ozzy knows he cant cut it anymore. Get Dio back. The Sabbath stuff with Dio,Ian Gillian and Tony Martin is way underated in my opinion.Check out Dehumanizer,Born Again and Cross Purposes.SOme of the songs on those albums are far better than some of the shit Ozzy did with Sabbath.

Ozzy should retire...He made his mark, now it's time to move on. I'm not a fan of Black Sabbath, but one can't deny what they have done for the hard rock/metal world.

Thank God. That's the best thing he could have ever said. This band has been dead for too long. Iommi has got too many riffs left in him to just sit back and wait for an album that will never happen. On one hand, it's very sad news. On the other hand, it might just be a blessing in disguise. This may pave the way for more Iommi albums, or better yet, an Iommi-Dio collaberation outside of Sabbath.
I would like to say, that according to Joe Siegler, Tony Iommi still owns the name Black Sabbath. That "handshake deal" that supposedly took place between $haron and Tony Iommi is just rumor. That being said, when it comes to Sabbath, you just don't ever know what might happen. Never say die.

Ozzy should have done this in '95. Then i'd have saved money going to see his god awful show. He's a fucking joke and Black Sabbath are not really as great as everyone says they are. Face it.

At least he's wised up and realizes he doesnt have the stuff anymore. But tarnish the rep? They did that themselves first with countless crap albums after ozzy and dio and then the touring they've done with ozzfest.

Here's a bit of history from an old timer. In 1978 Sabbath put out Never Say Die. The album was both a critical AND commercial flop. Drugs, alcohol, and feuding were taking their toll on the band. On the subsequent Never Say Die tour, a young band by the name of Van Halen was opening and they were kicking Sabbath's ass every night (I know people older than me who saw this tour). After the tour, the band broke up and everyone thought Sabbath was dead. In walks Dio. He and Tony get together for what is SUPPOSED to be an Iommi solo album and their 1st song written together is Children of the Sea. Iommi likes what he hears and gets Gezzer and Bill back in the band. They release Heaven and Hell which goes Top 30 and their tours are selling out again. So far from killing Sabbath, Dio actually SAVED the band. That's not to diminish Ozzy's contributions but don't sell Dio short either (OK here come Dio short jokes). Personally, I don't get the Ozzy/Dio feuding among fans. While I PREFER Dio, Ozzy kicks ass too. As do Glenn Hughes, Ian Gillan, and Tony Martin. As always, just my opinion.
