TAD's Posthumous DVD To Include Footage From SOUNDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS Tours - Dec. 24, 2005
Greg Prato of Billboard.com is reporting that former members of acclaimed '90s rock band TAD are putting together a DVD documentary, as well as a CD of unreleased tunes recorded circa 1998, shortly before TAD's split. Singer/guitarist Tad Doyle says the DVD will feature "interviews with people that knew us and saw us play, interspersed with live video and some of the actual videos we did. There's various stuff from being on tour with SOUNDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS [but] I don't think there's much of being on tour with NIRVANA. I don't thing we were carrying cameras at that point. Most of the stuff I shot on video myself."

The DVD and CD are both expected to arrive sometime in 2007.

Having played with NIRVANA countless times over the years, including a mammoth European tour in 1989, TAD bassist Kurt Danielson still ruminates over the tragic life of Kurt Cobain. "Kurt had the best luck and the worst luck — both at the same time," he says. "He was the most gifted and the most cursed, and also the most ferocious, and the most innocent and the nicest. A bundle of extremes and opposites. But really a fun guy."

I didn't even know they split up! Shame! I'll buy the dvd for sure, and not because of the Alice in Chains and Soundgarden stuff, which is a welcome bonus don't get me wrong, but for the mighty TAD!

Yes, as far as I can recall, TAD was the band that was dropped from their label because of posters.

These guys definitely had some heaviness (both musically and gravitational-ly) , like the heavier moments of Helmet with the faster moments of the Melvins. Some material was so so, but overall Tad was a very cool, often overlooked band.

I actually broke out my Tad stuff and listened to it the other day. I wondered what happened to them and if Tad was still ulgy as he ever was. Check out the album 8 way Santa. (I have the banned cover version, you fans will remember that one.)

That's Tad, the man.

The band was pretty good, too! Saw 'em a bunch of times during the hey-day of Northwest Rock (sorry, I refuse to call it grunge). Saw Tad's huge bare ass when they opened for Mudhoney at Lamefest in '89 (with some no-name band - Nirvana - anybody know whatever happened to those guys?).

COMMENT | Hell yeah I love 8-way Santa!

I've got the uncensored version. Really cool stuff. It's nice to see so many Tad fans here! Yeah they were by far the heaviest grunge band out there!

Good call on refusing to refer to it as "grunge"-I agree. I love the treatment of the word "grunge" in the Seattle music scene doc Hype!
