DIO Slams PRESIDENT BUSH, Says OZZY's 'Performance' Has Nothing To Do With Music - Jan. 2, 2006
Legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio recently spoke to the U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine (web site) about George W. Bush and Ozzy Osbourne, among many other things.

On Bush, Dio said: "I've never supported him and certainly would never vote for him. I think he's a fool and a man without forethought. I have no confidence in him whatsoever. I think he's an idiot, I really do. He has done nothing to our country but drag it down to the ground. Some parts of our country are approaching third-world status. You can see that in New Orleans with what happened with the hurricane. He wasn't prepared, he didn't wanna be prepared and I'll go on record as saying he's a fool. He is. It's something we as Americans never thought we would see because we pride ourselves on being the most progressive, futuristic country there is, and then suddenly our chest was bared open and it's like, 'Oh, this is what you really are.' All the talk of how blacks are treated in America and it's covered up all the time — it's true, is it? I guess it is. What you have to understand is that those black faces you saw on TV didn't have the capability to get out of town. They didn't have money to go anywhere. They didn't have cars. And when you get out of the city of New Orleans proper, you're dealing with swampy backwards areas where people have lived in shacks all their lives — and are happy to do it — but as soon as the catastrophe started, they couldn't go, and where was the government to take them away? Where's this wonderful government that Bush promised us? They had Amtrak trains offering to take them away and the government said, 'Nah, we don't need that.' Unfortunately, it once again made us look like a bunch of racists."

On Ozzy, Dio stated: "He's not what I am, he's not what Ian Gillan is, he's not what Rob Halford is. If being a performer is stumbling around on stage, then I guess he's a performer. His character has become a characterization of himself, so people go to see if he'll fall off the stage, how many times he'll stumble or how many buckets of water he can throw. What has that got to do with music? To me, it's always been about music. If you can be a performer — I mean, there are some great singers who cannot perform at all — but if you can do all of that, you've got the bull by the horns. I've been lucky enough to be able to do that, but it starts and ends with the music. You're only as good as the songs you create.

"Unfortunately, Ozzy has been cast in the role, by other people, of somewhat of a fool. That's not a good enough reflection of what he thinks, so I'm not having a go at him. He's one of the creators of heavy metal music, but what he has become is the product of what people have wanted him to become, so they can make money out of him. He's the drug-abused stumble-bum that they have allowed him to be. They're like, 'Give him a few more pills and he'll get back on stage,' and that's a real shame. He doesn't deserve it and I would always like to have remembered Ozzy for what he created, not what I have occasionally seen on a reality show. It's harrowing; I just can't take it. He's a sweet guy. The times I spent with Ozzy in the old days — he was a lovely guy to be around, great sense of humor. But he's been used."

I can't disagree with anything Dio said about Bush or Ozzy.

Ozzy is a pretty lucky fellow by being fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who were smarter and more talented than he was/is. Even his wife... she has the brains and his side musicians and especially the musicians in Sabbath had all the talent and creativity. Yet, he gets all the credit.

I'll never forget that segment in the "Don't Blame Me" video where they get these people like Lars Ulrich and Joe Elliot to stand there and talk about how Sabbath was all about Ozzy and how insignifigant the other guys were. Lame.

Dio is a legend, and a respected musican, unlike S.O.A.D. I wouldn't compare Dio to them, because that is a joke. For a man who has been in the music business since the 50's, and has played in legendary(and influential) bands like Elf, Rainbow, Sabbath, and now Dio, he isn't even in the same category as those clowns. Plus, Dio has played with some of the best musicians ever. ie Cozy Powell, Geezer, Iommi, Blackmore, Vinnie Appice, Doug Aldrich, and every member of the Hear 'N Aid project.

Dio is also very well educated, and he doesn't run his mouth like other idiots, or other band ie Nikki Sixx, Adler's Appetite, Disturbed, etc. I respect what he says over what S.O.A.D. has to say.

Little Ronnie's upset because he can't figure out why he's the better singer YET Ozzy Osbourne is about a million times as successful as he is. Poor little Ronnie - crying about the unfairness of life - direct from the stage of your local House Of Blues. And senility seems to have robbed Little Ronnie of the ability to tell the difference between "characterization" and "caricature". What's Ozzy's performance have to do with music? Gee, why not ask the thousands who paid to see him last summer. Tiny Ronnie seems still pissed that they cancelled the remake of The Wizard Of Oz - thereby dashing his chance to imortalize himsalf onscreen playing the Mayor of Munchkinland.

I personally think that 70-75 Sabbath surpasses the Dio-era of Sabbath (which was still great). However, Ozzy has turned into a fucking joke. I never liked his solowork much, but in recent years the man and his godawful wife and tv-show have spoiled the old charme of early Black Sabbath as well. I never even play those fantastic albums anymore...

To say that Ozzy has no talent is nonsense though; the man has the most recognizable and (one of the) most important voices in metal history.

Dio is a far more skilled singer, also one of the most important voices in metal history. Awesome voice. But I find much of his solowork (just like that of Ozzy) not really impressive.

I don't think Bush has done the greatest job as president, but I don't think he's the worst either. No one can explain how this country would be better if Kerry had won. The guy never had a prayer because his only campaign strategy was to go around and basically say "I'm not Bush." Of course that won him quite a few votes, but not enough. The other thing that floors me is that all the Bush detractors are so two-faced in their assessment. One minute he's this raving mad lunatic who's bent on destroying America, corrupt and power hungry, and then the next minute he's too stupid to rub two brain cells together to do anything intelligent. Make up your minds, liberals, either he's a brilliant criminal who's methodically sabotaging our freedom, or he's a dumb-fuck red-neck. He can't be both. I for one, think he's spending way too much of our money, but I honestly believe he has a good heart and cares about the country. Some will call me naive, but then this is coming from a web site where 99 percent of the peoples' gut reaction to everything is hate, anger, and bitterness rather than intelligence, love, or understanding.

As far as Ozzy, I can't support him anymore. It kills me to see that he can't perform up to standard yet his ticket prices are outrageous. His wife keeps sending him out there and propping him up and taking the fans' money and not giving them what they deserve in return. Then she insults people day in and day out for the free press (Mother Theresa was going TOO FAR, Sharon) and Ozzy is either too brain-dead to care or he's not man enough to stand up and tell his wife to shut her mouth. Meanwhile, Dio cares about how his performance is. I've seen Dio 4 times, he never disappoints. Last time I tried to see Ozzy it was cancelled because he'd injured his foot, and the time before that he slurred his way through a Sabbath set of the same old songs he'd been playing for years.

And i think Ozzy has done more than his fair share of flying the flag for rock and CAPITALISM. which may be the reason for dio's latest "attack." as for other ozzy player haters, if you can't give ozzy respect you don't respect rock and roll. if dio did another album with sabbath i'd buy it and maybe alot of people would. but if OZZY did one with sabbath oh man it would be unreal. i think dio rules too but not as much as ozzy. and if he can't say something nice about ozzy or PRESIDENT bush, maybe he should just shut his hole about it.

I respect what Ozzy has done, but not what he is doing now. I think he should tell his wife to shut up and he should listen to his doctors and at least temporarily retire. I remember all the articles on Blabbermouth before Ozz-fest '05 when Ozzy and Sharon said they were going to go on with Ozz-fest even though his doctors told him he needed to rest for two years before singing. He should have done this. There's no shame in saying, hey, I'm not a young guy anymore and I need to do what's necessary in order to protect myself and my health. Instead he's going along and half-assing it because that's the best he can do. I think that's sad. I also think it's sad that there will most likely be no new Sabbath album either. What an egrigeous death the rest of that band is dying at the hands of Ozzy because Sharon owns the rights to them.

There's no denying Sabbath's impact on rock 'n' roll, but I feel the longer Ozzy goes out there, the more he tarnishes his and their legacy. It's kind of like the professional athlete that plays far beyond his prime because he just doesn't want to retire.

that's where i disagree. a boxer might get his brain beat in if he gets too slow to get out of the way. but rock music, unlike say "Opera," is more about having fun than hitting notes. when i go to a concert i just want to have a good time and i dont even care what it sounds like. i'm already a big fan or i wouldn't have paid $30(ozzfest always seems like a great deal). i've been a longtime Ozzy fan and i was shocked at the whole "tv show" thing but i always thought he was really hilarious and it was a HUGE hit. it wasn't music but it was better than most tv shows id rather have ozzy walking around his house mumbling than see "the real world" or some crap like that. and i think his music is bloody great and i'm not even british. alot and i mean alot of stuff that wasn't even widely released is really really great. i'll grant he isn't as good as halford but anyone else pales in comparison to Ozzy. just wait till his next studio album. the man doesn't disappoint. well, okay he doesn't disappoint me maybe i don't have these "high" standards or whatever. maybe i don't study hard enough or apply myself. i just like rock and roll. and i've never seen dio live i don't know if he's ever been around here maybe it just wasn't advertised enough for me to be aware of it. i dunno if i'd wanna hear some guy with a dragon on stage ripping Ozzy and the President anyway. plus Ozzy has WAAAY more better songs than dio. like i said Ozzy's only competition is halfford in MY humble estimation.

Bush, Kerry, and Gore are shit. THIS is the best our country has to offer?
National Debt: $8,087,357,559,005.85 (www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpenny.htm)
The bigger problem is despite the fact that the war is for oil, the American citizen still pays too much for oil. The oil companies collect the profits that WE deserve because OUR troops are dying, not the troops of the oil companies. Just switch to hydrogen fuel already!
And the biggest problem is that Bush approval ratings can drop as low as 37%, lower than Nixon during Watergate, and problems such as the Bush administration spying on American citizens (http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/12/17/bush.nsa/) can push on without someone shooting the guy in the face. Lead the revolution in 2008.

Ozzy? Whatever. I stopped caring about Ozzy when he let Sharon run the show. I think Ozzy AND Dio should retire. However, I've seen both live and Dio could actually move around like a normal person on stage. I have no respect for hard drug users. It doesn't make you cool.

If you like Bush so much then why don't you point out one good thing he has done?
And don't say "Saddam saddam blah blah" because there were no terrorists in Iraq before we invaded, but now we can't keep them out. Not to say Saddam is a good guy, cause he isn't, but if we are invading countries to honestly free people, then how come we are not invading Africa? There are thousands of children that are used as soldiers as young as 6-8 years old. They are forced to maim their parents to prove that they can kill. And why do we not invade? Because we will not get anything back. Why does Bush bash Venezuela, despite the fact that they have a democratically elected president with a 58% approval rating? Because Venezuela have socialist economic values? If this was true, then he would speak out against Canada, Switzerland, and Poland as well. The real reason why Bush speaks out against them is because the have oil, he wants it, and the Venezuelans make a fool out of Bush by giving heating oil to the poor in America. Now, name one good thing Bush has done, because I can name plenty of bad things.

THAT'S ROCK N ROLL

3RD.....OZZY IS WHAT 60 YEARS OLD GIVE OR TAKE?!?!?! YET HE STILL GETS OUT THERE AND PERFORMS! HE COULD THROW IN THE TOWEL, RETIRE, AND ROLL AROUND IN A BED MADE OF MONEY ALL DAY FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE IF HE WANTED, BUT HE CHOOSES TO STAY OUT THERE AND NOT ONLY PERFORM FOR HIS FANS, BUT HELP OTHER BANDS GET RECOGNIZED AND POSSIBLY ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS SOMEDAY THEMSELVES! HE IS DECADENT............

THAT IS ROCK N ROLL

4TH.....OZZY DOEN'T GET ON WEBSITES (OR ANYWHERE FOR THAT MANNER) AND TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH HE HATES THIS OR THAT BAND, WHY THEY SUCK, AND HOW BLACK SABBATH /OZZY IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER BLAH BLAH BLAH....ONCE AGAIN HE HELPS OTHERS AND GIVES THEM A FOOT IN THE DOOR TO WHERE THEY CAN RISE UP AS WELL (INCLUDING IRON MAIDEN, WHOM I ALSO AM PASSIONATE ABOUT, BUT NONE-THE-LESS THEY WERE IN SOMEWHAT OF A SLUMP UNTIL THIS WHOLE OZZFEST DEBACLE)! (ALSO OZZY >HIMSELF< HAS NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER SAID ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT BRUCE OR THE REST OF THE BAND)!

THAT IS ROCK AND ROLL

5TH....WHILE MAYBE NOT A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO MUSIC IN AND OF ITSELF....ANYONE WHO GETS SHIT FACED PLASTEDED, PUTS ON A STOLEN SUN DRESS AND LAPS UP NIKKI SIXX'S PISS.......WELL MY FRIENDS..........................

THAT IS ROCK N ROLL!!!

AT THIS POINT IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE FACT THAT OZZY IS, WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ROCK N ROLL THEN YOU NEVER WILL! AND THAT'S REALLY TO BAD....BUT HEY, MAYBE YOU AND YOUR DEPRIVED GENERATION CAN THROW IN A NU - SKOOL ALBUM OR A HIP HOP DISC AND TALK ABOUT WHO YOU WANT TO "CAP" AT SCHOOL NEXT WEEK!

IF ozzy was that type of person who had to attack people.

you can't kill a concept? Is that what you meant to say? what do you think a bomb does? i just don't understand that. to me it sounds like it is not very well thought out at all. illogical or whatever.

that's another thing i think. like if you showed me a basketball and said "this is a pumpkin," i just wouldn't understand it. like how is that a pumpkin? it's just beyond me. Now you may think it's a pumpkin just as much as i think it is a basketball. the only explaination i have for this whole "disagreement" phenomenon is the Bible. Which is another one of those things people disagree about. like "the light shines in the darkness and the darkness comprehended it not." that works both ways. like if you "see" something others do not.

Of course terrorists are fucking stupid. All I'm saying is that the answer to the problem is more complex than just killing them.

You can't know who's going to blow themselves up on a train, they don't all have labels on them. The guys who did the bombings in London had all grown up in England and had fucking yorkshire accents.

Agreed a good terrorist is a dead terrorist but that just isn't the solution to the whole problem. Bush goes on about a 'war' but fucking hell even a moron can see that this isn't the case, they can be anywhere and everywhere and it just isn't realistic to think we can solve the problem by force.

It's just like the 'war' on drugs, for every seizure of coke or whatever, there's like 100 times that amount that's got through the net. Supply and demand. Eliminate the demand, there's no supply. Examine why these people feel they need to blow themselves up and attempt to address the issues. Sure you'll probably call me a pussy and stuff but this is the only way we'll beat these fucks.

I'm sure all of you Bush haters have a better way ... so why not run for Office next time? If you are as smart as you think you are ... you should get elected ... right?

As for "sheep" ... yes. If you are allowing yourself to be led like sheep and put the rote line as stated above, with no idea what you are talking about ... then you ARE sheep. Remember the "It's Time For A Change" from Clinton? Ask most supporters, that was the ONLY reason they voted for him ... they couldn't give you one reason OTHER than that. Definition of Sheep.

Ozzy wins that one as well. Anyone who says Ozzy doesnt have a great voice should attemp singing anything off the first two solo records or the last few Sabbath albums he made. He may have weakened in vocals over the last 35 YEARS!!! but who doesnt???? Next thing is that when Ozzy has been questioned about Dio he has never said anything bad about him and said "i wish the best for him". Dio is a jealous prick and needs to shut his fuckin' mouth. Also, Ozzy performed the hell out of his show this year at ozzfest and is one hell of a stage performer (i doubt Dio was there to see this) and he did his leap frog jumps and of course his buckets of water (it's always been ozzy's thing to do). Of course he is singing while this is going on so I don't see whats not about the music. His vocals I was able to hear throughout the show and he was very impressive this year (and last). I talked to Ozzy and Sharon backstage this year and they are both very nice people and i dont see why everyone has to talk so much shit. Ozzy will go down in history as a madman no matter what any of you say, so give it up. And Dio, I hear auditions start next week for Disney's Broadway production of SnowWhite and the 7 Dwarfs

USA desperately needs enemies to justify it's fascist politics and make it look like democracy, and this has been going on for decades (arab terrorists are the new communists).

I saw Ozzy with Sabbath six years ago. The teleprompters went blank mid-song (Into the Void), and he goes "la-la-la-la-la-la laa laa laa"). WTF? He's been doing these songs for thirty years and still can't remember the lyrics? I wonder who really writes his stuff, and has he ever written any songs at all? It's always somewhat puzzling to me when someone like Dio --who, whether you like his music or not, is widely respected for his endurance, professionalism and credibility -- makes clear-as-day comments, sans profanity or narrow-mindedness, and yet there's gotta be this pocket of stubborn people who just don't get it. How can you disagree THAT much with something so obvious? Generally speaking, Ozzy IS a clown on stage and Bush is, among many other things, a clown of a president.

If you've paid even the slightest bit of attention to national news/politics over the past 4-5 years, you should have some perception of the bafoon of a man we have leading our country. I'm well aware that many people in the metal community consider themselves conservative on political issues, but c'mon ... if Bush is your idea of a tough, decisive guy, check and make sure the blinders aren't on too tight. He's smug, arrogant, and profoundly dumb at the same time -- dangerous combination.

Bush is president and Ozzy has been much more successful than Dio because, unfortunately, the two of them are more representative of the general public -- simple-minded, ignorant, not curious and not very interested in the challenge of critical thinking.

By the way, people who routinely say, "if you don't like it here ... move (or get out)" can thank Fox News/Sean Hannity/Rush Limbaugh/etc. for supplying the thoughtless array of easy-to-remember talking points. When you're busy memorizing junk like that, you tend to forget about the freedoms this country was founded upon and which make it a much better place than dictatorships in which you CAN'T speak out without consequences. People who make comments like that generally live -- and rarely, if ever, venture out from -- suburban/rural middle-America where it's hard to understand and appreciate diversity.

By the way, wellhungnecro echoed my thoughts exactly: how in the hell can you look at the current administration, and the GOP-controlled Congress, and call their policies conservative? They've acted like spoiled 16-year-old girls running around shopping all day with their daddy's credit cards. And "Daddy" -- our hero, "W" -- never puts his foot down and takes the card away. I'm just thankful my party of choice doesn't kiss the ass of evangelicals and special interests to win elections.

Long live Dio.

Egghead, without the method of using distortion and half-truths, I don't think conservatives would know how to effectively debate anything.

The guy you adore so much, "W", makes shit up -- so that must be the way you combat those pesky liberals, right? He also has a very condensed inner circle of aides and at campaign rallies last year, attendees were screened to make sure he wouldn't have any complex or embarassing questions to face. Tough guy.

The general public IS stupid and gets its kicks from easily digestable content and public figures (Why do you think Britney Spears sells more albums than Opeth? Why does hip-hop sell better than traditional/prog metal?). There are more critical thinkers out there than me and Jon Stewart, but I think it's a safe bet that we're in the minority.

I don't align myself with org's like NAMBLA or PETA, nor have I heard any politician endorse man-boy love (well, unless you consider Cheney and Bush's relationship); and while I agree with some issues the ACLU gets behind, I don't support them wholeheartedly. Yet I still vote Democrat most of the time. Pretty amazing, huh? Just because I'm not as metro-sexual as the guy sipping a latte in a coffee shop in Portland, OR -- and maybe not AS liberal as he is on certain issues -- doesn't mean we can't support the same political platform as a whole.

And gays? Gays are fine with me as long as they're not making passes at me. Who cares? I thought conservatives wanted to be left alone and didn't want Big Brother interferring with their personal lives?

Kind of ironic that the whole Terri Schiavo fiasco blew up in their faces when they were thinking, "this will make us look even more godly, help us in '06, and divert attention from the war!"

Give me a break. Your Republican/Democrat explanation in a nutshell is a generalization. The way I see it, Dems are out for themselves just as much as anyone. They just keep their voting base thinking that they're out for the little guy. They keep them down by making them think that they're victims of the man. They never encourage the little guy to get on his feet, they excuse him and say he's just a victim. The Dems keep their supporters in that mindset and it holds them back. They don't want them to make anything of themselves because they'll lose them. I see it in the people that I work with that are democrats. They always want more and more, but they never want to do anymore than they have to. They expect everyone to wipe their ass. And they are the biggest tight-asses. This is my experience and I know it's not like that with everyone, but it is a hell of a coincidence. I don't buy that bullshit that the dems are out for the little guy. Plus, Dems are the most racist people I've seen. They care about the votes, not the people.

most highly creative people are liberal. that's pretty much a fact. i don't wanna listen to someone that is boring or ordinary. but those people(ordinary folk) tend to be fairly conservative politicaly which is somewhat mysterious to me.

it's like the old phrase "the devil has all the great guitar players." that seems pretty indisputable to me. you don't hear me talking in favor of conservative musicians. because if they even exist it is outside my knowledge.

you could maybe even say all good musicians are liberals. it would be extremely difficult for me to dispute.

but it was tipper gore who "came down" on music back in the 80's. so i don't think being a liberal gives you some magical rock mojo without exception. and if rock stars ran the country we'd probably just have offered sadaam a doobie and told him to "be cool man."

2. Dio could have been more harsh on Bush - but he stopped when he should have. Everybody has already formed opinions and decided what they want to see and what they want to ignore anyway.

The false left/right paradigm is there to make people argue and allow nothing to get solved.
Kerry and Bush or Pepsi vs Coke.

They are both members of the same secret organisation. They were both funded by the same people.
The military industrial complex have a huge interest in wars the US are engaged in and will be engaged in (Iran and Syria next).

Therefore through puppets like bush and kerry their agendas are made real.
Bush has already started taking guns away from people. Just look at New Orleans. Do you think those guns will be returned, or anyone will be allowed to purchase guns again?

People need to wake up to the lies that are spoonfed to them through mainstream media outlets.

The US border is wide open. What is the government doing apart from released warnings that southern texas is more dangerous than the west bank? Nothing.

This allows them to force federal (national) ID cards on people in years to come, because they have lost control of the illegal immigrants (that business likes because they profit from them).

Don't be one of the sheeple.

You think any president will give a flying fuck about your money?

Not a chance, he has people higher up who want to make more profits.

Eggheadinsurrection, you got owned. In case you can't read the numbers that fuckhaters posted, here is a chart:
http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet?data_tool=latest_numbers&series_id=LNS14000000

DIRECTLY FROM THE GOVERNMENT!
And as for people taking your money for welfare everyone, a point:
Welfare takes less than 1% of your paycheck. It is "all military operations" that take up the second biggest chunk of your paycheck, next to pensions. If you do not believe me, go here to compare the charts (house of rep. site: http://www.house.gov/fattah/features/money.htm)
What else do you want to argue about? I can shit all over you with numbers, something new age republicans fear. Bush's are the worst republicans ever. I used to be conservative before we invaded Iraq, and then I realized the lesser of the two evils now is the democrats. Want to argue that the country isn't broke? Here is something I wrote a paper on for one of my classes:
The national debt.
Now exceeded 8 trillion dollars! Clinton's programs to eliminate the national debt were working, with the first budget surpluses since one year in the 50's or so. Look at the numbers. (http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpenny.htm) Bush I left Clinton with a 4 trillion dollar debt to handle. He managed to slow the debt growth despite inflation and the debt only went up by 1.5 trillion. His programs then began to do their job powerfully. In 2000 budget SURPLUSES came to be, and our congressmen were arguing over what to do with the extra money. Then, as you can see, Bush's programs spiked the debt back up. It will soon be considered doubled. The debt was projected to be eliminated by 2009, under Clinton's plan. Now it will be an extreme burden to the next generation, along with social security. Republicans are infamous for being shitty with the economy. Sure, they may be much better at international relations. They actually have balls. However, what good will it do us if we spread ourselves so thin that we can't even help ourselves? Think about the way capitalism works. Rich tax cuts do not help the economy in any way, because the rich are rich because they know how to save money. If you give the money to the poor and middle class, they will spend it. Spending = growth. Bush's tax cuts will help the rich in the short term, but when their money begins to lose value because no one is spending, they will be pissed. See you in '08 :-)

'Preciate the insight, maxfoiler. Too bad budget deficits and tax breaks for the rich aren't sexy enough issues on the surface to get more people to take notice -- especially the ones who voted for Bush not once, but twice (2000, 2004), and STILL think he's "doing a heck of a job."

Most people in my home state of Alabama consistently vote against their own economic interests because "W" and local Republicans are pro-life, pro-guns, pro-family, and, most importantly, anti-gay. In their minds, as long as the candidate is on their side of the issues -- and their churches tell them to vote for the guy or become ostracized/go to hell/worse -- he can fuck up everything else and people either won't care or, better yet, won't notice.

I think it's ironic that Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, among others, bitched and moaned throughout the Clinton presidency, nit-picked him about everything ... but once they finally got their way in 2000 ... they KEPT bitching and moaning! It's because they know that their listenership/viewership is dependent on them whining about liberals and liberal causes. When you have a record like Bush's, your media supporters have few options other than waiting for "liberal attacks" and seizing on them (or talking about Natalee Holloway or the missing cruise ship couple).

Back to Dio. The man is one of a kind and has a level of showmanship unmatched by his peers ... he's from the old school and deserves respect from all fans of metal, regardless of their political views. Now, if he had said something ludicrous and overly hateful, cynical, and clearly untrue, I'd be the first to call him out on it. But what he said about both Ozzy and Bush, whether it inflames fans of both men, is pretty much right on the money.

I like a lot of Ozzy's back catalog of music. Just about all of it. But shit, he is a clown these days. Needs to hang it up. Can't sing, cancels shows because of it ... c'mon.

The only thing about Bush that I've ever admired -- to this day -- was the first pitch he threw out in the 2001 World Series at Yankee Stadium. Thought it was commendable. But if you look at what he's done since taking office, I just can't for the life of me understand why anybody in their right mind would still be remotely comfortable with this man being in charge.

That's why, in '08, Americans need to head to the polls in droves and elect a REAL man of the people: Ronnie James Dio! And who could forget his running mate, Mr. Joey DeMaio, of Manowar fame. It's a step in the right direction for metal AND for democracy. Please promise your support today.

I'm not talking averages, because Clinton was handed a high number and had to bring it down. Also, Bush's term is not over yet. My point is that Clinton had ideas, and they worked. This can be seen in the trend of increased employment. It is also clear that Bush brought up the rate of unemployment, something that should not occur during wartime. While one may say that you can't blame an administration for everything, you can blame it for a hell of a lot. In recent years, the Executive branch has gained a large amount of power, and it often tells congress what to do. It is a huge power game and the Bush administration and the Clinton administration had different priorities. It is clear that Clinton focused on domestic priorities and Bush has focused on foreign issues. One major reason why I have a problem with the Bush administration is because they have failed in their foreign relations. Now people hate us, are scared of us, or both. We are not Russia. This could have been done in another way. We should have made people realize that we are the strongest power in the world, and in order for them to be strong as well that they needed to side with us all simply for three reasons: trade and economic principles, and some form of assistance or protection. In '08 we need to elect someone who will rebuild the image of this country and make us as strong as we used to be.

"I remember being young and ignorant, thinking that the world was defined in black and white and not shades of gray."

Well, I'm probably one of the older members on here and I can honestly say, most of the world IS defined in black and white. There is very little gray areas as far as I'm concerned. Is Bush the best president ever? Absolutely not!! Was Clinton...please, give me a break. All this political talk is quite amusing. Let me ask this...who passes budgets? The president...NO people. Congress passes budgets. What party was in control of Congress during 6 of the 8 years of Clinton's presidency? THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. So, you can blow Clinton's horn all day about how great he was, but, in fact, President's have very little to do with the final budgets that get passed.

Another thing: The national debt and the deficit ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!!!! The national debt was NOT going to be paid down by 2009, regardless of what Clinton's press secretary was telling eveyone. The national debt will NEVER be paid down, regardless of who is in office. That's just the way it goes. I remember when there were budget surpluses and Congress was arguing about what to do with all the extra money. I said it then, and I'll say it again, right here: HOW ABOUT GIVING IT BACK TO THE TAXPAYER, you know, it's OUR money, after all. Somehow, that idea was lost on almost all members of Congress. I'll tell you one person who had enough balls to give the finger to all the naysayers and give a blatant tax break TO ALL AMERICANS...and that person was George W. Bush.

Sure, Clinton got a bj...SO WHAT!?!?! Believe me, that's NOT all there is to bitch about the Clinton years. Let's start with China, shall we. As I'm sure all of you know, although you might not want to believe, Chinese spies stole intelligence about W-88 nuclear warheads. The Clinton Administration knew about it and covered it up. I believe at one point, China had up to 30 nuclear warheads point directly t the USA. Clinton then said something to the effect of this is the first time since the beginning of the nuclear age that not a single missle is aimed at the U.S. I's just a bald-faced lie, just like most of the things that came out of his mouth. There's just so many lies and it's so frustrating, it's hard to type them al in any kind of coherent context. Sometime, in the late 90's/early 2000's, one of the higher ranking Chinese officials (his name escapes me) was on television saying that China was prepared to strike (with these nuclear warheads) Los Angeles if the USA did anything to defend Taiwan. To top it off, the Chinese sold the technology to North Korea, which is why they are a threat to us to this day. Meanwhile, there's ol William J. Clinto telling us how safe we are. What a joke.

Wake up people. Understanding your enemy will not win a war. DESTROYING your enemy does!!

Why Bush sucks?

1) He IS a religious fundamentalist just like the "religious fundamentalists" he is trying to combat in Iraq
Thanks to Bush, we have a religious nut running America.

2) Unheard of ridiculousness- The only president to give tax cuts in a time of war- how stupid is that- there's the republicans
again trying to get something for nothing.

3) Isn't it funny how conservatives are anything but conservative about spending money? Everytime a conservative is
in office we have huge budget defecits. Bush has our country in the biggest debt it has ever been in.

4) Bush is responsible for keeping our citizens of our country in a constant state of fear. He is the biggest fear mongering
idiot we have ever seen. No one wanted to kill us as much before he was in office. Now the world hates us even more. Others have always hated us but at least we were tollerable but now we are totally in the crosshairs of terrorists thanks to Bush.

5) Bush is an arrogant unintelligent leader. He is an uninspirational speaker.

6) America has always fucked over other countries but in order to do it you have to be a smooth dude like Bill Clinton.
Clinton was probably the best president we have ever had. People like to bring up the Monica thing because they have
a hard time of thinking of anything he did bad. If that's the worst thing then I'll take that over Bush's failures anyday.
To be honest, i don't care that he got a blowjob by Monica.
who cares. Most every president has mistresses, it's just a fact and it to be honest has nothing to do with how he runs
a country. Bush is a cokehead and has never ran a successful business in his life, from the texas rangers to the USA.
Yeah that's right Bush is a cokehead alcohlic- there I said it.

7) He is responsible for bankrupting our country not only with the budget deficit but other factors as well. He says things like
"home ownership is at an all time high" what he doesn't say is home affordability is at an all time LOW and the ratio between
incomes and housing is worse than it has ever been. Bush contributes to this.

8) The only jobs that have been created are those in the "housing industry" or basically those who encourage the huge
pyramid scheme of soaring housing prices, which encourages people to take on bigger debts. The other jobs are outsourced anyway. When you take out a loan for a mortgage where do you think that money is coming from? It is chinese and arab money.
So if you want to make Chinese and Arabs even more rich, then go for it, but I don't think it's a good idea.

9) What I find the funniest is the "good ol red states" in the midwest that he appeals to most, the little guy, the common
family person and middle and poor class is the very person that he hurts the most with his policies.
Ever wonder why on the coasts of the US or in any other educated areas are blue states? That's because educated people
know Bush is full of shit.

10) By Bush continuing to take the path he's on, he IS endangering the lives of Americans. The stupider America is the more other people
want to kill us.

11) Nationbuilding- no towel head or any other country wants or needs us to tell them how to run their country or live their life

12) The patriot act is a violation of our privacy. It's funny how republicans traditionally were seen as not for "big government"
But in the last few years, Republicans are increasingly more "Big government" than democrats. The patriot act is a perfect
example of this. There is nothing patriotic about the patriot act and masking the name as such is all just marketing bullshit and
plays against our fears- there we are with fearmongering republicans again.

If you believe in :
1) encouraging our countries debt
2) encouraging the state of fear our country is in
3) contributing to the increased lack of seperation between church and state
4) valuing money more than human life
5) encouraging all other countries to hate us more
6) a nation of slaves by further shrinking the middle class
7) tax cuts that only help the rich
8) outsourcing, tax evasion and big corporations ruling the world
9) fear
10) getting something for nothing
11) being the world police
12) putting the problems of the world above the plenty of problems we have here at home in our own country
13) big brother and having big government monitor everything you do
14) disregarding the constitution and bill or rights

...then by all means vote republican

but if you believe in :

1) family and the middle and poor class
2) being fiscally responsible
3) understanding that we have to have good foreign policy
4) value life more than money
5) not running the country in a way that puts us in harm
6) taking care of America and it's problems before we go fucking around with people in other parts of the world
7) valuing the freedoms that our country was founded upon such as outlined in the bill of rights and the constitution

...then vote democrat.

He's the most frightening and lamest president we have ever had.

At least Bush is going after the terrorists unlike the turn coat fucking traitorous democrats like John Murtha and Howard Dean, who can only complain about what we are doing wrong. I say wiretap all day long and get rid the enemy that is within our country.

Something that gets lost in the shuffle, I think, is Bush's use of deception in repeating the phrase, "We must fight them 'over there' so we don't have to fight them over here." What the hell does that mean? He's not a very bright man, but I think he's got deception and distortion down pat.

Fighting "them" "over there" does NOT mean, as a result, we won't have to fight them over here. Have any of you guys given any thought to the possibility that "staying the course," as Bush often repeats, also means staying as long as the Iraqis need us?
The thing about Murtha and Dean, sytrop, is that they don't buy into the bullshit. They don't drink the Kool-Aid. They don't like the "strategy" (what is the strategy?). And they've got the balls to stand against the grain, whether you or I agree with them. Murtha's comments were heartfelt and you could tell, if you watched the press conference, that he didn't have some political agenda. This war is going in the wrong direction -- and has been ever since we diverted attention from Afghanistan and the hunt for bin Laden. When people speak up about that, they're not doing the U.S. or its military personnel a disservice. They're BEING patriotic.

I really feel pity for a lot of you guys that, due to your family and community surroundings, have never been encouraged to think outside the box. It's also ironic that metalheads -- who, by nature, usually have a distrust for establishment and authority figures ... or at least did at the onset of their interest in metal -- sometimes have political leanings that go hand-in-hand with their insecurities, homophobia, etc.

Bush is not a cowboy. He's not a common man like you. He's not a tough guy willing to take on a challenge. He works on that persona and you, unfortunately, buy into it. If any of you watched the presidential debates in '04, tell me which of the two men -- Bush or Kerry -- appeared more at ease, cool under pressure, and collected. Who was more in command of the issues? Who looked more like a president up there, never stalling, never looking around, scratching his head.

And, of course, we RE-elected the dumbass. What does that go to show you? We elected someone who we feel best represents us and our "values."

Just some things to consider while you listen to Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, your dad, etc. and nod your head in blind obedience.

Ann Coulter wouldn't agree. neither do i.

"and nod your head in blind obedience."

if you knew me you'd know better than that.

Egghead, if you're going to reference something I wrote, how 'bout a little more than "uhm ok" in response. I don't quite get that.

Also, what is it Ann Cunter and you don't agree with? The war going in the wrong direction, people speaking up about it being unpatriotic, or both? Thomas Jefferson said, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." We're not supposed to trust our president in every decision he makes, as Britney Spears once said and would have you believe. That's foolish, dangerous, and UNpatriotic.

I challenge you to give this some thought. I'm not crazy, as your boys at FoxNews would have you believe. I love our country. Whether the man in the Oval Office is someone I agree with or disagree with on certain issues, I'd at least like to for him to be straight with the American people. Bush ain't doing that.

"We're not supposed to trust our president in every decision he makes, as Britney Spears once said"

-you're talking about that scene in fahrenheit 911 aren't you.

i(and ann coulter) would, i guess, concede the possibility that you can oppose the war and still be patriotic. i don't think michael moore is patriotic though. or that whole kinda mentality.

i think some people hate this country and think it is evil and unfair and should be done away with. destroyed. i'm not talking about al qaeda either. i'm talking about liberals.

and i also think pat robertson is an idiot and i think "Christmas" is a stupid catholic holiday. so i guess some people would call me liberal too. nah.
