GODSMACK Frontman Performs National Anthem 'Without A Problem' - Jan. 3, 2006
The Boston Globe is reporting that folks who heard GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna rehearsing before Sunday's (Jan. 1) New England Patriots' home game against the Miami Dolphins in Foxborough, Massachusetts "wondered if he was up to singing the national anthem. (He sounded bad.) But being the pro that he is, Erna performed 'Star-Spangled Banner' without a problem."

Erna previously sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Windham, N.H., Baseball-Softball League's Fest-a-Ball event last May.

GODSMACK have finished recording the follow-up to 2003's "Faceless" and are preparing to begin mixing the effort for a tentative late spring/early summer via Universal.

Godsmack is an American band from this century that kicks ass. I am very glad that he had the opportunity to sing our national anthem. From what I understand Erna is an avid historian and a patriot.

Faceless was a hit-and-miss album, with a couple tracks being the best they've ever done, and the rest of it being the worst. I really hope this new one rips from start to finish like the first two. "Awake" is my personal favorite because it's hypnotic and heavy at the same time. Usually Opeth is the only other band that can pull that off.
