RUSH: 'Exit...Stage Left' DVD Delayed - Jan. 3, 2006
According to a posting on the RUSH fan site Power Windows, Zoe/Rounder has pushed back the projected U.S. release date of the the DVD version of RUSH's classic "Exit...Stage Left" concert film to March 7 from the previously announced February 7.

"Everything's been remixed to 5.1, and that was the intention — to keep it all intact, except for the remix," guitarist Alex Lifeson recently told Billboard.com. "So it's available in surround."

Lifeson told Billboard.com he enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane while refurbishing the material. "It was interesting to see the development in the arrangements, and how our sound changed over the course of a decade," he said. "I definitely found it fascinating, looking at that. And how the stage show changed over the years — of course, [in] 10 years a lot of stuff changes. But it was a little fascinating to watch that, actually."

"Exit...Stage Left" was filmed at The Forum in Montreal, Quebec on March 27, 1981 and was issued in 1981 on VHS/Laserdisk (out of print). The 60-minute video featured the following track listing:

01. Limelight
02. Tom Sawyer
03. The Trees
04. Instrumental
05. Xanadu
06. Red Barchetta
07. Free Will
08. Closer To The Heart
09. YYZ (with voice over)
10. By-Tor
11. Snow Dog/In The End/In The Mood/2112 Finale

I like how R30 is so fucking cheap... the Deluxe one is only $30, and you get 2 DVDs and 2 CDs and some other shit. Its nice to see a big band that isn't fucking its fans over.

Alex Lifeson is one of the greatest guitarists ever.

They don't want to 'rush' the release of this DVD!

Do you see what I did there? You see because the band name is 'Rush' and I said... Oh you did see that...

Shoot. That's a slight bummer but then again it spaces out the DVD releases for them what might already be a heavy release week. So, we wait a month. Chances are they'll release Grace Under Pressure in July and Show of Hands in November and this time next year we'll be listening to their new CD and then around March they'll start announcing tour dates for their summer tour. It's nice to have Rush stuff evenly divided throughout the year. Keeps it all fresh and doesn't smash you over the head. And we have to remember that Rush isn't in that much of a rush (Thanks, braindead) to rush perfection.

Very much looking forward to a track listing soon. The idea was to expand these and toss in some extras which in the past have proven to be too cool for words. The track listing above is from the original video release. They haven't released any information about the DVD release so we don't know what exactly will be on there. Hopefully it's not just a remaster but even if it is, it's a great capturing of the highlights of that tour.

RUSH RULES!

We've been waiting this long, what's a few more months. Just another fix to add to the already rabid addiction I have for this band. Long live RUSH!!!!!!!

I actually watched the VHS (yes Video Home System) version of this a little while ago. I never watch VHS movies, but this is Rush we are talking about. Slacker, I hear they are releasing all their concert videos to DVD progressively, so All the World's a Stage should be out some time this year.

is fucking amazing, and so is Rush. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an asshole, fucking period. This should be another great release from the canadian trio.

And Neil Peart isn't old you fuckin dip shit, 'bill' (wow, creative!) And with that being said, at his age, he can out drum most of the current metal drummers today. You may say, "Hey I'm ultra cool and listen to black metal day and night, they drum faster so that means their better!"

To which i reply, "No, you simple minded, genetic mishap....I said OUT DRUM, as in TALENT! Take your tr00 kvlt-ness and blow it out your gauntlet wearing, corpse paint asses (or whatever other genre you metal elitists love to promote)."

"I LOVE RUSH BUT WHATS WITH ALL THE DVDS?

I know man. This is like the third live concert DVD in the last thirty years. Obviously they are cashing in while they have a big hit on the charts. Bands like Rush have no staying power or integrity.
