MISFITS To Record 'Hardest, Most Aggressive' Album Since 'Earth A.D.'

According to a posting on MISFITS' official web site, there is talk of some live MISFITS material from some of the highly acclaimed shows Jerry Only (vocals, bass), Dez Cadena (drums; ex-BLACK FLAG) and Robo (drums) delivered in 2005 possibly hitting the streets later this year. In addition, the band plan to return to the studio in 2006 to deliver "the hardest, most aggressive MISFITS material to see the pressing plant since 'Earth A.D.'!"
MISFITS will be embarking on a Mexican/South American tour beginning in late January.

How anyone can take them seriously is beyond me. Just short of a Misfit reunion-the half hour Misfit set Danzig does with Doyle is FUCKING amazing. Let's pray for a reunion-Danzig, Jerry, Doyle and Robo!!! Thats where it's at.

i havent actually listened to fiend club lounge yet, i dont know. i was kinda disappointed with project 1950 that i wasnt so sure about buying fiend lounge club. but you reckon its ok?

I wouldn't pay full retail price for Fiend Lounge cuz it's a really short CD (buy it used it you can, I did) but it's pretty damn funny either way

the misfits have become nothing but a glorified cover band. im shocked and appalled that they are even able to get gigs, let alone recording contracts. and fuck releasing anything live from the past tour. what they really need to do is dig through them vaults and find lost gems like "in the doorway"
jerry only cant write music to save his clip-on devillock. just go back to working in daddys factory and leave the music to real musicians and not two-bit hacks such as yourself.
and if anyone thinks jerry only is sooooo great, then listen to the garbage on "kryst the conqeror" jerry, do us a favor and "die die my darling"

The only reason I gave these dudes a listen is because my b.f. LEATHERFACELESS admires them. He probably feels the same way, about this article, as UnholyPassion (above) does. I took the c.d.'s back for a refund. Yuck! I do, however, dig on DANZIG. Oh, yeah, baby! MmmMmmMmmMmmMmm...... :)......

I seen them back in Oct. I was kind of disappointed. I love the Misfits, but it was lacking. The energy is there, but it didn't feel right. I'm trying to give them a chance, but it's not working anymore.

I know Doyles x guitar tech and it's so funny Jerry Only had to write the frets and chords in magic marker on Doyle's guitar so Doyle knew which ones to play. HAH! what a retard.
I would like to see a real Misfits reunion like anyone else, but I can never take Danzig serious again after his fucking knock out and his new direct to video porn career.

that Jerry Only and Doyle were both Kyrst the Conquer and Doyle used to wear a loin cloth and have long flowing hair and a Conan the Barbarian sword and headband. they even had a promo poster that is funny as fuck, so I guess Danzig has a "short" (pun intended) memory of that.
I agree that a full out renuinion with Robo would own. Graves sucks so much ass. That Daily show where they were making fun of Graves for being the George Bush loving "punk" was hysterical.

How long ago was this guy Doyle's guitar tech? I know that after Bobby Steele left the original Misfits a lot of the guitar on recordings ended up being played by Danzig because he was trying to teach Doyle to play and it just wasn't working out. If this is something that happened more recently then it sounds pretty weird that still after all these years he wouldn't know anything.

I would be willing to be if anyone ever got the chance to look at Doyle's guitar it's still probably there because it doesn't look like he changed guitars. I think Doyle has learned to play preety well now, but that is because Jerry taught him, not Glenn Danzig. Jerry Only built those guitars they use. both Doyles and Jerrys and still does build them..

Fuck Jerry Only. Fuck him. He should know when to quit, know when he's bald, know when to let the Misfits die with SOME dignity. Someone went to one of their shows and came back the next day telling me they suck. My response "THAT'S NOT THE MISFITS"
saying this will be the best album over ANY of the old shit should be considered a federal offense. Jerry can't sing worth shit and can't fucking write any songs. Fuck, Danzig played 70% of the instruments in Misfits recordings.

Doyle is in a band with his wife called Gorgeous Frankenstein. I think there's a bigger chance of Doyle playing with Glenn again (especially after this past tour) than of Doyle playing with the Misfits again, and that's a shame because Doyle was the only thing holding the Misfits together after both Glenn and Michale left.

I don't know if Doyle will play with Glenn again because Danzig said he won't be touring again, at least for the time being. I think Danzig is planning on producing the Gorgeous Frankenstein album though. Doyle's wife is hot.

Okay, I've seen the Misfits twice now with Only fronting, and I can tell you that each time I saw them, he was better on vocals than I've ever heard Graves be onstage, and for that matter was better than the recent boots I heard from the Danzig/Doyle set in Philly. As someone said earlier, it's NOT two drummers, Dez plays guitar. As far as the "not wanting to play new music" thing...why would you take Chud's word for anything? When I saw them play he said the split (He wouldn't come right out and say he got fired) was because of him and Graves smoking pot on the tour bus when Jerry had his then high school aged son on tour with them and asked the guys not to do that around him. Doyle...I don't know. I've heard too many things and honestly don't believe one over another. The Danzig/Doyle sets actually pissed me off because for years now Glenn has had this attitude problem about the Misfits. He didn't want to talk about them in interviews (and I'm referring to questions about the "original" Misfits, not since Jerry & Doyle brought them back) and would get pissy when someone brought them up. Then he gets knocked the fuck out in Arizona and suddenly he's calling up Doyle wanting to do Misfits sets. You shouldn't be proud of something you did only when it benefits you. You're either proud of it or you aren't. And for everyone who rips on Jerry for getting the Misfits name: 1. Rip on Doyle, because his name was on the lawsuit too. 2. Rip on Danzig, for settling out of court and handing the name over. But Danzig came out of the deal pretty well: He seems to be getting the bulk of the money made from Misfits merch, etc. Anything with the old material, he gets all the money from. The figure I heard for the Metallica album with the covers was $0.30 an album, and it sold a few million copies. As far as Danzig playing the instruments on most of the albums, that's just bullshit. He went in and overdubbed guitar, bass, and drum parts for Lecacy of Brutality and I think both Collection albums so he wouldn't have to pay royalties to the guys who played on the original recordings. That's about it. And they suck compared to originals. Listen to LOB, then listen to Static Age and tell me which sounds better. If you answer LOB, you're either tone deaf, a fucking moron, or you need to let go of Danzig's nuts. He's a short guy, he doesn't need to try to drag you around. In closing: I'll take Project 1950 (or a live Misfits show, etc.) over anything from Samhain or Danzig. Damn, there's some horrid shit.

"Famous Monsters" is the best thing The Misfits ever released. There were a few good songs on other releases (Angelfuck, Astro Zombies, Mommy, etc.) but FM is hands-down the most consistant.

I'm a huge misfits fan but I nly like the stuff danzig is on. I really hope Jerry, Doyle, Glenn, and Robo get back together. I read an interveiw with Jerry and he said that they're still friends.

The Kryst The Conqueror EP was released to very little fanfare in 1990, a rather mysterious album that seemingly no one knew much about. In fact this was the metal band formed in 1987 by Jerry Only and Doyle, brothers and former members of the infamous punk band Misfits. They hired noted Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist Jeff Scott Soto to sing for them (as he was still under contract with Yngwie, he was billed as Kryst The Conqueror himself) and an entire album, Deliver Us From Evil was recorded, but for some reason the album was not released as such, instead five songs from that recording were released as the self-titled EP. Though they never played live and in essence were a band in name only, Kryst The Conqueror survived until the mid-nineties, when the two brothers went back to the reformed Misfits. The songs on the EP are interesting and not bad at all -- not really punky (though pretty raw in places) and certainly nothing like the Malmsteen material that Soto was a part of at the time.
I'm curious to hear them now.

with the difference that I like Danzig and Samhain.
But hell yeah the new Misfits lineup kills and Jerry can sing just great. If you don't believe me buy the "1950" album and watch the live songs on the DVD: Great stuff.
Dez Cadena is a kickass guitarist and also the BLACK FLAG guitarist.
The Misfits rule, with or without Danzig, with or without Graves.
And gossip sucks.

it's cool to read posts that shed real light on Misfits history rather than crap like Jerry Only sucks and Fuck him and all the merchandise (which is bullshit because everyone knows that Danzig is 1/2 owner of it )and just because Jerry is fronting the Misfits it's easy to blame just him. Danzig is a sleaze and a liar and makes just as mucch money as jerry.
and to the genius who put Micahle Graves in the same sentance with Danzig you should be shot in the head. "After Glenn and Michale left"? are you fucking crazy? Graves is SHIT. The funniest thing I read this year was in Alt. Press and the singer from Alkaline Trio was really bad mouthing Graves saying he is shit. I fucking agree. I hate that motherfucker.

what a joke.. First of all Doyle is not in a band with his wife. His wife is a washed up Dee Snider looking former WCW vallet to Randy Savage, she's not even a real wrestler. They (doyle and her) got 4 kids and she looks like a short pudgey drag queen. .She doesn't play any instruments except of course Doyles meat flute. From what I hear he's only doing this band to shut her the fuck up because she's an X diva that no one gives a shit about anymore and this is an easy way for her to get back in the public eye. I know this because I know Doyle's x guitar tech and he hates her for breaking up the Misfits. Jerry wouldn't let her in the band so Doyle formed Gorgeous/ Frankenstein to spite Jerry. (pretty gay huh?) Jerry even said it in an interview that he wasn't gonna let some bitch tell him what to do with the Misfits. Obviously, Doyle is pussy whipped and took her side over Jerry. Ask Jerry at a show next time you see him. I'm sure he'll tell the whole damm story! He's very funny like that, he doesn't hold back.
I also forgot that Dez Cadena was the singer in Black Flag before Rollins. I must go hear that old stuff now..I'ts made me curious..
