OZZY OSBOURNE Calls Off Guitarist Search, Continues Working With ZAKK

A representative for Ozzy Osbourne has issued the following statement regarding Ozzy's previously announced guitarist search:
"Ozzy would like to thank everyone who took the time to send in submissions to be his new guitar player. At the time we announced the search, Zakk Wylde's itinerary with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY was quite overwhelming. Fortunately, Zakk has now been able to go back and rearrange his schedule to make sure that he would be available to write, record and tour with Ozzy in 2006 and beyond. Therefore, the search for a new axe man has been called off. We sincerely apologize to all of the talented musicians (and there were lots of them) who were excited by this incredible opportunity and we wish you the best of luck with all of your future musical endeavors."

What Ozzy needs is a new wife, a voice transplant and a producer who doesn't suck the life out of every one of his songs by layering 50 guitar and vocal overdubs. In short: RETIRE!
The only guitar player you ever needed Ozzy, he's been forced to putting out CDs with Glenn Hughes. Sell one of your mansions and buy yourself a clue.

I would suggest listening very carefully to the next OZZY cd to make sure that your riffs are not on it. This could very well have been a ploy to get some riffs/songs ideas for Ozzy and Zakk. This is not a joke.

Yes, I know Jakk's harmonics are a bit repetitive but he's the ax-man for OZZ. Just listen to "No Rest for the Wicked". That's an good album full of kickass riffs. That's Ozzy heaviest album in my opinion...

On another note, the search ended the minute it went out. This was the same stunt they pulled 10 years ago to get Zakk to commit. Its no secret and well publicized and Zakk has been in and out for years but the first split is not really known of. When Zakk found out how publishing worked he realized his $50k a year salary that Sharon was paying him was bull shit. So, he told those pricks to split the pie or he was out.
Good move Zakk. Now make your next good move and go to rehab.

Actually, I like The Ultimate Sin. I think that was the last good Ozzy album Ozzy ever did, and it owns anything Zakk Wylde has ever attempted.. Ozzy started to suck, when he hired that southern wanna be Zakk Wylde.

recorded with Joe Holmes when he had him. It makes me sad that he used Joe as a puppet to play for him for so many years, but every time a record needs to be done...Zack steps back in. I know a lot of people may flame me for this, but you have really only hear Joe play other peoples material. Joe could have/would bring a LOT to the table.

I also love Jake E Lee's style and sound. RR is my favorite palyer ever though. Zakk is OK, but always sounds the same.
ALSO - I have "The Essential Ozzy Ozbourne" compilation, a 2-CD disc and in the booklet it shows all of Ozzy's albums - but The Ultimate Sin is not on it. Neither are any songs from that record on the compilation. Why? It is like it never existed. Did Sharon leave it off because someone else gets a nickel for that material?

Jake E. Lee was the friggin best guitar player to come out of LA in the 80s and this was a guy that flat out refused to use a wammy bar, not to mention the weirdest guitar setup ever, reverse slant pickup Charvelized super strat with Gibson frets etc...

Dude go track down a copy of "The Ultimate Ozzy" Ultimate Sin concert video or the "Bark at the Moon" concert video.
If any of you guys missed this guys playing in the 80s, holy shit, he was friggin exciting
and insane.
He made Randy Rhoads look like a todler and makes Zakk Wylde look like a dumb clumsy stumbling
bafoon. He made his contemporaries like George Lynch look static, machine-like.
He is straight up the Lamborghini Diablo of guitar players.
The whole Ozzy gig- he made it look
like it was too easy for him.

You owe it to yourself to check out the "Ultimate Ozzy" video- it's even better. Sure Ozzy's
stage costumes and hair are at his worst but the guitar playing is friggin unbelievable.

First, Zakk Wylde is an awesome player and blows Randy Rhodes away - period! I have heard Zakk play on and off the stage - he can play anything. So what if there are a lot of pinch harmonics in his music - that is his style! Obviously you have been listening to it if you are bitching about it. Jake E Lee is one hell of a player too but he is not in Ozzy because he didnt want to be. He still rocks and always will!!!!! Zakk is a down to earth guy and I dont know where you guys get off thinking he needs to go to rehab - that whole BLS beer drinking deal is a ploy! Zakk, keep rocking - you are the man!!

I'm more than happy for Zakk coming back.
I've never quite understood why Randy Rhoads is considered as such a legend. I think songs like Crazy Train, No Bone Movies, Steal Away (the Night), You Can't kill R&R etc. are mostly shit, and he wasn't THAT good on technical level. Of course, he has his moments, and he is GOOD, but he is still overrated.
I actually like Jake E. Lee better that RR.
Zakk is Zakk, I've been his fan since I saw Pride & Glory live -94, which was focking phenomenal. If somebody hears southern influences on BLS though, I would recommend hearing test. Zakk is up there with his influences, he gets the job done, he is loyal to the man he calls his boss and he truly is one of the very few guitar heroes out there. Not a perfect human being maybe, but still not fakin' it.
Afterall, I think Zakk is the man for the job, especially as this new Ozzy album might very well be his last studio effort considering his condition nowadays. Even though BLS gets boring every once in a while, Zakk has always done good work with Ozzy when he has been allowed to participate in song writing process. I hope this new album will be Ozzy's Sgt. Pepper, and then he will retire as a happy man.
Finally, I have to say, that I've been reading this board for quite a while and I am very disappointed in the level of writings here. Most of the comments are made by retards, who therefore give this whole metalhead-thing a bad name.

Jake is a real musician. Too bad he could never keep a settled line up for an enduring band.
The other guy like thtat is John Sykes, who also worked with Ray Gillen for a while. The first Blue Murder album is brilliant, a shamefully overlooked classic. But it didn't sell, so Sykes went commercial. Underachiever, but I blame the record buying public.

He's an excellent guitarist, as good as Zakk, but he's far too bluesy to work with Ozzy as well as Zakk does. I know he did a great job on "Bark" and "Sin", but take a listen to what he did with Badlands in the early 90's. You'll see what I mean.
And by the way, Ozzy just has NO voice anymore.

Like I said before , for those who don't like the Ultimate Sin, you don't like it because it has that shitty mid 80s production.
But as far as guitar playing goes, its probably the most technical guitar album Ozzy released, that and Bark at the Moon
Ten Of Swords- You said it well brother-
Jake is straight up the most wicked guitar player ever to grace an 80's "pop" metal album.
Like you listen to Warren DeMartini or George Lynch their stuff is good but it doesn't blow your mind or make you go: " how the fuck did he do that???"
That's the biggest thing with Jake , his riffs were Squirelly, his guitar setup was totally original and bizarre which means his tone was totally signature and his technique was
unmatched by his peers. Not to mention the fact that he's super reclusive and a trippy dude makes him I would say in heavy metal history, the most enigma of a guitarist there has ever been. Even dudes who toured with him like Randy Castillo and Phil Soussan in the Ozzy days say he was a total mystery.
Go Educate yourself disbelievers. GO grab a copy of "The Ulitimate Ozzy" DVD or VHS and get back to me.
