H.I.M. Frontman: 'We Stand For Everything That SLIPKNOT Is Not'

ContactMusic.com is reporting that H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo has slammed his band's detractors as macho chauvinists living in the past.
The Finnish rocker believes the reason why so many rock fans dislike H.I.M. is simply because they are afraid to embrace their feminine side.
He says, "I can accept that not everyone is going to like us, not everyone likes red wine but that doesn't make it a bad drink. Maybe it's that we are not KORN and LIMP BIZKIT who sing songs about nothing but still try to be angry.
"We stand for everything that SLIPKNOT is not. Calling your band H.I.M. is about as close to gay as you can get in naming your band, for example.
"But we are happy to be different from the status quo, if more people out there can't accept that rock music is about more than (MANOWAR singer) Joey DeMaio then fuck 'em. I don't care."

I'm heavily into heavy music and I really dont see what's so special about slipknot(first LP inc.) I think they are like a training wheels sound for much better music out there to be discovered for young metal fans.

Bands/trends like this are what's going horribly awry in modern rock today. Taking the anger out of rock and sticking the gayness in really snips the most important thing out of the whole concept: THE BALLS!

Joey DeMaio is the BASSIST not the singer. Eric Adams is the singer for Manowar. Furthermore, Manowar are INFINITELY better than any of the groups mentioned above be it W.T.F (h.i.m.) Shitnot or KoRnBizkit.
1)Eric Adams can SING. No Chips Ahoy here, he actually effin' SINGS, and doesn't mope and mumble like the W.T.F. guy.
2)I would like to see any bassist or guitarist from those other groups ATTEMPT to trade licks with Karl Logan (Manowar guitar) or Joey DeMaio. YEAH RIGHT.
W.T.F. is the most maudlin, boring sadsack "goth lite" music I have ever heard. *snore* They may possibly suck worse than the nu-metal rapmetal shit dude's putting down. (Well, no worse, but as bad anyway...)

It's hard to say that one is more feminine than Manowar ;)
Even when I was 4 I'd look at their covers and go, "Mommy...this band is gay..." I do the same now when I see that heartagram logo of HIMs. They wouldn't be anything in America if it weren't for their sex slave Bam Margera lampooning around with a their logo tatooed above his penis. Now I've got to say something about Bam (and restate that HIM is gay...not in the homosexual way, nothings wrong with that...they're just gay...you get it).

Ok, here's my hierarchy of those bands.
Slipknot - metal (I don't care if you think they suck)
Korn - right below metal
HIM - tied with emo...
Limp Bizkit - so far below anything else that their name should never be mentioned again. It's and embarassment to everything and everyone. Anyone who has ever listened to an entire Limp Bizkit song automatically should never touch a cd (unless it's HIM or Britney Spears) again. Limp Bizkit is an embarassment to the world...

If music mirrors emotion then who the fuck are you to tell people that its all about hollow anger. Shit man there is alot of types of metal and alot of it isn't just angry or cookie monster vocals. In fact even most of the heaviest shit has an instrumental or two. I'll give the guy some credit because he can actually sing but this band is straight up pretty boy gayness nightmare come true. Funny he mentions korn whop has done songs about alot of other shit then just being angry. In fact I am guessing thats why they changed there style up. As for slipknot it seems most people hate them here but I thought they had some cool songs. I don't think trying to rip on Fred Durst by saying he writes "angry about nothing" music is a very accurate description. He ahs written some of the goofiest shit and I think HIM is jealous. They should flip there name backwards mih and then swap an e for the i and call it meh.

I can respect that SomeKind of Monster will buy any sellout "PRODUCT" from MetallicA, I just always took their word when they said fuck posers and fuck selling out way back in 1982 untill 1991, its kind disappointing to see them as the biggest sellout in the history of heavy metal. And the genre is less than 50 years old.
Sure Metallica has the best management team ( Q-Prime) in the world, they better be a household name.
Trust me dude, if Metallica came out with LOAD in 1982/1983 they would of been called posers like Crue and Ratt.
I understand MetallicA will always have the sellout era fanbase, but trust me dude. Listen to St. Anger again. It is not dissimilar to Slipknot or System of a Down. It is embarrasing to say that the former power / thrash metal band played false NUMETAL on ST. Anger. Alot of people claim NuMetal is watered down Pantera and Soulfly, but ST. Anger is watered down even more, to the point of being "play it safe" nuMetal.
Metallica was the biggest metal band in the world from 1982-1991, because they played Metal for Metallers, and nothing else. Who did not worship MetallicA since 1982, like I have. They were the perfect mix between Motorhead and Diamod Head.
Slipknot will always be around, its not like they will ever pull - A -Metallica, ie sellout all the way ...!!!
Oh nu-Metal did fade away, somewhat. NuMetal has been reinvented ( it went back to proper tuning) by Trivium. Maybe the next MetallicA album will be in that style.
Oh your screen name is from a Metallica nuMetal era film somekind of Monster, I just thought since you like that nuMetal movie about a nuMetal album, I just thought you would have somekind of empathy for nuMetal originators like Soulfly and Slipknot ...!!!

I always see sellout era Metallica screen names from the LOAD and Reload and ST. Anger sellout eras. Trust me they stand out.

I fucking hate HIM, mostly because of their teenage fanbase and Bam Margera. And they make shitty music. But, after reading some interviews with the singer, I've gotten some respect for him. He seems like funny guy who doesnt take their image too seriously.

HIM used to be ok until they sold their souls to Bam Margera. Their last two albums sucked, and that is a fact. Any older fan (not a teenie bopper)of the band can tell you the same thing.
American metal has gone down the tubes (with a few exceptions). It's all about Europe!

Fuck this guy! If you have an opinion that's great, but don't be singling out other bands and bashing them because you can't hold a fucking candle to there level of success. With the exception of Limp Bizkit who needs to fade out of the muisc scene.

Maybe before he starts bashing on other bands he should look at his own.... He saying slipknot a band that has the same popularity as them sucks which may be true(i personally like slipknots older stuff) i think there justt trying to start shit to make those malls kids cry and cut themselves... I also think HIM should keep there mouths shut until they gain the respect of older and better bands... they have a long way to go before they have any right to call other bands gay

if HIM is not metal blabbermouth is more of a music news page then a strickly metal page.. just cuz its run by roadrunner records its still music news so get the fuck over that.
Red wine does suck and at first I thought HIM sucked too but then I really gave them a listen and they are actually good... Ville does have some talent. Its like music to sleep to might be cuz its so lovey dovy to where you fall asleep or maybe its soothing... try something different dont limit yourself when it comes to music.

They mostly only impress 14 year old girls here in the US. That tells you about H.I.M.s music. Same catagory as Fall Out Bot & My Chemical Romance and we don't have to read what those a-holes have to say. Why do we even have to scan through something that this clown has to say?

I hate H.I.M. with a fiery passion. They are the most rediculous band I have ever heard. They don't write music. They write crap. Limp Bizkit I've never really cared for them. I listened to them when i was in like 6th grade. Anyway and KoRn. I will always have to love KoRn since they were the band that turned me on to metal when I was like 9. Anyway. Slipknot? Is he dumb? Slipknot is one of the most awesome bands out there. They do stuff with their music H.I.M. only dreams they can do. And i don't know why he's slamming Slipknot. They are nothing like them. I don't know why they are so popular. We all know that the best band from Finland is ready to say it with me kids, "Children Of Bodom"

H.I.M Needs to shut their fuckin mouthes before slipknot kicks their asses. Slipknot is way more diferent and unique which equals them to be more popular. HIM doesnt have any creative or artistic ideas! They hafta have someone wear their logo and is famous to get attention! 1.Metallica is the father of all metal right? they brought real metal back to earth.
2.Well metallica actually is with limp bizkit slipknot and all they also toured with linkin park
