SEPULTURA: New Song Available For Download - Jan. 12, 2006
A demo version of a new SEPULTURA track, entitled "Convicted In Life", has been made available for download at SepulArmy.net. The song comes off SEPULTURA's 11th full-length album, "Dante XXI", due in North America on March 14 via SPV USA. The CD was recorded at Trama Studios in São Paulo, Brazil, where the group had previously laid down the "Revolusongs" EP, which contained cover versions of songs from such acts as MASSIVE ATTACK to HELLHAMMER to JANE'S ADDICTION (and was included in the limited-edition digipack version of 2003's "Roorback"). A demo version of the first single, "Convicted in Life", will be featured in the March 2006 issue of Revolver magazine (on stands January 10) as part of their "Revolver Bootleg Series."

Working under the watchful eye of producer Andre Moraes (with whom they've previously worked on various Brazilian film soundtracks), SEPULTURA's follow-up to "Roorback" is based on the epic poetic masterpiece "The Divine Comedy" written by Italian author Dante Alighieri in the early 14th Century. The three main components of "The Divine Comedy" are Dante's descriptions of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.

"Dante XXI" track listing:

01. Dark Wood of Error
02. Convicted In Life
03. City of Dis
04. False
05. Fighting On
06. Ostia
07. Buried Words
08. Nuclear Seven
09. Repeating the Horror
10. Crown and Miter
11. Still Flame

In addition to the 11 tracks that are set to appear on "Dante XXI", SEPULTURA recorded two cover songs — JUDAS PRIEST's "Screaming for Vengeance" and SICK OF IT ALL's "Scratching the Surface" — which will be released as single b-sides in the future.

Then again, the last brilliant album from these guys was Arise in 1991

I think this is pretty rockin', I'm liking the vocals, the main riff is catchy, what is there to complain about? I mean, I'd also love it more if Max were back, but this is a solid jam!

I give it 8/10
Decent solo, Good vocals (although I agree max is a "heavier" singer, Drums are pretty kick ass. Who cares about labels like "metalcore". If the shit is heavy and good its heavy and good. What makes something metalcore any how???? Fucking breakdowns??? Or is it the "lack of solos" that is obviously not the case with this song. Labels are gay and good heavy music is good heavy music. Just because the beat isn't always typical double bass blast beats thrash style doesn't make the song any weaker (soulfly is actually a good example). Get off the label bullshit b/c you need to open you'r mind. How can you sit there and shit on good music. I mean nothing super ground breaking but a good song non the less. I'll tell you what, I'd kick some ass in the pit to this song, I don't know about you, but I would.

It is one song don't judge this as a whole i have faith that this will destroy soulfly's new cd. Honestly the new soulfly is alright but i can't get into it like go out and buy it the lyrics are horrible jump up jump back really i swear max just repeats himself. Max Isn't sepultura he was 1/4 of the band. And if anyone has the old sepultura live video under siege i swear he isn't even playing his guitar.

^ GO FuCK YURSELf, if u say max was 1/4 of the band. He was everything I feel. If sepul started the band wit derrick they would nt b half as good. The only reason sepultura r stil slling cds r cos max was on most of em so fuk u. I dont hav anythin against derick, i mean HE HAD SUM BIG SHOES TO FILL IN. But I still look forward to dantes XII even though this song wasn't all that I thought it would be....

In conclusion. At this point in time:

Soulfly > Sepultura w/out Max
Max > EVERYTHING!!!!!

MAX CAVALERA RULES!!!!!!

Max follows trends… The Sepultura don’t! IMO Since Roots… in order (Good - to not as good) from both sides the albums are:
Soulfly (err.. by Soulfly)
Revolusongs (Sepultura)
Against (Sepultura)
Roorback (Sepultura)
Prophecy (Soulfly)
3 (Soulfly)
Nation (Sepultura)
Dark Ages(Soulfly)
Primitive (Soulfly)

It's obvious that Seplutura can't do anything good without Max in the band. Besides the obvious improvments on Vocals with Max, the song writing also was 100 times better with Max on vocals.

The current line up of Seplutura should just quit and if Max ever decides to come back then they can continue on.

Derrick Green is an average vocalist at best. His voice live is terrible, Sepultura could have hired a much better vocalist and guitar player/song writer than Derrick.

I would take Soulfly's DARK AGES any day of the week over this crappy new Sepultura stuff

BRING FUCKIN MAX BACK AND PLAY SOME THRASH YOU PUSSIES!
