JUDAS PRIEST Frontman: Upcoming DVD Project To Include Special Extras

U.K. magazine Classic Rock recently conducted a short interview with JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford about the group's recently released DVD "Rising in the East". The brief question-and-answer session follows:
Q: Why are there no special features [on the DVD]?
Rob Halford: "Extras can be a cool thing to add to a DVD, but we decided to save 'em for what will be our next DVD project. As I said, we've got several other things in the can, including the Birmingham show. This is just a great piece of metal memorabilia."
Q: When PRIEST played London last March, your voice was far stronger on the first of the two nights. Are you happy with how it's held up through the epic comeback tour?
Rob Halford: "When you consider the many thousands of shows I've played it's still in pretty good nick. I do things with my voice that most people can't even contemplate. But when you're singing songs that were recorded 20 years ago, it's hard. I always go out there and give my best shot. To go from an accoustic version of 'Diamonds and Rust' to a full-on romp through 'Painkiller' is a challenge for any vocalist."

Priest could put out a live DVD every year for the next four years and it would still be fucking great, they've got that much material. I hope they would let Tipton play Batism of Fire - one of the best pieces of guitar ever recorded - and they would let Halford play some of his solo songs. That would be fucking awesome.

Priest are great, Halfords a legend, but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable w/ the phrase "We have a lot in the can" coming from him.
Fight rule "Just a Little Crazy", is one of Halford best tunes...

it will be a documental film about Halford's gay boyfriend and what they did on their honeymoon. It will contain never before seen footage of their house and love nest. A must have for Priest fans!!!!

dont really give a fuck what it is cuz i know judas priest wont let me down. they never have and im sure they never will.

Boy- you never fail to get a "Rob is gay- TEE HEE HEE, AIN'T I SO CLEVER?!?!" post from some of the schoolchildren on here.
I'll go so far as to say these guys are the best metal band in history- and it don't matter to me who's gay and who's not.

Wise words. I have a huge metal collection and like pretty much all kinds of metal but overall I would say that Judas Priest are the greatest metal band in history.
What stands them apart from say Maiden or Sabbath is the ability to evolve musically with dramatic effect. Maiden don't sound that different to how they did in 81 but EVERY Judas Priest album has a different sound and some new ideas and variety.
Sure they don't always come off but compare for example Sad Wings of Destiny with Painkiller - NO other band in metal can boast that kind of evolution in sound over that period of time. It takes extreme musical talent to pull that off and Priest have consistently proved that have this in spades.

I GOT THE DVD FOR X MAS AND I LOVE IT! ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION WAS A GREAT ALBUM AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING MORE.
