METALLICA, SLAYER Members Confirmed To Attend ZAKK WYLDE's HOLLYWOOD'S ROCKWALK Induction

Rob Zombie, Slash and Duff McKagan of VELVET REVOLVER, Robert Trujillo of METALLICA, Kerry King of SLAYER, John 5 ( MARILYN MANSON, ROB ZOMBIE), baseball greats Mike Piazza and Scott Spiezio, wrestlers Steve Austin and Jericho, Vinnie Abbott and Rex Brown (ex- PANTERA), Jerry Cantrell and Michael Inez (ex- ALICE IN CHAINS), and Jim Ladd are among the new stars confirmed to attend the Hollywood's RockWalk induction of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY/ OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Zakk Wylde, set to take place at 7425 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA on Tuesday, January 17 at noon. Also scheduled to attend are Ozzy and Shadon Osbourne. This event is FREE and open to the public. Wylde has played a significant role in the solo career of BLACK SABBATH frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who handpicked Wylde in 1987 at the age of 19 to be his new axe slinger. In addition to his responsibilities as Ozzy's guitarist, Wylde was responsible for co-writing many of Ozzy's best-selling multi-platinum albums, including "No Rest for the Wicked", "No More Tears" and "Ozzmosis". In 1998, Wylde formed his own band, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, while still maintaining his role as Osbourne's lead guitarist. To date, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has released six albums and has sold in excess of one million units worldwide. Wylde's musical mastery has spawned numerous instrument product endorsements. His signature products include four custom Gibson guitars, a custom Epiphone guitar, a limited-run Marshall amplifier, EMG Picks-Ups, GHS Strings and Dunlop Pedals. Cool. Say what you want about Zakk, and many of you do, but I like his playing style. I could give a fuck about what he's trying to porray with his image or whatever. I haven't even seen any but one of his videos, I just listen to his tunes. The music should do the talking. Not the best, but he has helped Ozzy write some kick ass tunes.

Ozzy's significant and longlasting impact had been made WAY before Zakk joined him and as for Black Label Society, how the fuck can anyone class them alongside The Ramones or AC/DC in terms of the impact they've had on rock.
Note fuckers, that I'm not bashing Zakk I'm just pointing out that his inclusion on this list seems completely ludicrous.

Rhandy Rhoads is already on there I believe, inducted in 2004. I think he actually has a bust of him or something next to Hendrix (though my memory is a little off, I might have just made that up).
As for Zakk...I like him, but I'm not convinced he deserves this quite yet. I think he's really getting this for his fame, not his contribution to music. I can think of a dozen guitarists that have far more originality than him (not that he isn't original, just not *that* original), but I think it will be a looooong time before someone like Chuck Schuldiner or Tom G. Warrior gets on there (and lets be honest, both of them have done far more for music than Zakk ever will. He may be good, but those 2 have inspired entire genres almost on their own).

Dude, I have no idea what shit you listen to, but I think out of the 200+ bands I have in my music collection, I really don't think there is a single band that DOESN'T use guitar solo's in songs. I mean, its one of the cornerstones of old metal. Granted, there are plenty of wanky bands that use the 3-chord shit these days, but seriously, you need to consider metal as a whole, not just limited to your CD collection.
And with regards to your comment about telling people to learn how to type...well, I think your last sentence says it all. Talk about calling the kettle black...

Look for FEB GUITAR WORLD mag Special, on 25th yrs since his tragic/early death. RR on cover/CD-ROM, Rudy Sarzo speaks up, plus lots more on RR. No wonder GW hasn't had RR on cover lately, 'cos here it comes.

sdmf_from_hell - I am an Ozzy fan as well. And I do like Zakk. But I stand by my decision that there are far more deserving muscians out there who are never going to get recognised. If Zakk was the guitarist in a less famous band, but still played to the same standard with the same songs, do you really think he would be getting this honour? Simply put, no. Of course he wouldn't. Most of the time, this RockWalk thing seems to honour fame, not ability.

Even Bob Daisley thinks that Ozzy has had better guitarist, then Zakk Wylde. Zakk Wylde really didn't write any lyrics with Ozzy eather. And think about it, if Zakk Wylde "wrote" those lyrics then why did everything he wrote in BLS suck?
Bob Daisley wrote all of Ozzy's lyrics untill No More Tears
Geezer Butler wrote all the lyrics for Ozzmosis
Random artist wrote lyrics for Down To Earth
Best-selling multi-platinum albums, including "No Rest for the Wicked" and "Ozzmosis". Actually those two albums didn't even sell that well at all, they didn't even go multi-platnium.
And remember kids, just because Zakk Wylde is popular in the mainstream media does NOT mean he's the best guitarist ever.
Popularity doesn't=quality

ZAKK WYLDE IS GOD!
No More Tears is in my opinion the best Ozzy Osbourne album and also the album that Zakk wrote the most material for. Zakk Wylde, Mike Inez and Randy Castillo, what a fucking great lineup. Hopefully Ozzy will let Zakk write the new album.
Bass monster Rob Trujillo kicks ass as well. Can't wait for new Metallica \m/

The Dallas Cowboys didn't even make the playoffs this year, you fucking moron. The Steelers are still alive though, but it will be tough to beat the Colts in Indy. Even if they lose, I won't be that disappointed, I'm OK with Peyton Manning getting a chance to play for a Super Bowl title.
Also, the Steelers under Bill Cowher have been in the thick of it every year.

What a pile of CRAP. First of all, Dimebag won countless awards when he was alive. Before he was even IN Pantera, he was banned from from entering a Texas guitar competition because he had won it the last 4 or 5 years in a row.
Second, why you picked on Dimebag I don't know. Yes, he's been mentioned, but then so have other guitarists, some of whom are better than Dimebag OR Zakk could even be.
Although I agree that his death has been totally overblown and that he gets a bit too much credit these days, in terms of influnence, he deserves a spot on the Walk far more than Zakk. Whether or not he is a better guitarist MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. You don't get a place on the Walk for being a good player, you get it for contribution to music. Dimebag and Pantera influenced an entire new generation of metalheads in the 90's and help kick start new metal genres. Compare how many bands list Dimebag as one of their influences to Zakk, and the numbers speak for themselves.
Get your facts right.

Zakk Wylde didn't write shit for that album, everything on that album was written by Bob Daisley. All Osbourne and Wylde did was take the credit for the lyrics Bob wrote.
