Guitar World magazine (
web site) reports: After rising to fame during his productive six-year stint with
MARILYN MANSON, guitarist
John 5 left and became an in-demand gun-for-hire. In addition to recording and releasing two searing solo albums,
"Vertigo" (2004) and
"Songs for Sanity" (2005), he joined
ROB ZOMBIE for a very successful stint headlining the second stage of
Ozzfest 2005. In the short time sine the tour, John has been busy writing and recording new tracks with
ZOMBIE for the horror rocker's next CD.
"It was an honor to play guitar on
Rob's record, because I enjoy his music so much,"
John told
Guitar World. "But I was also given the opportunity to write a couple of tracks on there too. I think there's more guitar stuff on this
ZOMBIE record than on any other."
In addition, since completing
Ozzfest,
John has been working with
Paul Stanley on songs for the
KISS frontman's upcoming solo album. "It was a dream come true for me, because I'm such a big
KISS fan," said
John. "I went to his house and wrote a song with him and [songwriter/producer]
Desmond Child. Then
Desmond called me again to write a song with him and [
MÖTLEY CRÜE's]
Nikki Sixx for
MEATLOAF's
'Bat Out of Hell III'."
Despite his commitments,
John has found time to form his own band,
LOSER. The group's
Island Records debut is scheduled to hit the streets in early 2006 and will be supported with a tour.
John describes the group's music as "hooky," attesting to its radio-friendly appeal. "I had been writing all these commercial rock songs that ended up on the radio for so many other artists," he told
Guitar World. "I decided to dive in and write some songs like that for myself."

LOSER's track
