METALLICA, KORN, SLAYER, SLIPKNOT Members Join Forces For DIMEBAG DARRELL ART TRIBUTE

Some of the biggest names in hard rock — including members of such acts as METALLICA, KORN, LINKIN PARK, SLIPKNOT, MUDVAYNE, ROB ZOMBIE, DISTURBED — have joined forces for an amazing art exhibit in remembrance of late PANTERA/ DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and to support music education. Set to debut at Winter NAMM in Anaheim, California, "Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute" will include the following: * A collection of 50 guitars, hand-painted by world-famous rock stars and internationally known modern artists. * A charitable art auction to benefit a foundation dedicated to music, education and improving the lives of today’s youth. * A travelling entertainment attraction hitting major U.S. markets in 2006. * A highly-publicized tour that will feature an art opening party and VIP reception in each city attended by participating artists, press, celebrities and entertainment industry personel. This exhibit promises to be of massive popular appeal, as well as a great story for the music, art and mainstream media. Platinum-selling artists such as Rob Zombie, Moby, Billy Corgan, KORN, Dave Navarro, VAN HALEN, Kirk Hammett of METALLICA, Dave Grohl of FOO FIGHTERS and NIRVANA and SUM 41 have already signed on and the list of impressive artists is growing. However, I think it's remarkable that so many musicians now jump on the bandwagon when it comes to paying tribute to Dimebag. Sme of the artists on the list make sense, but others? Did their agents and their managers convince them of this being a good publicity move, or are they sincere? I'm leaving it to the eye of the beholder to answer this one...

While I'm not a fan of a lot of the musicians on that list, I think it's cool that they're banding together, whether I like their music or agree with their lyrical direction or not. Why hate Kelly Clarkson? Sure she was on American Idol but who cares. Maybe her agent didn't even put her up to this. Ever think that maybe people outside of metal still care about what happens within it? Maybe Clarkson is on this list because she CHOSE to be. Maybe not but why assume that it's only a publicity stunt? Man I fucking hate the metal community. A lot of the music is great but people are so fuckin' high-strung and judgmental. I judge my music on whether I like it, not whether it's "underground," "satanic," or played at 300 miles an hour. How many of you people would be ripping on Dimebag for working with David Alan Coe if Dime wasn't dead? I can see the "fucking loser sell-out" comments now. Fact is, he did what he wanted to do and that's why Pantera was so cool to begin with.

Do you guys realise how pathetic and trivial you are by arguing over who deserves to be on the list?
Who gives a shit if people like Kelly Clarkson are on the list? Just because they're not "hardcore" and "metal" doesn't mean they didn't appreciate who Dime was; a pioneer of music.
That's what this is all about, a dedication to the musical talent of Dime and his person.
And for those saying those listed in the tribute are just jumping on the bandwagon and doing it for publicity, shut the fuck up. They're on the list because they obviously think Dimebag is great, and he deserves the tribute.

It's awesome seeing people who are not in the metal scene showing respect for Dimebag, shows how influential he really was, I guess.
Now, as for the guy talking about Chuck Schuldiner... Yes, Chuck was a true guitar virtuoso, just like Dimebag, and he along with Death did a lot for Death Metal and the hybrid between Death and Prog Metal, just as Dime and PanterA did a lot for Groove Metal (yes, there's a sub-genre called Groove Metal, I ain't talking shit).
Also, as SuckMe said, Dime wasn't a guy who died of a disease, overdose or comitted suicide; he was murdered at stage playing for his fans when he was still healthy.

I guess you all dont really realize that these people arent just put on a fuckin list, they sign up...And for that matter they dont have to be metal, just people that had a great appreciation for Dime and was inspired by him.Kelly Clarkson was shocking to be on there, but i did my research and found that she is actually highly influenced by rock and metal, just sorta went the wrong way in music.So all you douchebags shut your fuckin mouths about "they shouldnt be on there" and your stupid ramblings. Vinnie told in an interview that Kelly use to waitress at a resturant/bar/ (dont remeber exactly) that him and Dime use to go to, so i think thats maybe why shes there.
