BILLY GRAZIADEI: 'BIOHAZARD Will Not Be Doing A Farewell Tour' - Jan. 16, 2006
Metal Israel recently conducted an interview with Billy Graziadei of BIOHAZARD/SUICIDE CITY. A few excerpts from the question-and-answer session follow:

Metal Israel: Billy, the main question tearing at my heart: Is it true your last tour will be BIOHAZARD's farewell tour? Why?!??

Billy: "I will not be doing a 'last' tour….I will always be on tour…now I tour with my new band SUICIDE CITY. BIOHAZARD will not be doing a 'farewell' tour as I feel that it cheapens what we were about. I made a great album, an album that I am VERY proud of… 'Means to an End', and I want to leave BIOHAZARD on a great note!"

Metal Israel: What's your most proud memory of BIOHAZARD?

Billy: "Too many to mention, I'd have to say it started in 1988 when we were kids recording our first demo!! And it hasn’t stopped since….to now with SUICIDE CITY selling out CBGBs!!!! It's all about making realistic dreams (goals) and not stopping until you reach them! Then you set new goals!"

Metal Israel: What's going on with SUICIDE CITY? How did that start and how does it differ in outlook and musical style from BIOHAZARD?

Billy: "SUICIDE CITY began as a side project while BIOHAZARD and KITTIE were still going strong. I produced Karl's (singer of SUICIDE CITY) band THE GROOVENICKS and knew that I wanted to jam with him one day. Creativity is something that you can't control, I've always had other outlets for music and found myself with side projects like BLU, ENDRAH, AMPT…etc. As I would write for BIOHAZARD, I found some music not fitting what I was looking for in BIOHAZARD and would put those songs aside….those songs were the seedlings that became SUICIDE CITY. I then brought in our drummer Dan Lamagna into the studio to jam…he fit like a glove! Then right after that we got AJ Marchetta (old GROOVENICKS and GHOSTFIGHT guitar player). Jennifer [Arroyo, ex-KITTIE bassist] and I had toured together and spoke often about doing something together….so this was natural for us!! SUICIDE CITY was born….officially in the winter of 2005!"

Metal Israel: "Music's for you and me, not the fuckin' industry." How do you feel about downloading?

Billy: "It kills income for artists!!! I'm pro download but with compensation to the artist, NOT the record company!! I know the numbers of the biz and we are all being raped. My perfect world would be one with cheap, reasonable downloading!! Eliminate the middle man!!"

I was a fan of the "Punishment" days and kinda lost them after the 2nd album or something... But I always liked whatever I heard from these guys through the years. I guess they're underrated now...

Punishment for all my sins!!!

i think i'll miss biohazard. they definitely aren't my favorite band, but they do have some good albums. it was angry, no-bullshit (most of the time) metal. sometimes you just don't want to listen to bands like opeth and edge of sanity. biohazard fit that mood perfectly for me...

Well Urban Discipline suggested this but NOTHING they have done since has given any credence to this theory. Like so many, they produced one great album and then fucked it all up by showing they are one-trick ponys.

Boring.

urban discipline was the best album.
SOTWA was good, but urban discipline is unbeatable and a classic.

all their other albums just left me feeling cold. i don't know how a band capable of such great music could write such crappy songs.

Attention Einstein's,

Biohazard was around before shit bands like Snapcase, I mean Snapwizards. Please do not even mention a worthless, vegan and pussy as band like that in the same breath as Biohazard. Pantera, Biohazard, Sepultura are true original pioneers of 90's metal, regardless if you like them or not. No one sounds like Biohazard and they always remained underground and never sold out. Fake metal? More original than anything you Butt Penguins can come up with besides running your mouths about bands you probably have never even listened too. It is cool if you do not like Biohazard but comparing them to mediocre bands like Snapcase and using the fact that Evan Seinfeld gets more ass than a toilet seat and is married to a fine piece of ass like Tera Patrick; has nothing to do with Biohazard's contributions to metal and hardcore. By the way, "Kings Never Die". I'm over it! Wake up haters and grow some balls.

good point on the originality thing. if you think about it, when biohazard started, there really wasn't a whole lot of bands that sounded like them. there were some, but not a ton. the fact that urban was on RR probably meant that a lot of kids from future bands heard the album. even though it's far from a good thing, this band played a big part in the creation of the rap/nu metal/metalcore genre. so like them or hate them, they were pioneers to a certain degree...

he was alright on that show Oz, which i thought was the best show ever on HBO, better than The Sopranos and Six Feet Under even.
as for his band, never really got into them too much. a couple songs i've heard i thought were alright.

As Biotera said above, Tera Patrick is with Evan Seinfeld. And Evan was the guy in Oz...

Shame to see them go, but as Graziadei, he wants them to go out on a high note (with their latest release).

BioHazard is done? Man, I will miss these guys. Nothing will ever beat seeing them open for Sepultura (with Green unfortunately) and seeing their Guitarist Dive off of the stacks. But all in all they were a sweet ass band.

Bobby Hambel: God father of the hardcore jump

Almost ten years has past since the hardcore world has heard from founding Biohazard guitarist Bobby Hambel. He is considered to be a guitar hero in his genre by masses around the globe. The driving force behind Biohazard release’s titled “Biohazard”, “Urban Discipline” a true pioneering rap/ rock record that has become a classic in the history of metal which went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies worldwide. “State of the World Address” the most controversial Hazard LP which also sold over 1,000,000 copies and featured Cypress hill’s rapper Sen Dog on guest vocals. A collaboration with hip hop act Onyx for the “Judgment Night” soundtrack that sold over 2,000,000 copies in the US. Hambel, very well known for being the godfather of the hardcore jump whose patented spinning-in-place-while-pumping-out-the-riffs guitar move is still one that so many of today’s major players mimic at many a show I have attended. Gone from the stage for so long but the spirit of this pioneer is still present in so many ways. In 2006 Biohazard bids us farewell with there last record titled “Means to an End”. But do not despair Hazard fans, while the symbol of the Hazard flag falls an old yet new entity will rise from the troubled back streets of Brooklyn. The heart & Soul of a band that left us oh so long ago, founding member Bobby Hambel who has been silenced by a legal gag order for close to ten years has re-emerged and is currently in pre-production on his first solo record since leaving the music industry. His street credit is as solid as it’s always been and style and tone just as scary as it was back in the day. 2006 will bring a new fresh EP to the fans. You can check out clips of new material in raw form, messages from Bobby himself and join his mailing list for recording and upcoming touring news at www.myspace.com/bobbyhambel

Bioshit, Biolame......rapcore bullshit band? Fake metal? I'm really curious to know how Biohazard were such fake posers.

They may not have been the most critically acclaimed or universally praised band, but they stayed true to themselves and always wrote music from the heart. And to back up what somebody posted earlier, to a certain extent they were indeed pioneers of the sound coveted by many other bands.

If certain people don't like Biohazard, that's fine with me. But to post comments on this board simply for the sake of maliciously bashing them?? I don't know about that. And lastly, before any of you haters post again or crucify me, learn to fucking spell first.
