OPETH Announce Special 'Chronology' Performances
- Jan. 19, 2006
|
|
|
Sweden's OPETH will hold several special performances, dubbed "Chronology MCMXCIV- MMV - A Live Observation By Opeth", in select U.S. markets on their upcoming tour encompassing material from each of their albums released throughout their career (1994-2005). These shows will be seated, with no support bands and will run for over two hours each with unique production. The markets in which these special nights will be held are New York, Chicago, and there is also a to-be-scheduled special performance in Los Angeles, CA.
OPETH will launch the much-anticipated second stage of their Ghost Reveries Tour in North America, beginning on February 15 in Raleigh, NC. In tow on this outing will be DARK TRANQUILITY supporting directly and THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND as openers in February and labelmates DEVILDRIVER as openers in March.

Probably, seeing as how its being done only 3 times amidst the regular dates. And really, they'd be really stupid not to tape these performances, I'm sure they'll be fucking awesome.
Usually this is the sort of thing you see reunion bands do, but Opeth is doing it NOW when they're on their fucking A game. Brilliant move, works out for everyone involved, fans and band alike.

They're on the verge of having more kids just like all these other idiot rockstars.They tour less and less,which I guess is understandable but 18 US dates???Fuck,why even go thru all the visa shit to only tour a different country for not even 3 weeks???????????????????So now I have to take 3 days off to go to Chicago???I thought Detroit was reguarded as a favorite place for bands to play??? Opeth are kickass but Im starting to think they're getting a bit big headed with everything now {kids,marrage,money,sucess etc!}Maybey Im wrong but I dunno?

If you have tickets to this event. I was absolutely amazed by them when they came through Atlanta in November. I've emailed and begged the promoter to come back through Atlanta, but I'm very glad I got to see them once on this tour.
Opeth is a first-class show. I wish more musicians had the attitude, reverance, decency, and love for music like they have.

Stop crying. Opeth were just hear a few months ago doing a full tour with NEVERMORE. It has nothing to do with kids or family, bands don't book the venues themselves. They don't determine the exact length of their iteneraries. However, blaming bands for wanting to start a family even IF that is the reason why they shortened their tour is STUPID. Excuse them for being human and not robots that cater to your demands. Asshole.

Some halfwit musicians start using shit like "our album will crush" or "our gigs will fucking destroy" in their feeble attempt to use negative verbs for positive experiences. They lack sufficient power of language to actually come up with a verb that will make sense and at the same time convince the readers that their stuff is any good.

Opeth were coming to Texas again, and maybe they will. I have missed them on the last 3 tours because of lack of funds. I have been lucky enough to see them twice though. If they come I'll try to go, and if not then I won't, simple as that.

I loved that show. The way Mikael was talking, it seems like Atlanta might really be a favorite city of his. I know that all rock stars say stuff like that, but I was reading the liner notes to the Roadrunner United CD, and Akerfeldt recorded his vocals at a studio here in Atlanta. It doens't really prove anything, but it's good to know that Atlanta treats him right. Opeth are top-notch musicians, and I hope they're always welcomed with the greatest respect here in Georgia.
What part are you from? It sucks they're tearing down the Masquerade, but I hear they're building a replacement club for the hard rock and metal shows in Cobb County, where I live.
