CRASHDIET Frontman DAVE LEPARD Found Dead

Frontman David Hellman ( photo) (a.k.a. Dave Lepard) of the Swedish sleaze metal band CRASHDIET was found dead this morning. It has been unofficially reported that he hanged himself, although this has yet to be confirmed. More information will be available during the coming days. CRASHDIET was a Stockholm, Sweden-based Eighties hard rock-style band whose debut album, "Rest in Sleaze", entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12. A video clip, dubbed "On the Road with Crashdiet 2005", was recently posted on their official web site. Check it out: Real Media, Windows Media. Photos taken at CRASHDIET's video shoot for the song "It's a Miracle" (which took place on November 8, 2005) can be viewed at this location. CRASHDIET were reportedly the first "sleaze rock" band in over 10 years to be signed directly to a major company — Universal Music. The group, whose members were said to be in their early 20s, were scheduled to make their next live appearance at Gothenburg, Sweden's Storan on January 28.

We have a thread for them - Had one for a year now on the forum...
Oldschool rocker from the T-Boner.com forum really really loved this band and followed them.
Chris Laney(now in Animal) help produce some CD stuff.
He comes to the forum alot. Talk to him via email yesterday.

CRASHDIET was so popular here in Southamerica , they was named like the best band in the glam new era ....
I know Dave in the music bussines, he was funny , crazy and i think he lives like in the 80s ... He was a great singer
WHy some people of this forum are so ignorant ? ...fuck them all and grow up ! Please show some of respect for a dead person ... learn something about this band and goals in Europe or here and then talk or write ... assholes!

dalenkwit kind of has a point.
But I would have to agree with yours more, people always say "it's the cowardly thing to do". But they've never a mile in the person's shoes, never had to deal with what he had to, or whatever. Who knows what his reason was, can't judge him.

Yes good point, I just hate it when people simply dismiss suicide as 'the cowards way out' or 'weak'. In fact I hate it when people dismiss anything as 'wrong' or 'bad' like its some universal truth.
So if you had terminal dick cancer and it was a choice of a slow, painful 6 month death or a quick bullet in the head that would be 'weak' would it? Oh right maybe it isn't 'weak' in all circumstances then.
Yes, maybe suicide shows that you don't fully understand the impact on your family or friends but people who commit this act are often depressed and don't feel anyone cares about them. Depression is a psychological (and often physical) illness and people suffering from it do not act rationally.
The poster above Fluisterwoud says this is sad "unless he did actually kill him self then I don't feel bad for him at all... people that kill them selves don't deserve any respect its weak." I'm not asking him or anyone else to change their opinion but just to recognise that things aren't always black and white.

The word on the street is that Crashdiet were on the verge of breaking up, mainly because of Dave Lepard's drug problem. Both of these unfortunate things probably led to his suicide.

...I don't know WHY people keep on talking about that suicide issue, searching to find out WHY, or judging him. This is something so personal that among all the sadness I feel about this tragic event, thinking about HIM, his family & friends, I respect his decision.
I'm sure he'll keep his hair in shape where he decided to go today...........
I'm still shocked by the news but RIS Dave, many people miss you!

Very sad news. I don't know a lot about Crashdiet, but they seemed to be doing very well based on what I've read about them. My condolences to anyone who is affected by this.

Because Wednesday is just like Frontman Dave Lepard of CRASHDIET.
Both stick to their glam roots,
They lived for this music,
They talked about it all the time and give it respect.
It is all about the love!!!
WED13 is just more horror related (in terms of looks & lyrics)

Dave Lepard was pure glam sleeze Hanoi style.

Are you fuckin' serious "Blabber Basher"? If you are, man, you've got some serious problems! Do you actually believe in what you just wrote? People in sweden does not commit suicide more than anywhere else. That was really a stupid thing to say.
And why he committed suicide is none of your business by the way! There is always a reason why a person commit suicide, and yes, it may be selfish - but it was his life and therefore his choice..
The guy is dead, so show some fuckin' respect to the guy's family and friends and just shut up!
