Wow, that's a really good lineup. Too bad this would never happen in the States...unless of course you throw in a bunch of metalcore and numetal bands to saturate the event.

COMMENT | I love Testament and I like Dimmu Borgir

Nevermore are also pretty good.
Everything else is power metal and I can't stand most of it.
There are much better festivals in Europe.

ANGRA, GAMMA RAY, NEVERMORE, SONATA ARCTICA, STRATOVARIUS, TESTAMENT... are all fantastic bands. I'm seriously considering this if donnington turns out to be prodigy-fest this year.

You got thrash with Testament. You got power metal with Stratovarius and Gamma Ray. Etc., etc. Something for everybody! Everybody except emo/nu metal jackoffs, of course.

...and while the bands are always great, the concert itself was complete shit for the past two years. 8 toilets altogether for 30,000 people, and only one exit? Are you shitting me? As I said, I've been every year since 2003, but I won't go this year unless the conditions improve dramatically. The sound was shit last year, too many people crammed into a place with only one exit and not enough toilets...we were pissing on the side of the stage last year. Great bands, though. I've seen most of them already several times over, so unless there's a band that really sticks out that I haven't seen, I probably won't go. Each band gets to play for maybe 45 minutes, tops. The last year Nevermore was there, they played maybe 30 minutes because of time. Yesterday I went to Treviso and saw Maroon, Samael, and Obituary and a small rock club and it was great...smaller venues are much better than huge festivals. Nevermore played there a few years ago and I think it was their best show I've seen.

that was supposed to read "AT a small rock club", not "and a small rock club".

Italy, Sweden, Germany, Spain, etc!! What the FUCK! Why do I have to live in this shitty country where only most tours are of generic blender shits that come all the time every year!!!!!! And once in a great full blue moon we get GOOD bands like those above?!?!!!!!!

Well, this festival is AMAZING, but if I had to choose a euro fest to attend this year, it'd be a different one.

I've seen Angra, seen Stratovarius, seen Nevermore (all amazing live), will see Sonata Arctica next month, and I will see Vision Divine in September.

I'm killing to see Gamma Ray and Testament. Dimmu would be cool to see too.

Lucky euro's, always.
