TOOL Confirmed For COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL - Jan. 31, 2006
According to The Los Angeles Times, TOOL have been confirmed for the seventh edition of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which will take over the small desert town of Indio, California on April 29 and 30. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

More than 80 acts are on the bill. Among other notables: DEPECHE MODE, FRANZ FERDINAND, PAUL OAKENFOLD, THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS, SIGUR RÓS and COMMON.

TOOL's set for the Sunday show would revisit the festival's first year, 1999, when that band memorably joined RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE on the closing night.

The concert is staged at Empire Polo Field and, although considered a big gamble in its early years, has become a template for U.S. stand-alone festivals. Last year, the festival single-day crowds reached 50,000, said Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice Presents, which created and promotes the event.

As previously reported, TOOL are one of the first three acts to be confirmed for this year's Roskilde Festial, set to take place June 29 – July 2 in Roskilde, Denmark. Also scheduled to appear are FRANZ FERDINAND and KANYE WEST. It was also reported by Norwegian national TV channel TV2 that TOOL will play Norway's Quart festival in early July. Both the Roskilde and Quart performances are likely to be part of a European festival tour in the summer.

TOOL are currently in the mixing stage on their new album and are reportedly looking at an April or May release for the disc, their first since 2001's "Lateralus". A video directed by guitarist Adam Jones is also said to be in the works, with members of the band preparing to embark on an an international press tour for the new effort. More information will be made available soon.

Has Maynard ever taken a crap on stage, then thrown it on the audience? If not, then he is NO GG Allin.

Actually, I think it's safe to say there will never ever be another GG Allin.

Long Live GG.

How are people bagging tool on here? this is radiculous...out of ALL the crap bands out there these days, regardless of your opinion on if you like tool or not, you still have to give them credit on the fact that they do create well thought out songs, that do not sound like anything else. Sure there are probably heaps of bands similar, but tool definitly set a benchmark in music, and if you hate their tunes, regardless they still deserve credit for the input and thought and creativity that goes into their songs. Lets not get all technical here about how many chords they play or whos solos are better or who has a better voice or whatever, thats alll a matter of opinion and abilities, but you can NOT say they don't create music pieces that are artistic and well thought out...cmon guys, saying tool is crap, and then saying someone like sevendust is crap, or whatever, thats putting tool in the same categorie of crapness as some other band that really does not deserve to be in any sort of categorie NEAR tool... give em a break...im not even a HUGE fan, but i definitly respect them, thats for sure...ok, enough from me

The main attraction - distraction
got ya number that numbers the numb
Empty ya pockets son; they got you thinkin that
What ya need is what they sellin
Make you think that buyin is rebellin
From the theaters to malls on every shore
Tha thin line between entertainment and war
The frontline is everywhere, there be no shelter here
Spielberg the nightmare works so push it far
Amistad was a whip, the truth was feathered and tarred
Memory erased, burned and scarred
Trade in ya history for a VCR

Cinema, simulated life, ill drama
Fourth Reich culture - Americana
Chained to the dream they got ya searchin for
Tha thin line between entertainment and war

There be no shelter here
Tha frontline is everywhere

Hospitals not profit full
Yet market bulls got pockets full
To advertise some hip disguise
View the world from American eyes
The poor adore keep fiendin for more
The thin line between entertainment and war
They fix the need, develop the taste
Buy their products or get laid to waste
Coca-Cola is back in the veins of Saigon
And Rambo too, he got a dope pair of Nikes on
And Godzilla pure muthafuckin filler
To keep ya eyes off the real killer

Cinema, simulated life, ill drama
Fourth Reich culture - Americana
Chained to the dream they got ya searchin for
Tha thin line between entertainment and war

American eyes, American eyes....
View the world from American eyes
Bury the past, rob us blind
And leave nothin behind

Just stare
Relive the nightmare.

Great and VERY TRUE lyrics, KILLER music!

Blabbermouth needs to get more up-to-date news sources. Tool has been done mixing and is actually mastering the music this week in the Northeast. :)

Quite a bit of animosity towards tool you guys. c'mon you can't say they aren't creative. You just don't like their creativity. Some people are too narrow minded to appreciate their intense tunes

is probably the most under rated guitarist in music

his technique and how he gets analog sounds from scrape feedback
is just sick... the rhythm section may be in the top five in music

and of course, a front man like maynard
