SMASHING PUMPKINS To Headline This Year's LOLLAPALOOZA?

SMASHING PUMPKINS are rumored to be a primary target for a headliner at this year's Lollapalooza festival, which will return to Hutchinson Field at Chicago's Grant Park, with dates tenatively set for Aug. 4-6, according to Billboard.com.
The lineup for the event won't be announced for weeks. THIEVERY CORPORATION told Billboard.com last week they would be on hand for the festival.
SMASHING PUMPKINS mainman Billy Corgan promised that he would reform the band last June. In a recent posting on his web site, Corgan wrote, "The surprise I have in store for you all will be announced soon enough..." No other details about the potential reunion have surfaced.

Kull, I actually am one of the few people that agree with you most of the time. However, I must respectly disagree. I love the Pumpkins, Billy Corgan is a "unique" vocalist who fits perfectly with the Pumpkins, and no one will play guitar like him again.

Lolapalooza doesn't have much to desire but I do remember seeing Tool and Prodigy at the only one I attended (in anticipation of getting slammed for these two bands I'll just say that I have a more open mind regarding music than most metal heads. I don't give a shit if anyone agrees with my tastes or not - we all listen to what we like, plain and simple).
If I recall, the rest of the festival wasn't that bad. I do remember sitting through a Snoop Dog to get to Tool but, hey, you take the bad with the good. If the Pumpkins get on this year's festival I'll consider going but there would have to be some other good bands on the bill. As much as I like the Pumpkins, they alone won't be worth the $60-$80 ticket.

Soundgarden, AIC, Pearl Jam and Nirvana were the only Big Four from the grunge era I actually liked. With early I Mother Earth and early Smashing Pumpkins ("Gish" and that's about it) coming in 5th and 6th. My interest in much of the grunge scene literally died along with Kurt Cobain and since I was living in Europe at the time the transition from grunge to trad metal like Manowar came naturally.
So, yeah, what Kull said.
