BODY COUNT Lined Up For OZZFEST 2006?

Jesse Hayes of the Cleveland radio station WMMS 100.7 FM announced on Tuesday, January 31 during his daily "Buzzard Rock Report" segment that BODY COUNT — the heavy metal band fronted by rapper/actor Ice T — will be performing at this year's Ozzfest. You can download the 80-second "Buzzard Rock Report" audio clip/podcast at this location (MP3, 1.3 MB). As previously reported, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman revealed during an appearance on the Seattle station 99.9 KISW that his band will also be appearing on this summer's Ozzfest. DISTURBED's last appearance on Ozzfest was in 2003, when they shared the main stage with OZZY OSBOURNE, KORN, MARILYN MANSON and CHEVELLE. In addition to DISTURBED and BODY COUNT, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's booking agent recently told Billboard magazine that Zakk Wylde and Co. have also been confirmed for this summer's trek. Additional offers to play the tour have been extended to AVENGED SEVENFOLD and ATREYU, according to recently published interviews with both artists. (Thanks: www.usarockfestivals.com)

Yeah, nice post there "the F word". You obviously don't recognize the talent and originality Body Count brought to metal in the 90s (notice I didn't say "rap metal" or anything "core" - Body Count played agressive, hardcore metal - there's nothing "rap" or "hip hop" about them).
So far Body Count is the only act I've seen announced that I'd like. If Disturbed is headlining and the second stage sucks I don't see myself attending this year.

Wicked Wisdom the only black band on Ozzfest? God Forbid played Ozzfest in 2004.
Body Count wishes they were half as good as God Forbid. As far as metal goes, they're music (BC) was pretty simple and lame. It relied entirely on gimmicks like "Cop Killer"

i agree. there shouldn't even be a fucking Ozzfest this year. if this half-assed collection of bands is what to expect, and probably no Sabbath or Ozzy either....such a total fucking waste. this so far looks like a bill that's not worth more than 15 or 20 bucks a ticket and that's being generous.

I really want to not bother going but I would really also like to chalk up Body Count on the list of bands that I have seen. I mean they had the balls to write COP killer. Not that I think killing cops is cool but that was one powerfull ass song. If I was on the recieving end ofsome of the bull shit they had to go through because of the cops I'd write cop killer too. But with BLS (which 99% of you hate) and Body count, that is still not enough for me to go. If C.O.C. is playing then I don't know if I'll diss it. I really like C.O.C. What if clutch is there also??? That would be one bad ass stoned groove but I don't wanna give sharon a dime.

Body Count were excellent. It is a terrible shame that three of them wound up dying or being killed, but Ice T has been saying for a while that he intends to get BC on the road again and make a new album. I'd look forward to any BC reformation, and would love a European tour. BC in Scotland would be great!

While I have nothing bad to say about Body Count, I still have always regarded them as a sort of novelty act. Sad as that is to say, I have a hard time taking their brand of "Metal" seriously. With that said I think its still cool to see a band I wasnt expecting on the bill.
The bill is pretty much horseshit, really it is. Disturbed? Hasn't that flavor of the day changed yet? And as far as Avenged Sevenfold and the other bands like Atreyu, I am not going to trash them , because they are not on the bill for me, they are on the bill for the youth that will be attending. But make no mistake, its not Metal , its some hybrid where someone takes semi-heavy riffs and meshes them with a vocalist who tries to scream like Anselmo from the Great Southern Trendkill era, in between adding some really bad "singing" with a bit too much melody. The shit is so contrived its disgusting.

Body Count basicly sucked. The only reason they got famous was because conservative morons made a big deal out of Cop Killer. Try lisening to their album. Its pretty lame stuff with bad production. Ice T's lyrics get old real fast once you get used to the novelty of them. They're one band that can sreiously skip the comeback.

Two different genres and in both cases, the latter is ten times shittier than the former. And the other person who said Body Count became popular and received publicity only because of their lyrics? As far as I know, they were never "popular" to begin with; most true metal bands never really are. There are always the few exceptions, but Ice T didn't need to form Body Count to make money like all of our nu-metal, mallcore, and emo friends are doing. He already owned the rap industry, and I'm sure he was paid quite handsomely for New Jack City (I'm not a rap fan per-se, but "New Jack Hustla" was one of the coolest non-metal songs I'd ever heard); he likely formed Body Count for the same reason he does Law & Order SVU and the Pimps and Ho's Convention every single year: He doesn't give a fuck, which is what I respected about him. Body Count actually had musical talent; their original drummer and lead guitarist were fucking phenomenal, and yes, the production was raw, but I'm thinking that was the intent. So the point of this diatribe, the hell with all of you who even try to compare Body Count to commercial-ass rapcore, mallcore, and all the other bullshit music that's being passed off as "metal". In retrospect, I would've killed somebody if it got me a ticket to go see the Body Count/Carcass tour back in 93.

Who knows, but it's already shown up as a one-line addition to BC's page on wikipedia. To SDMF04, it's still Ernie-C, who fucking kills in my opinion. His solo in "Body Count's in the House", was diabolical, albeit pretty short.

Who ever is picking these bands is taking everything good about metal and shitting all over it. The past two years of Ozzfest made a huge improvment with band selections. When Atreyu sounds like the best band there so far, that is not a good sign. Im sad to say but Ozzfest could slowly be coming to an end. Sounds of the Undergrounds sounds like thats were the real metal will be.

Heard various rumors through some chat groups. I have seen post like this (ICE-T to be the next artist to be murdered on Stage). Is that really wise for him to go running him mouth in front a bunch of drunk rednecks at OZZFEST of all things. Better bring out the national guard for security on that tour.
