SEPULTURA Guitarist Talks About Upcoming Solo Album - Feb. 2, 2006
Jeffrey Easton of The Metal Exiles recently conducted an interview with SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

The Metal Exiles: You have a brilliant live DVD out now called "Live In Sao Paulo", let's get into it. Why did you decide to release one right now?

Andreas: "We have not had something like that out since 1992 and of course Max left so we wanted our new singer (Derrick Green) to be comfortable with the old material. We felt that now was the time and after touring for two years touring for 'Roorback', we were ready. We did it in Brazil in front of our crowd. Over 90% of the people there were wearing SEPULTURA shirts."

The Metal Exiles: How did the fans in Brazil take to "Roorback"?

Andreas: "The opinion of 'Roorback' was great by our fans and in general. It was a very raw album and shorter than the last ones. We did not use any guests either as we did before, we just had one play drums on a track. It was an album that prepared the ground for this DVD to happen and for the record that we will be releasing in March."

The Metal Exiles: As far as yourself, you were working on a solo CD. When can we expect that?

Andreas: "Sometime next year as I am working on some parts when I have time. It will be a double album with the first disc being electric and the second disc being more acoustic and percussion."

The Metal Exiles: Why did you decide to do that now?

Andreas: "There was this label in Holland [Mascot] and said I should release something myself. Here is the deal, release something if you want to. I have a lot of material lying around so I am organizing it and recording it now. I am taking my time, as I am not in a rush, I want to enjoy it as much as I can."

The Metal Exiles: I noticed something in your bio, you are into World War II. What intrigues you about that?

Andreas: "I was born in Brazil because of World War II. My mother was born in 1945 and was forced to move here with family because of it."

DANTE XXI kills and is indeed in the vein of old Sepu.
It's the best cd they've done since Chaos AD. It kills Dark Ages dead.

Everyone should unerstand one thing about Dante XXI. This album is EVIL!!!!! It is fucking evil. As soon as the intro comes on from start to finish Heavy Evil Fucking Heavy Metal!!! Which, for those keeping track, its the first real Evil Record since Arise. After arise Sepultura really turned Politically minded and freedom oriented. Well, if you missed the arise days, go pick up a copy of Dante XXI in march, making a soundtrack to the divine comedy really allowed Sepultura to get re-aquainted w/ their EVIL side!!!!

Err....maybe you should read their lyrics better.
Sepultura started being "politically minded and freedom oriented" on Beneath the Remains. The title track of that album is against war, "Inner Self" is about rebelling against society, and so on.
"Arise" is VERY "politically minded". The title track is about revolution, "Dead Embryonic Cells" is about terrorism and biological weapons...I could go on for a while.
Just so you know, so is Dante XXI. They used the Divine Comedy as a metaphore to talk about the evils of today's Society.
Now you know.

... sucks 'cos that amateur Derrick is still there. They should call it quits and stop throwing mud in Sepultura's glorious past history. And Andreas is a BITCH - he periodically plays with super-pop-mainstream "artists" here in Brazil... fuck him!

I cant understand any racist piece of shit ever being into Sepultura. Its an oxymoron at its highest.
Something about a racist being into a band that probably believes in equality more than any other band that makes the mind boggle.

COMMENT | Yeah no shit!!!

Sepultura are anti racist to the bone, all of their lyrics are radically left wing and against racism!!
FUCK OFF RACIST SCUM!!! DERRICK RULES!!!!!

are of a "satanic" antichristian nature, but that's it.
The rest of the lyrics are as I said above.

Dante XXI=Fast, heavy, brutal and thrashy. Simply killer.

COMMENT | Mhead that's absolutely true
