OZZY OSBOURNE Stars In U.K.'s 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' Campaign

U.K.'s Checkout magazine is reporting that Unilever UK Foods is launching a TV campaign for its "I can't believe it's not Butter" brand featuring Ozzy Osbourne and impersonator Jon Culshaw. The 7-million-pound campaign goes live this month and is designed to support the relaunch of the product, which has a new recipe, and a new pack design. The campaign will also include press and poster advertising. Brand manager Noam Buchalter said: "The aim of the activity is to communicate the improvements made to the spread and to highlight the new packaging." Jon Culshaw impersonates Ozzy Osbourne in the TV ad, which plays upon the fact that it is as difficult to tell the two Ozzies apart as it is to distinguish between "I can't believe it's not Butter" and butter. "'I can't believe it's not Butter' now tastes so much like butter that the two Ozzies can't tell the difference," added Buchalter. "'I can't believe it's not Butter' has always been a great impersonator of butter and proud of it. Who better to star in the ads than the U.K.'s best impersonator? Jon and Ozzy make a great double act and their infectious personalities will have a great impact on consumers." The new pack design features bold blue and yellow lettering and imagery and communicates the brand's new extra buttery taste. Check out a photo of Ozzy and his impersonator at this location.

At best was ok, I'd say. I don't really have much respect for rock stars who waste their fame and fortune on stupid shit like drugs. Sabbath paved the way, but they're not the greatest ever, by any means. But if you've never had the misfortune to see this laughably adressed "Prince of Darkness"(even in the old days, I never would have called him that) saunter around on stage like a drunken bum with no brain, then you might have trouble understanding how truly pathetic he has become, and how pathetic the media and culture is here in America and the UK, and probably other places too, for holding some amount of actual fascination with this garbage.
And you might also agree, that this butter commerical is no less stupid or ridiculous than "the Osbournes."

Stories like this further solidify my belief that Ozzy is irrelevant and Ronnie James Dio is the true grandfather of heavy metal. I'll always appreciate Ozzy's music, to some degree, but integrity just flies out the window when you agree to do something like this -- especially when you've already denounced similar behavior!
Just over a year ago, Ozzy said this (fazed.com):
"At the end of the day with 'The Osbournes' I fucking hated it. For all the money we have, the way we live, the cars we drive, the first-class travel we take, I'd gladly give it up to be simple old Ozzy again."
He went on to say, "I probably shattered eight million dreams in one fucking airing."
How is Ozzy appearing in an I Can't Believe It's Not Butter commercial a return to, as he calls it, "simple old Ozzy"?
Oh well. Can't wait for the Elf reunion disc (featuring Joey DeMaio on bass)! For those interested, here's a cool interview with Dio (not sure when it took place, but it can't be more than a year or two old):
