Of a couple really good records and perhaps the most boring shows on Earth. Granted, they are all stellar musicians blah blah blah, but they put me to sleep after the first time I saw them. I'll pass.

Every time Dream Theater comes to Massachusetts I can't go. This time its my girl's birthday.

I missed them at Gigantour cause I couldn't take another day off work so soon after Ozzfest (which I only went to for Iron Maiden).

Anyone know what the set list is anyway?

Great, Dream Theatre!!! I love my music utterly devoid of passion and written in obscure time signatures, just to show off how wonderful the musicians are.

Pretentious, boring twaddle.

Listen to Scenes of a Memory. No passion in that? Sorry they dont play a bunch of 3 minute songs filled with screaming and lyrics that rhyme the whole way through. Sorry they actually bother to try something different.

fucker

Dream Theater isn't for everyone... but, really... what is?

When I was younger I always avoided these guys becuase I was always told how gay the music was but I actually saw them and understood why so many people appreciate them. The singing to me is not really my thing but the music was sick. They are definitely talented and I'd definitely go smoke a fat doob then go check them at Radio City in NYC. Everytime the singer got up and walked away they would go nuts and I was definitely impressed. I will never crap on them now that I have seen them live. For some its boring but for a musician it is very exciting and eye opening. I even have a little more respect for keyboard players now. Definitely gonna be a good show and I am gonna try to score tickets.

I was stuck in honduras with food poisoning during a blackout--which also means theres no water coming from the faucets either. Listening to DT got me through that night. I was so fucked up I can't even remember what album I was playing on my ipod. Change of seasons, scenes, six degrees, octavarium whatever its all good.

They change their setlists with every show.

Bon Halford and all the other morons who say DT is passionless: You obviously have no knowlege of the DT catalogue. Some of their songs are more soulful and passion-filled than most other music:

IE, Space Dye Vest, Lie, a good chunk of Scenes From a Memory, Innocence Faded, and even some stuff from Train Of Thought.

You know, maybe I haven't really been keeping up with DT like I should, but the last album I bought was Six Degrees..I enjoyed it, but not as much as Images and Words, Scenes from a Memory, and especially Awake. But anyone that says they're passionless, or that they suck, is too centered on mainstream music and traditional songwriting to appreciate a band of this caliber. Maybe they're not the heaviest (although they're pretty fucking heavy sometimes) but usually you have to be a musician to appreciate them. I'll admit, LaBrie's vocals may discourage potential DT fans from devoting to the band, but his vocals are an acquired taste. You even begin to like it eventually. Don't cut on this band simply because of what you've heard, or maybe of the two or three tracks you've heard. Go pick up "Awake", or "Scenes from a Memory"...or even if you still decide you don't like DT, go pick up some Liquid Tension Experiment....its basically DT with no vocals....You'll see.

I think so. They got anniversaries for every tour. The 15th anniversary of Dream & Day Unite in 2004, the 20th anniversary of
the band in 2006. They've played all their cover albums that I guess we're on that list from 2002, done enough An Evening With Shows to shake a fucking stick at, and now the 20th anniversary at Radio City Music Hall which will probably have a live orchestra.

What is there left to do? A Change of Seasons, part 2?

Portnoy and Petrucci now practically run the entire operation from the business side of things to the musical direction of each album.
As a result they we're listening less and less to their bass player John Myung on the past 3 records. Jordan Rudess even admited in several interviews he didn't like the recording process on the Train of Thought record and didn't write many pieces of music for that album.

Fucked again......whats new? How many shows are in LA this time....2? Obviously more than what STL gets. And why in the hell would you tour canada? I wasn't aware that French immigrants and elk had the mental capacity to fully enjoy DT....maybe i was wrong-A. Come to STL and play a bigger venue than mississippi nights this time, damnit

Oh brother... One reason why DT comes to CANADA is cuz the singer is CANADIAN... maybe if they sold more records in STL they would go... and yes, most Canadians DO have the mental capacity to understand DT... and did you know the pple who speak french up here are only about.. 20% of the population... but you're SO smart you knew that already huh...
figures something so narrow minded would come from an American citizen... Gotta go walk my penguins and clean my igloo.. oh look a polar bear walking across the street...
why don't you go start a war somewhere.... :p
