Former GREAT WHITE Tour Manager Pleads Guilty In Nightclub Fire Deaths

The Associated Press has issued the following report:
The former tour manager for the heavy metal rock group GREAT WHITE pleaded guilty to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter Tuesday for setting off the pyrotechnics that caused one of the deadliest nightclub fires in U.S. history.
Under a plea bargain, Daniel Biechele, 29, will serve no more than 10 years in prison.
Biechele, 29, set off a flashy pyrotechnics display during a concert at the West Warwick club called the Station. Sparks from the pyrotechnics ignited flammable soundproofing foam inside the club, fueling a fast-moving fire that quickly enveloped the one-story wooden building and trapped concertgoers.
Biechele pleaded guilty to 100 counts that accused him of lighting the pyrotechnics without the required permit, resulting in the deaths. The other 100 counts will be dismissed, sparing Biechele what could have been many more years behind bars.

Man! I feel bad for the victims and their families, but this guy was fucked. 10 years for doing something that has been done a million times. I betcha it wasn't the first pyro bit at the station, but it was the one that backfired. Hmmm?

yeah, poor guy. Just like people who get fucked when they drive drunk and kill someone, right??? People do stupid things everyday and most of the time get away with it. This guy fucked up really bad. It doesn't matter if they had a nightly fireworks display inside the Station a million times without incedent. There are permits and licenses required for this kind of stuff. This guy didn't mean to burn down a building with a hundred people stuck inside, but he did and when you fuck up that bad there are consequences.

The wrong guy got fucked here......what about the unsrupulous bar owners WHO KNEW ahead of time they were going to do pyro and disregarded any precautions! They were real quick to file bankruptcy and hide their assets though...Guess the poor tour manager didn't have enough $$$$$$$$ so they picked him as the fall guy instead of the real problem!

You know... I bet G.W. were NOT the first to do pyro in that club.
Also- EVERYONE in the sound reinforcement industry knows that the shitty egg crate that they used is as flamable as a freaking book of matches... If the club owners hadn't 'sound proofed' on the cheap those people would be alive today.

Yeah...like I said...they were told in advance...they should have either said no, OR had the fire marshal come and inspect and either scrap the idea or make proper adjustments if they wanted to go ahead with it....but either way would cost them money so they decided to roll the dice and look what hppened....Then, when the shit hit the fan, they hurried up and got into court to file bankruptcy before all the lawsuits hit, and now the band's tour manager, who by the way, lost of his own huys in the fire, is gonna get crucified to give closure. Now don't get me wrong...I feel TERRIBLE for the people who died and their families (the band lost a guitar player too), BUT I honestly think they are going after the wrong guy....that's my opinion......

I feel bad for the folks of the concertgoers, but I think it wasnt intentional and a freak accident. He's probably haunted by nightmares of all this tradegy.

Even if he was found innocent (by some lame-ass technicality), he has to carry the burden of 100+ deaths around with him, for as long as he lives.
How could this guy be so ignorant to light pyro in a place this small?? You would think Kull was the tour manager...

I smelled my own flesh that day. It had burned a few years prior, but the other shocks of that moment were thus far more memorable, though not entirely so. At any rate, as the email discourse played out that day, I found myself realizing that I was smelling my own flesh in a manner that was somewhat disquieting.
