SLIPKNOT Win GRAMMY Award For 'Best Metal Performance'

SLIPKNOT were honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 48th annual Grammy Awards, which are being held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Wednesday night (Feb. 8).
The Iowa-based band, who were nominated for the sixth consecutive year, won for their single "Before I Forget", from the group's third album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)". Other nominees in the "Best Metal Performance" category included songs by MINISTRY, MUDVAYNE, RAMMSTEIN and SHADOWS FALL — all bands that SLIPKNOT have toured with.
"I'm honored to be nominated again," SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan told The Des Moines Register in December. "I have a feeling we could win this year."
"They're breaking us down to the point where we really don't care we're nominated," guitarist Jim Root stated at the time. "By the time we're so far over it, when we win one it'll be a real surprise." He added that he has a "nice collection of Grammy medallions they send you when you get nominated," manufactured by Tiffany.
The 48th Grammys are being awarded in a telecast on CBS beginning at 8:00 p.m.

1 through 5 in order of deserving to win, i would've ranked the nominees this way:
1. Ministry
2. Shadows Fall (maybe even a tie w/Ministry actually)
3. Mudvayne
4. Rammstein
5. Slipknot

You guys have rage issues... Slipknot won a Grammy. God forbid someone actually congratulate them instead of slamming them. They worked hard to get where they are today, and I think this Grammy is their pat on the back. If you don't agree, that's totally fine. An opinion, like an asshole, is very different from person to person and is an essential part of a person. This band, despite being "nu-metal" or "mainstream" to some, if not all people who read this board, does at least advocate the fact that there are other great underground metal bands out there that never get any recognition. I once read an article where one of these guys was giving props to Emperor, Burzum and Vader. If anything, I think it's still cool they mention those bands in interviews. Who's to say a person reading it won't go out and check out the bands?
