New Complaint Filed In GREAT WHITE Nightclub Fire Civil Case

The Associated Press has issued the following report:
Nearly 275 people affected by a deadly nightclub fire filed a revised lawsuit Wednesday that adds dozens of new defendants, including foam manufacturers and members of the band whose pyrotechnics sparked the blaze.
The individuals and corporations, including Home Depot, were added to a massive complaint originally filed in July 2004 on behalf of survivors of the fire and relatives of those killed. The plaintiffs allege negligence and carelessness by the defendants led to the deaths and injuries of the Feb. 20, 2003 fire.
The Station fire in West Warwick killed 100 people and injured more than 200 others. Eight of those who died either lived or worked in Connecticut. The fire began when sparks from GREAT WHITE's pyrotechnics ignited flammable foam around the stage.
"The third anniversary of the fire becomes the last day that they could bring a claim against anybody for having caused their injuries and having caused the fire," said Steven Minicucci, one of the lawyers involved in filing the lawsuit.
The complaint sues individual members GREAT WHITE alleging that David Felice, Eric Powers, Mark Kendall, as well as lead singer Jack Russell, helped with the pyrotechnics show but failed to get the required permit. Russell was named in the original suit.
The plaintiffs have said they are seeking monetary damages, but haven't specified how much.
The initial complaint named roughly four dozen defendants, accusing them of negligence and carelessness.
The amended complaint reinstates the state of Rhode Island as a defendant, which a federal judge last year agreed to dismiss from the suit. The lawsuit says the state is responsible for the "egregious negligence" of West Warwick fire inspector Denis Larocque, who lawyers say failed to detect the foam during inspections of the club.

They're grasping at straws now. The only people to blame are the club owners, Fire Marshalls and the City for not enforcing the fire codes and capacity laws. PERIOD!

...I bought some plywood from Home Depot a while back. Better throw my ass on that long list of people getting sued too. And how about every damned person who ever bought a Great White album? Without those people, they never would have played that show to begin with. And how about the people who were there? If they didn't buy the damned tickets they never would have played the show either. How about they sue everyone and just get it over with?
I feel for the victims, but this is getting ridiculous. Same people who were saying that no amount of money will ever bring their loved ones back are now saying, "Fuck! We can sue Home Depot too! Sweet!"
Very sad...

losing my sympathy for these people. It is showing that these people are only after money. They are dissrespecting the dead. It was an accident, it went to the courts it's over....move on and do something positive in your community for the ones you lost and love.
