JEORDIE WHITE: I Would Record An Album With MARILYN MANSON Again - Feb. 18, 2006
The Des Moines Register recently conducted an interview with former MARILYN MANSON and current NINE INCH NAILS/A PERFECT CIRCLE bassist Jeordie White (a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez). A few excerpts from the chat follow:

On playing with MARILYN MANSON:

Jeordie: "My days with Manson were such a roller coaster, kind of a coming-of-age thing, that it almost seems like a dream," he said. "I don't remember much of it to be honest."

Q: You've served with Manson, Maynard James Keenan (A PERFECT CIRCLE) and Trent Reznor, three of the most extreme and demanding singers/bandleaders of metal. How do you do it?

Jeordie: "I do play with probably three of the best people at what they do in that genre, but these are just people I know, they're just friends that I've met through the business. . . . I think now as everyone's getting older it's a lot easier, and people's egos are at rest. . . . It's pretty relaxed, actually."

Q: How bad a boy were you in the '90s?

Jeordie: "You just forget about taking care of yourself and just being a good person and being nice to people around you. One's ego can get so inflated and get so crazy and full of this power that you think that you have, you just do stupid things. At the time I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I don't have any regrets, really. But I wouldn't act the way I acted then, now. Never in a million years. I see people in other bands — this makes me feel old, kind of — I see people in other bands coming up, looking and behaving only a tiny, tiny percentage of the way I did. I was way more ridiculous. Much, much bigger of an (bleep). These guys are idiots. I think I can say that 'cause I was worse."

Q: So these days you're sober and . . . ?

Jeordie: "I'm not sober. I'm clean. I just got off tour and I decided not to drink for a couple of months. It's definitely a cleansing thing. I understand the sober lifestyle. I understand why people could get sober. I'm not totally sober now, but in comparison to how things used to be I would say I'm pretty sober."

Q: Do you ever miss the days of Twiggy, the dresses, the shock, the theatricality?

Jeordie: "I miss it sometimes. There's a lot of parts of my life that I like so much better now. One of the reasons I'm not in (MARILYN MANSON) anymore is that I started to feel a little ridiculous. . . . The time period I was in that band I meant it, all the theatrics onstage, all the characters, so to speak, without sounding too stupid or pretentious. The Twiggy Ramirez character was real. And then it began to start to feel like Gene Simmons or something. 'Oh, I gotta put my dress on to go play.' If I were to do that again I probably wouldn't be that same person. I wouldn't just do the KISS reunion and throw the dress on and smear my makeup and start doing a bunch of drugs."

Q: What's your plan post-NAILS?

Jeordie: "If the opportunity arose to do a record with MANSON, I'd do it, under the right circumstances. With APC I'd like to. I'd like to do my own record, which I've been working on over the last couple years. . . . It just seems like every plan that I've had in the past usually changes to another outside opportunity that was unexpected. I didn't ask or look for A PERFECT CIRCLE or NINE INCH NAILS. . . . It's just something that knocked at my door: OK, sure."

Its cool how Jeordie speaks about the timeline of his life as a current thing and plans on working with the same creatives in the future. And with his positive attitude, this karma (and wickedd bass) keeps him in demand

Hes SOOOOO talented and cool (like his bandleaders)

U GO GIRL! I hope were in a band 2gether soon...

Yes, GAOG was somewhat, "Rap-laden", but for Manson, I feel it was an excellent progression for his music, and style(Even tho it was based on the 20's-30's) Twiggy is an amazing bassist, and I feel he is doing the right thing sharing his talents with NiN, and APC, but Marilyn Manson is where he stood out the best. I would love to see a reunion of John 5 and Twiggy back into Marilyn Manson.

Jeordie White made Manson imo, he was the heart and soul of the live show, i wish so much that they could go back to their Portrait/antichrist days when they were at their best....

If we are talking technicality then he certainly aint a great bassist, hes good at what he does sure but he certainly aint "great". Check out Some Kinda Monster where he auditions with For Whom the Bell Tolls, his playing there is terrible and that is one of the most simple bass lines you could play.

Still a fucking awesome guy though and props to the dude for showing how a live musician should be, one of the best showmen in rock today i reckon.

Oh and in true Blabbermouth style...

that would be bad for jeordie obviously he was the main writer behind alot of mansons great earlier songs i think he should take that same angst style of writing and just co write with trent on the next NIN album. last time he wrote with trent Antichrist came out as the result.

Tim Came from KMFDM he was only in shotgun messiah for one album and an ep which totally sounded different than the previous stuff. i dont know what happen you would think a kmfdm influanced manson album wouldnt sound that bad but somewhere the balloon poped and shit spilled out.

Marilyn Manson should have made more songs like 1996, he probably would have been more accepted in the metal community. 1996 is a really good Manson song and I'm not even really a huge fan...

The only singer that comes close to being metal is Maynard, and thats a big call calling him "metal". What a stupid fucking question. NIN aren't metal and Manson is just shock rock. The interviewer doesn't know shit.

...Period.

It was Brian's vision and he has made it what he wanted and its going in the direction HE wants it to go.....
I do have a disagreement. MANSON; NAILS and APC ARE NOT METAL. They are INDUSTRIAL and Alt ROCK.......

GAOG was a good record and it wasnt RAP oriented at all. Tim Skold was not only in SHOUTGUN MESSIAH, but he was also in SKOLD and KMFDM. I think Tim is a good addition to the MANSON Family, If Twiggy went back and played bass Tim could easily move to Guitar...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
tim played bass on SMs first album under the name TIM TIM
then they fired the singer and hired another bassist and tim took over vocals and then released second coming and the ep i want more.
then tim (now with the last name skold) and the guitar player harry cody recored a 3rd shotgun messiah album called violent new breed with just the 2 of them . and VNB sounds nothing like the glam band SM once was , VNB was more like a NIN or ministry sounding album . so there ya go , tim skold was a founding member of shotgun messiah and was with them thru the whole span of the band which was 3 albums and a ep. get your facts straight.

Jeordie's old band from the early 90s....now that's what he needs to be doing! I used to go see them in South Florida/Lauderdale area all the time, and it was some pretty killer heavy shit. In fact, I used to see MM when it was MM & the Spooky Kids too back then...crazy how it all comes around.

Marilyn Manson should do everything that he can to get Twiggy back. The band was sooo much better with Twiggy as main songwriter.

On the other hand - a solo album from Mr. White should be interesting.

twiggy back of course but not john 5. daisy berkowitz maybe because portrait was the best manson cd. maybe zim-zum because antichrist was a good one but not as good as portrait. john 5 played on the only manson cd i was really dissappointed in and that way mechanical animals. that one really sucks.

Saying Maynard is anywhere close to metal is a stupid comment if you ask me. He couldnt scream his way into that genre, although he is a musical genious. As well, Marilyn Manson is not shock rock, which is not even a real genre. It was made up towards the end of the grunge punk era where everyone believed you were unpure if you wore more than a button up and pair of jeans on stage.
