'Rock School' Student Talks About Opening For JUDAS PRIEST, ANTHRAX In Los Angeles - Feb. 20, 2006
Sarah Brealey of the U.K.'s Norfolk Eastern Daily Press has issued the following report:

When Chris Hardman auditioned for [Gene Simmons' reality TV show] "Rock School", his mum Karen told him: "You can't sing, you can't play guitar, what are you going to do?"

The 15-year-old's guitar was a cheap instrument bought over the internet and he had never had a lesson.

But on prime-time television last night he dazzled 20,000 heavy metal fans - and many more viewers — with a performance described as spectacular.

It was a triumph for all 12 youngsters from Kirkley High School in Lowestoft, even the ones who were not picked for the final onstage line-up.

Yesterday, Chris told the EDP it was only at the last minute that he realised he was to perform in front of 20,000 people in Los Angeles, warming up for the legendary JUDAS PRIEST and ANTHRAX. Although the show was recorded in October, the question of whether Chris or alternative singer Ellie Chapman got picked had been kept under wraps until last night.

Chris said: "I didn't know until the last 10 minutes whether I was going to be in the band. They got both me and Ellie in our costumes and I wasn't that nervous because I thought Ellie was going to be picked instead of me."

This particular private school is mainly for scholarship kids so money doesn't matter so much.

This is bullshit. That kid is not down to earth he's an arrogant fuck who didnt want to share the band with the rest of the kids through the whole series. And now these kids are gonna get sucked into a corporate bullshit situation where everything is written and styled for them - another "rock" boy/girl band, they wont know how great it is to be in a DIY band and express yourself your own way. They dont know any different they are too young and the people around them will take advantage $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

i've watched both series of rock school it's a big show here in the uk. the school chris goes to isn't a private school as someone suggests it's a public school. the first series was at a private school why do us english get sterotyped as all being posh and all really rich, go to private schools and think we have "afternoon tea and crumpets" with the queen. you are all very ignorant this country is not like that at all it's the complete opposite. i for one think it's great these kids get a chance like this. metal music isn't that big in the uk it dosen't get in the charts so if some t.v program changes a few people's opinons even just one person. thats awesome. then maybe we will stop gettin shit music in the charts and the bands that deserve recongition will get whats log over due.
