KORN To Have Street Named After Them; Band to Receive 'Lifetime Achievement' Plaque

KORN will be honored with a bronze plaque to commemorate a "lifetime of achievement" and will have a street named after them in their hometown of Bakersfield, California. The ceremony will take place this Friday, February 24 at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, right before the band kick off their "See You on the Other Side" world tour. The mayor, city councilmen, and other city and arena officials are scheduled to appear at the ceremony. KORN's North American tour will wrap up on April 4 in Toronto, Canada. MUDVAYNE and 10 YEARS will be the opening acts. "See You On The Other Side" has sold 702,000 copies since its release on December 6, according to Nielsen SoundScan. KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu told MTV.com that he is currently working on a new solo effort, describing it as "heavy," and not a follow-up to his 2002 rap project, FIELDY'S DREAMS. KORN recently shot a video for "Coming Undone", the second single from "See You On The Other Side". (Thanks: Korn Unleashed)

i loved korn in middle school. i loved korn in high school. i still love korn in college. yeah, theres other great bands out there as well, and korns newer material isnt as good as the older stuff, but the shit they went through is crazy, and having a street sign say korn is the least they can do. there is a korn street or road in nyc as well i saw when visiting there.
even if you all think they are untalented, imagine all the bullshit they went through with tour managers, record executives, all the time they put into writing, recording, and touring, spending time away from their families which ultimatly led to several divorces. they fucking deserve this.

I remember years ago I was watching MTV Headbangers ball and the Mayor of Las Vegas was on a stage with the hair metal band Slaughter (Remember them?) and he was declairing the day to be "Slaughter day".

Back when I was in high school and Korn's first album had been out for around a year, I read an interview with them in some music magazine where they talked about how disgusting their hometown was. The part I'll always remember was their claim that the local PTA doubled as a swingers' club, and all the parents were fucking each other. Weird place. But who knows, maybe it was bullshit.

Now once these kids get older, they will be able to find their way to the good shit eventually. I started with Korn back years ago, and now I'm into better stuff now too. Because once these kids get older, they will be able to see that nu-metal isn't "talented" music and they will begin to seek something better...

I personally agree with Baalslayer555 because that is basically how I got into darker and better metal bands like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Impaled Nazarene, Slayer, Nile, Iced Earth, Nevermore and I'm glad that they actually helped my life by getting me into this metal but truthfully they don't deserve that achievement like Chuck Schuldiner does

damn right...i also pointed out the cover being similiar to Acid Bath's "Paegan Terrorism Tactics" on occasion as well. and i still insist it does.
I'd have to say The Blue, Tranquilized, Scream of the Butterfly, and Paegan Love Song are my absolute favorite Acid Bath songs. of course i loved everything they did, but those are my absolute favorites.
their singer's new project is pretty fucking amazing, too. he has like some project with him and like 1 other person, i believe. i only heard some of the tracks like once around Thanksgiving.....my older bro and some friends i guess drove all the way to Chicago or something to see him several months ago, hung out, autographs, had a beer with him after his set. his new project kicks ass, next time i see my older bro i'm gonna have to make a copy of that album it's fuckin' amazing.

hey is head gonna be there...or is he busy building mud huts for lepers......maybe when they unveil the sign someone will blow through the intersection and bowl korn over like some bowling pins...this band has sucked since 95 ....there first album rocked and after that they just went straight into a nosedive.....when a band sings songs about being outcasted and depression....and then you see them on m.t.v cribs with there ferrai's and ther 50,000 dollar rolex's and ther slutty loose as a goose porn wife.........i can't beleive people still buy there gimmick.........

ah yes, i had forgotten the name of the project. thanks.
also, it doesn't sound much like Acid Bath, it's a bit lighter stuff, but definitely has the insane lyrics like he did in Acid Bath, maybe even more psychotic lyrics!!! been awhile since i've heard it, but i also HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT to everyone.
