SEPULTURA: 'Dante XXI' Minisite Launched - Feb. 23, 2006
The Sepularmy (as SEPULTURA fans are affectionately called) has developed a flash minisite for SEPULTURA's new album, "Dante XXI", where you can find information related to this release, including audio samples and historical information behind each part of the book that the album is based on (the epic poetic masterpiece "The Divine Comedy", written by Italian author Dante Alighieri in the early 14th century). Check it out at this location.

As previously reported, SEPULTURA filmed a video for the song "Convicted in Life" (mp3) over a two-day period this past weekend in São Paulo, Brazil. Check out pictures from the shoot at this location.

"Convicted In Life" comes off the group's upcoming album, "Dante XXI" (view cover here), due in North America on March 14 via SPV.

SEPULTURA will embark on their European tour with IN FLAMES without drummer/founding member Igor Cavalera, who is taking a break from the group's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son, who was born in January. Former SOULFLY drummer Roy Mayorga, who played with Igor's brother Max for several years in the late '90s and again in 2001-2003, has been enlisted to do the European tour, with the possibility that he will stick around for further touring activities beyond the spring.

SEPULTURA's European tour will not be the first time that the band have performed without Igor Cavalera. Back in April 2005, SEPULTURA completed a short tour of Mexico with the help of roadie Guilherme Martin (ex-VIPER, TOYSHOP) after Cavalera was unable to make the dates.

...but that site is great! I love it when metal bands infuse their songwriting with historical and literary references.

OK, I am officially excited about this release, and this is coming from someone who has written off everything the band has done since CHAOS AD.

COMMENT | AWSOME WORK

Dante is a solid album, not a Derrick era solid album but a Sep solid album, Max era included! and this come from a both Sepul and Soulfly hardcore fan! Previous efforts could not compete with Max era stuff but this not only competes but im sure many people will find Dante XXI as a better album of many Max era albums.
Nuff said, this album will blow you away!!!!

I got it about a week ago, and while it may not be a return to form with Max, it's the best album they've released with Derrick, and all the songs are good, some are so weird with the Brazillian tribe sound that you can't help but not listen to them. I give this album a 9/10

Does anyone know if Roy Mayorga is the same "Roy" who used to work the sound at the Wetlands in NYC??? That's awesome if it is..."

It's very possible. Roy Mayorga is from NYC and used to play in punk bands like Nausea around there in the 90s.

hope it is a thrash album. last 2 sep related albums bought were roots & soulfly - too much nu metal, downtuned simple riffs, cookie monster tantrum vocals - hope the new one is classic like arise or chaos
