TOOL: New Album To Arrive In May?

According to both Tower Records Japan and HMV Japan, the new TOOL album is scheduled for release in Japan on May 10. However, the band and their label have yet to confirm this information or announce a release date for any of the other territories. Even though the members of TOOL have already begun giving press interviews to promote the new CD, no official album title or track listing has yet been announced. Recent Internet rumors have suggested that TOOL's first CD since 2001's "Lateralus" will be named "Aldaraia" and a target U.S. release date of May 2 was given for the effort, but these reports have yet to be corroborated by an official source. TOOL's brand-new album was mastered on January 31 at Gateway Mastering Studios in Portland, Maine by Bob Ludwig. The members of the band were present during the mastering, according to a posting on Toolband.com. TOOL have lined up a bunch of European festival appearances this summer, including Roskilde in Denmark and Rock am Ring/ Rock im Park in Germany. The band's only scheduled U.S. concert thus far is slated for April 30 at the Coachella Festival in Indio, California.

Is one of the best bands of the past fifteen years. I hope they keep pushing the envelope with their sound. Can't wait to hear this, although it's possible that there is no track listing because they might do someting out of left field like giving the tracks no names, just numbers. You never know with them.

If the Tool album comes out on May 2nd, that would be one helluva birthday present.
But then again, I wouldn't put it past Tool to release a CD of pure white noise at this point. Or maybe an album of nothing but clicks and whistles. Or maybe they will take the SUNN 0))) route and shit feedback out of their instruments for hours on end.

Tool has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now.
To understand this band, i suggest listening to Undertow a few times, then smoke a fat blunt to face of some good weed, then proceed to listen to Aenima straight thourgh a few times. If this doesn't do it for ya, you're just not right.

You could do what I did once and drink a bottle of robitussin....the one with dextromethorphan in it......make sure you drink a glass of water with it. Then listen to Lateralus front to back.....you will have the time of your life. Holy shit. Well I must agree to an extent Dirty Sanchez...when I saw them on their Lateralus tour they had that screen with crazy images flashing on it with trapeze artists on either side of it...fucking crazy shit that would have been more intense if I was on some sort of hallucinogenic. Maynard is geek genuis with a superior IQ...people have a hard time getting this band because of it.

TOOL out of ALLLLL bands are sure as hell rhythmic! There is no way you can say they have no rhythm. Regardless if you think tool sucks or not, Danny Carey is a GREAT drummer, and I have been playing drums for 20 years, and I respect his skills beyond anyone's belief. He can definitly play. And i bet 99% of people would also agree. And at least Tool is innovative and progrssive with their sound. And yes, so are a lot of bands, but this one does it every single time, and not many others do.
The only thing YOU should be doing garddog, is getting spelling lessons "cod your engresh aint thet gewd".

I agree but like evslin said, you don't really nee weed to understand anything really. Although I enjoy being high. TOOL is beyond hallucinations and traveling from realm to realm. If you didnt get it back in '93, '94 then oh well.
garddog, OBVIOUSLY you are not a musician. But just a little bulletin for ya, Danny Carey is a very well respected drummer by all of his peers. Beyond double kick pedaling metallers, jazz musicians, rock, hip hop drummers you name it.
Even tabla instructors like Aloke Dutta. Check him out and tell me if you think that blows. Danny is an understudy of him.

Interesting, the new album will be Self Titled with the first single being a song called 'Vanity'. I guess they are going the whole Metallica thing by making their self-titled long after their debut (which is often self-titled albums). Can't wait. If you like Tool, you should check out the aussie band Cog (www.cog.com.au), they are a 3 piece but fuck they pwnd all!

this better come out on the 2nd or ill kill some1. i love this band but i highly doubt this will beat aenima, put maybe lateralus(which r both masterpieces) i love these bitches, now TOUR!!

the p2p networks were flooded with fake copies of lateralus prior to its release. Hopefully, I'll have this in April.

Its funny to hear all these different opinions about Tool on this site.
Hey Hype you have a point, people spend way too much time worshiping
bands and never actually DO anything. However, one cannot deny the
Tool experience. Whoever has had knows the trip I'm taking about.
I had it once on LSD listening to AEnima - it began around Eugolgy. The love in Maynard's voice was incredible. I won't try to explain.
Psychidelics are beyond words and I think Tool is too. If you don't get, well,
so what you don't get it. But I will never deny how good Tool is.

tool puts more time and energy into their music over anybody. they will never be duplicated . anyone who can't recognize them with respect at least, doesn't really care about music.

if you listen to the syllables in which Maynard sings in Lateralus, if you re-order the tracks by the number of syllables in each line of the chorus, it is the real order of the track listing. All the songs will flow together. http://www.bofe.org/overthinking.htm seriously, maynard is a genius respect him. danny carey is too talented for the new metalxcore kids to understand. they dont know what the hell 12/8 every four measures and then a measure of 13/8 means. and for Tool not respecting the fans; how many painters threw themselves at the people that looked at their work? well besides andy warhol. its not glorifying to listen to Tool, it is humbling.
