STAIND To Support Troops With Trio Of Shows At U.S. Army Bases

Flip/Atlantic recording group STAIND has announced plans to perform a series of very special live dates for United States military service members. The multi-platinum band will take time out from their eagerly awaited European tour to play three concerts at U.S. Army installations in Germany.
The shows are scheduled for March 3 at the U.S. Army Garrison, Mannheim; March 16 at the U.S. Army Garrison, Franconia; and March 17 at the U.S. Army Garrison, Baumholder. The shows at Mannheim and Franconia are part of "Welcome Home" celebrations for troops returning from combat duty in the Persian Gulf Region. The concerts will see STAIND performing tracks spanning their career — including their most recent effort, 2005's No. 1-charting "Chapter V".
These special shows are new additions to STAIND's much-anticipated month-long tour of Europe. The trek — which kicked off Tuesday, February 28 in Glasgow — includes stops in England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands.
The European itinerary follows the Massachusetts-based band's recent U.S. headline tour with THEORY OF A DEADMAN and LOSER. Upon their return to the States, STAIND will headline the Jägermeister spring tour, set to begin in mid-April, and will also top the bill at the annual 98 Rock Livestock Festival in Zephyr Hills, Florida, slated for April 29.
"Chapter V" (Flip/Atlantic), the fifth album from STAIND, debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart this past August, marking the Massachusetts-based band's third consecutive chart-topper. The album follows 2003's critically acclaimed "14 Shades of Grey" and 2001's quintuple platinum "Break the Cycle", both of which also entered the Billboard 200 in the No. 1 spot.
The album has thus far yielded three radio smashes — the No. 1 multi-format smash, "Right Here", the top ten Rock/Active Rock track "Falling", and the latest single, "Everything Changes", which is currently ascending the airplay chart at Active Rock outlets nationwide. "Right Here" marked the band's fourth No. 1 radio track to date, following "For You", "It's Been Awhile", and "So Far Away".

well past soldiers of war have fought and died for me to say what i want to see...its called freedom of speech, you twerp. but such a grammar-abiding citizen as yourself should have no problem understanding this document called the constitution.
im quite sure many of those soldiers overseas will be pissed to hear that they are going to be bored to death subjecting themselves to the armpit noise staind calls music.
you think some huge-ass band would do a uso show, like kiss, metallica, or even ozzy. (yeah, all past their expiration dates)
most of those troops probably dont even know who the fuck stained are.

are assholes. i GUARANTEE you these troops are more than happy to see people perform for them, people who DONT HAVE TO. im sure they can care less if it is a country singer, hip hop singer, or fucking deicide. this is a way to keep them entertainted, sane, and feel like theyre at home. staind are awesome for doing this, as are korn, three doors down, and all the other bands who help our troops out.

Yes, I'm thinking it would be easy to say something cruel about Staind but I won't. Largely because I respect them for doing this, partly because some of the gags above are just so damn good that they cannot be bettered. But well done Staind for doing this. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

I don't want to hear anymore shit from any of you naysayers. Yeah, Staind isn't the best but I'm in the Army - I've been to Iraq/Kuwait, I've seen what it's like to be in war. And if a band wants to play a few free shows to show their support of the Soldiers, that's awesome.
Myself, I wouldn't go because I don't like the band's music but I appreciate their support. It's too bad a lot of you out there don't respect what we do. Like the war or not, Soldiers fight for the freedom that you have. Unfortunately most of you are too afraid to admit it so you hide under the rock of "I'm a badass anti-war protestor". Guess what...the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, your freedoms were all a result of bloodshed. There's no arguing that.
You don't have to like the cause or the war (hell, nobody likes war) but you need to support our Soldiers and show some respect to a band like Staind who is doing a little something to help.

But at least they have the balls to play some free shit for the troops. I don't see any of these so called great "underground", "heavy" or "good" bands doing anything as cool as that. So fuck off if all you can do is talk shit about a band that wants to play free music for a group of guys that have to dodge bullets and shrapnell on a daily basis.
I could see most of you in my mind cowering under a damn rock if you were in the same conditions.

It's cool that the troops are getting some live musical entertainment, but I don't think Staind should be the band. After all the horrors many of these soldiers have seen, I don't think hearing Aaron Lewis moan about how his parents never loved each other will really go over too well.

here look thing is maybe some people don't want to go to iraq and fight a stupid war that's doing the world no good at all period. is it affecting anyone - no. who egts themsleves into this mess, the people in iraq, not all of them but most one moment they r moaning that they r not getting help, the next they are moaning that troops are int heir ocuntry. one moment they want a dictator away, some fo them don't. and of course you say some pople don't have guts to go n dodge bullets, am one of them i don't, it's stupid i don't to devote my life or some of it to shooting bullets at people, if it was something serious and my country was under threat course yeh i would fight for my country, but this war war is stupid period. so please some people have sense and don't want to join the army. and sorry this is rock site, but i had to say that. thanks =]

I'm not in the military either. Alot of these soldiers didn't ask to go over to Iraq and I'm willing to bet a good majority of them didn't want to go in the first place. It is however their job to go where told. Either that or spend many years in a military prison because after all, they signed up for this. I have never said I support the war in Iraq. I think the president lied and bullshitted us into a war we never should have been in to begin with.
I do however support my troops who are the first line of defense if my country is ever attacked and my freedoms (most of which me and everyone else takes for granted) are in danger of being taken away. Sorry if I came off the wrong way. I myself would never join the military either. I would be able to defend my own home against others but doubt I would be able to seriously endure what those guys have to go through.
