BEYOND FEAR Featuring Ex-JUDAS PRIEST Singer: Audio Sample, Cover Artwork Available
- Mar. 2, 2006
|
|
A Real Audio streaming preview of the track "And...You Will Die", taken from BEYOND FEAR's upcoming self-titled debut album, has been posted online at this location. BEYOND FEAR features in its ranks former JUDAS PRIEST and current ICED EARTH frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens alongside guitarist John Comprix ( SPAWN, 13 FACES), Dennis Hayes (ex- WINTERS BANE, SEVEN WITCHES) on bass, Dwane Bihary ( MISSING SKIN) on rhythm guitar, and drummer Eric Elkins ( CRYPTKICKER, ALL YOU FEAR). "Beyond Fear" is scheduled for release on May 9 (one day earlier internationally) via SPV Records. The CD was recorded at the legendary Morrisound Studios in Tampa, Florida, under the direction of producer Jim Morris. The album consists of 12 haunting metal numbers, which, according to Owens, "show unmistakably where my musical roots lie: in the classic heavy metal of the Eighties. However, I've transported that traditional metal style into the present, lending it its own touch." "I always knew that I would bring out an album featuring my own compositions one day," Owens explained in a press release. "But I didn't feel like a solo recording, I'd much rather perform my songs with a permanent band. That's how BEYOND FEAR came about." "Beyond Fear" (view cover here) track listing: 01. Scream Machine (5:33) 02. And...You Will Die (3:53) 03. Save Me (3:46) 04. The Human Race (3:36) 05. Coming at You (3:14) 06. Dreams Come True (4:42) 07. Telling Lies (3:21) 08. I Don't Need This (3:30) 09. Words of Wisdom (3:47) 10. My Last Words (3:24) 11. Your Time Has Come (4:49) 12. The Faith (3:38) BEYOND FEAR will support ANTHRAX on a European tour beginning in early April.

I actually went and downloaded the Beyond Fear CD. What a dissappointment. It was on the exact same day that i downloaded Operation Mindcrime II, and i was hoping that the Beyond Fear CD would get the dissappointing OMII taste out of my ears. Boy was i wrong. Bland, bland, bland. Not a single riff or chorus stuck in my head. Well... perhaps the Save Me chorus. But only because it's one note over two words that are repeated over and over again.

Three or four songs are really good. The rest is just kinda average, but still not bad. Owens has a great voice for this kind of music, and the production and playing are both very good. If Owens ever matures as a song writer this band could really put out some quality stuff. You can definitely tell from listening to his vocals that he has studied Halford's style almost to excess.

Its nice to hear that theres people in metal these days that know how to sing. And a band who can do more than chug a "D" or a "E".
Chuck Billy has the real for the death metal style of singing, at least he does it in tune.

THis man can do anything with his voice, and Im really happy to see his progress.I saw Judas Priest with Halford in Greece and i was tottaly dissapointed. His voice is ruined and he wasn't singing,he was speaking thew words and instead of screaming he blasted our brains with 10000 console effects.Tim is great but he is not lucky enough to sing something really REALLY great. The last Iced Earth album was a bunch of cannon pounding with violin and a little guitar, also the concept was bad, nobody cares for the american revolution I prefer Iced Earth to continue with fantasy subjects. Also in judas priest he wasn't very lucky, their last albums were thrash-industrial(can't explain, hope you understand). This man deserves really more and I really want to see him succeed.Let's hope that the album kicks ass!

In Flames were hardly original.
Quite a few bands were doing that thing first. I think you're the 15 year old that should keep his mouth shut.

It does sound similar to Halford's solo, but who cares? This rocks. Great to hear some real vocalists again in metal.

Similar? You mean, identical. If he can do anything with his voice says HellionGr, then why did he choose to clone Halford? Cool that he is playng metal, though.

I said IT doesn't sound like Halford, yea Tim has that kind of voice, just a bigger range and better on the heavier stuff, But I said the CD doesn't sound like Halford, Tim will alway's get compared to him and that's how it should be, he wont leave metal!
