More photos have surfaced of VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen arriving for the 14th annual Elton John Academy Awards viewing dinner and after-party in West Hollywood, California on Sunday, March 5. The couple wed on April 11, 1981, and have one son, 14-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen. According to the divorce petition filed by Bertinelli, they separated on Oct. 15, 2001. Van Halen, 50, is one of the most celebrated lead guitarists in rock music. He rose to fame in the late 1970s, along with his brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, vocalist David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony as members of VAN HALEN. The group was known for wild excess both on and offstage in its early years, and Van Halen, once a heavy smoker, was treated for cancer in 2000 and 2001.

What a strange career. He is a great guitarist who developed his own style to play. And what he has done ? First he make music with David Lee Roth, who more or less ruined the whole thing with his stupidity. Then came Sammy Hagar, who just simply made everything boring. Eddie is a commercial success but artistic failure, in my opinion.

All things considered, not including the teeth obviously, he doesn't look too bad. Plus, he's out and about again which is good. I hadn't really seen any pics of him or heard of him being at a gathering like this in years.
Hopefully he still has some creative spark and will go back into the studio. I say lay down some blistering rock tracks first then go find someone to sing. That way the singer's style won't influence the music, rather they will just have to find a singer to match it.

Ya know most of the comments posted here are pretty messed up. The guy is 50, has lived a rocker life and suffered some hardship. Also, anyone who has suffered, or watched a loved one suffer through cancer and it's brutal treatment would know how hard it is on your body and teeth. Not to mention the fact that cancer of any kind above the neck is usually a death sentence. Give the guy a break and stop pointing fingers. God forbid you have to experience the type of pain associated with cancer and the variety of treatments. Say good bye to your teeth and remember what you posted here. Hang in there Ed and thanks for the music.
