SEX PISTOLS Frontman To Guest On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' This Friday

SEX PISTOLS frontman John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) will appear as a panel guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" this Friday night (March 10) at midnight. Earlier on Friday, fans can tune in to Indie 103.1 FM in Los Angeles and online at www.indie1031.fm to hear John and Steve Jones on Steve's radio show "Jonesy's Jukebox", airing between noon and 2:00 p.m. PST. The SEX PISTOLS were picked late last year to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with BLACK SABBATH, MILES DAVIS, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and BLONDIE, and induction ceremonies are scheduled for March 13 in New York City. However, in a crude letter posted on their web site last month, the group made it clear that they would not be attending. The SEX PISTOLS had been eligible for the Rock Hall since 2001, but voters snubbed the groundbreaking punk rock band in favor of such contemporaries as CLASH, POLICE and TALKING HEADS, reports The Associated Press. They broke up after just one album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here Comes the Sex Pistols", but left a lasting legacy in rock, as Johnny Rotten and the late Sid Vicious shocked the rock establishment with songs like "God Save the Queen" and "Pretty Vacant". The band broke up in 1978, but surviving members regrouped twice, the latest in 2003, for tours that caused some longtime fans to accuse them of selling out.

and it is no more...kinda like Alternative. The Talking Heads were considered punk as well as Blondie.
Green Day, Sum 21, Blink 182, the All American Rejects, and the 1000 other MTV inbred bands that all sound alike are not punk. Just cause you have tattoos or green hair and play "angry" tunes doesn't mean shit.

anyhow...lydon is fucking hilarious. And the pistols wrote some great riffs and were THE FACE of punk rock while the real work still continues with bands like GBH, not with fashion punk like fall out boy.

were fucking groundbreaking. they were indeed assembled by malcolm mclaren, but nobody wrote and played all those tunes for them...save for sid, who was really nothing more than a figurehead. matlock cowrote and played on almost the entire record.
and the reunion did sell tickets. they NEVER played to crowds that big when they were a band, they were gone too fast. i saw that tour and they played their asses off. sure they were old but they fucking ripped live. i say fuck yeah. this isn't like kiss here, you know...? these guys NEVER made any money and had no idea people would continue to be interested in that album. plus, considering how quickly they self destructed most people never saw them live in the first place, even if you were around way back in the day when they were.
and all these people that are saying "fuck punk! metallica rules!" etc crack me up. there wouldn't have even been a thrash metal movement if it wasn't for people like metallica and megadeth crossing metal riffs with punk energy, attitude and speed. shit, megadeth even did an (admittedly shitty) cover of anarchy in the uk. not only that, you also wouldn't have had guns n' roses if it weren't for them crossing early aerosmith style riffs with sex pistols attitude. great fucking band, great fucking record. it ain't their fault what the mallrats call "punk" these days includes utter garbage like good charlotte...you can't compare the two.
oh, and the chick from bow wow wow was indeed pretty fucking hot back in the day...agreed

really considered the Clash a real "punk" band, as they were close to being mainstream rock. They got airplay on the same radio stations that would play Jackson Brown and Steely Dan. You would have never heard the Pistols on the radio.
I'm sorry but "should I stay or should I go" and "Rock the Casbah" are not punk. Rock yes, punk no.Their first album was pretty punk but thats about it.
Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Exploited, GBH, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys...Those bands are punk..You will never hear them on the radio.
