TESLA Working On Box Set, Covers CD

TESLA guitarist Frank Hannon has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"I thought I'd drop by to let you people know that we have been talking about doing some shows this summer. I will come back and update y'all when it is all set for sure... Jeff Keith has been singing vocals in the studio with Brian Wheat [bass], I have been working my ass of with FRANK HANNON BAND doing shows, Troy [Luccketta, drums] has been doing the same with his projects and Tommy [Skeoch, guitar] has been chillin' in Florida with his family...
"TESLA is working out some bugs and Tom Zutaut, our original A&R guy and the man who helped us in the beginning, is back with us in full force as our manager working on the long-awaited projects like the box set and covers CD."
TESLA's first collection of new material since 1994's "Bust a Nut", "Into the Now" sold 30,284 copies in the U.S. during its first week of release back in March 2004 to enter The Billboard 200 chart at No. 31.

Come on man, they don't suck that bad. Tommy Skeoch is pretty bad ass on the guitar although their bassist looks like the fat version of Sonny Crocket smoking an unlight cigarette and spitting it out ever 5 minutes, so they lose cool points for that. They're no Men with Hats, thats fore sure.

Into the Now had sold about 146,000 copies. Excellent tally for an "80's band" that is on Santuary Records...the kings of under promotion (after the first week of release)!

Tesla may not be for everyone, but I've always liked them. They were a band with some talent that never really fit into the hair band scene. They were more like a late 70s style hard rock band.
But what is it with 80s-early 90s hard rock bands doing cover albums?

you will see them at every charity opportunity,
although they surely aren't making a lot of $.
and for those who posted about "signs"...
it is far from representing their catalog.
they are versatile, cover the gamut..
from classic metal (modern day cowboy)
to bordering on thrash (don't derock me,
earthshaker) and progressive near epic
(shine away, song and emotion) and
headbanging (solution, had enough)
not to metion all the ballads that put them
on the map.
unfairly lumped in as 80s hair metal.
I'm lucky to know them because they
live nearby (Sacramento) and they are
always easy to talk with.
Tesla will always be one of my favorites.

was hoping someone would correct me about tesla not doing anything for rock.
the charity stuff is great. i think all bands should be more charitable. but that is entirely their own business.
all i really care about when it comes to bands is the music. i don't really care what they stand for or what they do in their off time.
i can't say anything bad about tesla other than the music is lame.
it does nothing but please their close following of fans.
and to me that is pretty close to doing NOTHING>

they headlined the arco in sacramento where the kings
play..
clearly you don't like their music.

tesla once about 20 years ago in january 1987 opening for david lee roth, they where the most boring opening act i ever saw, then after that for the rest of the 80s they seemed to get quite big i never understood why?????????????

and bust a nut was way under-rated
i don't really care for the acoustic
stuff much, but it was cool in Sacramento
because they did shine away and
stir it up... frank wants to play so much
all the time, he'll show up at some bar
later after the show and jam some more
so if they are in town, try to see where
frank is going out after the gig...
