SEX PISTOLS Frontman Bashes Harassing Fans

The Associated Press is reporting that SEX PISTOLS lead singer John Lydon says harassing fans, such as those who threw bottles at the band at a Danish music festival, are "the very people we hate the most." Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten in the iconic British '70s punk band, also panned animal activists and the anti-abortion movement during his appearance Friday (March 10) on bandmate Steve Jones' radio show, called "Jonesy's Jukebox". "We're SEX PISTOLS; we ain't fake," said Lydon, reminiscent of the band's snarling late bassist, Sid Vicious. "And we don't care," Jones replied. Later on, Lydon reflected on the band's heyday, quick breakup and 1996 world reunion tour, but said he couldn't do it again, citing stage fright and infighting. "I miss the SEX PISTOLS. I miss the lot of you," he said. "But if anybody thinks it's a jolly good wheeze, it's not. It's hard work." Check out pictures of John Lydon in the studio with Steve Jones from Wire Image.

They where the most succesfull bottlecollectors at the entire festival :)
They got hated on the first tour since the only reason they hooked up again was to milk the fans for more money. Johnny Rotten would lick the Queens ass if he could make a buck or two.

Yes I believe they meant something in the year 1977. But that was that thing. It came, it went away. It doesn' t mean anything anymore. Johnny Rotten should just disappear. I think they said back then " NO FUTURE ! " Well that was 30 years ago.

Its because there is all this mystique around drug addicts. Almost like if you want to be known as one of the best musicians you have to OD. Almost every critic or magazine lists this band as one of the most influential of all time but most musicians don't. People need to get over the whole "drugs make you a rock star success" thing. Its bullshit. Ask anyone that has survived drugs that was successful they will say that they made the music inspite of the drugs. For example the first few Alice in Chains CD's. Staley's voice is so powerful but the last couple and his live performances show how much the drugs have worn on him. Same with SRV, his albums that he was in the depths of drugs are just not up to par with his others. So fucking get over all this junkies = Music icon shit.

The pistols were a shot in the arm at the time and with out them we wouldnt have a lot of the NWOBHM bands in the form we had them. Early maiden is completely inspired by punk. Clive Burrs drumming is proof of that.
I agree that too much of anything is no good. But no drugs in Rock and Roll? No thanks.

Sid couldn't play, and he was a figurehead. A way to sell Mclaren's clothing line which was the original purpose of the band..however, the band did take on it sown horrible, monstrous personality, and did in fact influence wuite a few bands today. Not with talent, but with attitude. Does it mean they were great? not by a long shot. Do they deserve the Hall of Fame induction? Christ on a cracker, no. Am I babbling without an actual point out of sheer boredom? Oh, yes, little Droogies..Quite.

1) the Pistols were trying to be the Ramomes. Whatever greatness they achieved lasted 1/20th of that of the Ramones.
2) It is a FACT that three of these old bastards had to be broken out of the retirement center for the....um....er.....reunion (or whatever the fuck they are up to now.)
3) PIL with Steve Vai was pretty good, though.
