SLAYER Frontman To Take Part In Online Chat
- Mar. 15, 2006
SLAYER frontman Tom Araya will take part in an online chat on Monday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m. at ESPGuitars.com.
The four original members of SLAYER — Araya, Kerry King (guitar), Jeff Hanneman (guitar), and Dave Lombardo (drums) — recently entered a Los Angeles-area studio to record what will be their first new studio album since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss". Uber-producer Rick Rubin, who helped solidify the much-emulated SLAYER sound beginning with their genre-defining 1986 classic "Reign In Blood", has taken the helm as executive producer of the project. Working closely with Rubin will be Josh Abraham (KORN, VELVET REVOLVER, ATREYU) who will produce the album.
Jeff, Tom and Kerry have been writing songs for this new album since they wrapped their last North American tour in September 2004. Working songtitles include "Catalyst", "Cult", "Supremist", and "Consfearacy".
On June 6 in San Diego, CA, SLAYER will kick off a seven-week summer trek, "The Unholy Alliance Tour Preaching to the Perverted", also featuring LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON and CHILDREN OF BODOM (who will rotate the second and third slots), and THINE EYES BLEED who will open the shows.

their music is weak and the lyrics suck. They' re stupid and they' re ugly and they' re embarrassing in all the possible ways. Metallica has at least made something good in the past, these guys have always been complite rubbish. I especially dislike the vocals. Sounds like the guy singing is going to burst in tears in any minute. It' s irritating wailing. The image is tough, the music is weak.

kinda sad that the mindless masses have bought into slayers pseudo evilness which comesoff pretty laughable, when truly special american bands that the thinking metal fan can get into like sacred reich and metal church were above the heads of most and never got near the credit they deserved

Death was much better band than Slayer. I don' t think Death ever made anything bad. Especially the albums Human, Individual thought patterns, Symbolic and The sound of perseverance. Slayer is an image band.

I never liked slayer. I respeect them for the influence they had on future bands, but I always thought they were boring. I also felt that RiB was their worst album. I always thought Morbid Angel was what slayer really wanted be.
Hell yeah can't wait for the new album Bring it on!!!!!!

worked in a mental hospital before he joined Slayer. Or was he a patient ? Well anyway. I think he developed his singing style there.

Okay it rocks having lombardo back and all but they need to stop making it sound like this is a huge deal type of reunion... they've always had their original members except for one guy... heh

someone asks how they have stayed so shitty for such a long time, and how come they can work with mainstream shit bands and its ok, but when metallica or megadeth do it, its a sell out. Or how about Kerry King whoring his name to sell some threads. Fuck Slayer and fuck all of you sheep who follow them.
It is amazing how the kids on here that bash Slayer fail to realize the impact they have had on metal music... I challenge you to name one band that formed after 1986 that have not been influenced, in one form or the other, by Slayer. You can't, so don't try.
Image band? IMAGE BAND?!? You wouldn't have fucking thought image band in 1983 you bunch of pricks...And I PROMISE you Slayer will annihilate every single band on that pitiful excuse for a tour.
My tour: Slayer Deicide Cannibal Corpse Kreator TestAmenT
(There are some catches though: Kreator will have to play atleast 6 songs off of Cause for Conflict, Testament will have to be playing with a new lineup, Deicide HAVE to open their set with the 4 beginning tracks off of their debut, and Slayer will have to play Behind the Crooked Cross...and Sex.Murder.Art. And all of them will have to play 2 hour sets.)
I challenge $haron O$borrne to assemble anything half this deadly. BTW, h4ters fuck off.

god hates us all was a great album... fuck all those people who say that slayer sold out or whatever. slayer is still a band who continues to put out the most obscure and brutal music to date... id like to see half the bands out here go for 20 years and still be able to put out heavy albums... im no slayer freak myself, i have heard all their shit and i only own 2 dvds and 2 cds by them. and yes, they have put out shit that i really dont like. but im not gonna trash talk a band who has influenced what is out there today. shit, hatebreed and other bands who destroy wouldnt be here if not for slayer.
FUCK CACOTOPIA!!!!!!!!
COMMENT | posted by : molotov 3/16/2006 12:21:53 AM
say whatever you want about Slayer, but the fact remains that Slayer has always been 1000 times the band that stupid shit bands like GNR and Motley Crue could ever have dreamt of being.
i only like show no mercy, haunting the chaple, and hell awaits. Reign In Blood is way too overatted, and Darkness Decneds is a way better album for that time period anyways.

Wrong again. Goat herds influenced most of metal today. Perhaps your just focused to much on the truth. Maybe you should turn to Dave and fast forward to where he blows smoke in your face. You know because he's sooo dark.
