DOWN To Enter Studio In September

DOWN — the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower ( EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex- PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein ( CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo ( SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex- PANTERA) — will begin work on new material shortly after returning home from their European summer tour and are tentatively planning on entering the studio in September to begin recording their third album. DOWN will play a number of dates in Europe this spring/summer beginning in late May and lasting through June. So far, only one date has been officially announced: Thursday, June 1 at the tenth edition of Gods Of Metal festival at Idroscalo in Milan, Italy. Also appearing on the bill are VENOM, DIMMU BORGIR, OPETH, TESTAMENT, NEVERMORE and SATYRICON, among other acts. DOWN's sophomore album, "Down II", was released in March 2002 on Elektra Records. It is about time. Hopefully the new album will be out before year's end, because I know Down wrote and recorded "Down II" in just like a month. And hopefully the new album will be a little better than that one (please don't make any more country songs, guys!)

Ive always liked Down better then SJR, so I am happy to hear this.
I agree with RR, this year's Ozzfest lineup really sucks. I
think the festival peaked in 2004 (with Sabbath, Priest, Slayer,
SJR, BLS, Lacuna Coil, Hatebreed, Dimmu Borgir, etc) it could only go down hill from there, but this year is a real nosedive.
Judging from all the smaller metal fest tours,I dont think Ozzfest will ever be able to get a truly great line up again, so it is the
beginning of the end for them... altho Down would make a good
addition, I think they would tour with Slayer/Mastodon/Children
of Bodom festival instead (if they were gonna do North America)

If I was supposed to pick ONLY ONE favorite band, it would be Down. I'm just waiting for them to announce they're going to play Download Festival, and I'll see the gods with my own eyes.

down is a great band. when nola came out, i freaked. one of the better discs from back in the day. then silence for all those years, till down 2 emerged . too bad phil didnt focus more on down than superjoint--dont get me wrong, superjoint is ok, but it just got old--and their live show was not that great cause phil just doesnt know how to shut the fuck up and sing. like eddie muprhy said "just sing"

CAN MAKE IT WORK SOMEHOW. AS MAD AS I AM FOR A LOT OF THE COMMENTS HE MADE ABOUT DARRELL, I KNOW IN HIS HEART HE DIDN'T MEAN THEM. ON A PERSONAL LEVEL I HOPE HE STAYS SOBER EVEN MORE SO WITHOUT THE PAINKILLERS AFTER THE SURGERY AND ON A MUSICAL LEVEL I HOPE HE CAN SING GREAT METAL AGAIN. I think Down II was a fucking bad ass album front to back, and I thought the Southern sound was awesome. Banjos, slide guitar, and a fucking organ are cool in my book as long as you do it right. Varitey is the spice of life ladies and gents.
